Chapter 49: Chapter 49
By the time the snacks arrived and were all laid out, Henri was starting to question his decision to help Dio.
The Alpha wiggled his bandaged fingers and waited expectantly, his mismatched eyes pleading.
Henri’s expression soured. "I’m not feeding you, eat your scones yourself."
Dio waited for a few beats before reaching forward to take a scone himself to quietly eat, earning himself a betrayed look from Henri.
The Omega had actually felt guilty and was about to give in only to realize that Dio had just been pulling one over him.
"Next time I’m not ordering anything for you." He grumbled, taking a sip of his iced tea.
Dio’s response was to offer one of his scones as a token of apology, his expression plaintive.
Henri eyed up the pastry, more upset that he was unable to put an upset front to Dio. It was impossible to be angry with the tall, gloomy Alpha.
"Fine." He muttered, reaching out to take the offered pastry. "I’ll consider it..." He trailed off when he realized that Dio wasn’t letting the scone go, his expression falling. "I’m not letting you feed me either." ƒreewebɳovel.com
Why was the Alpha so big of feeding and being fed? They were both grown.
Dio didn’t back down this time, still silently offering the scone.
Henri was torn, it was ridiculous but he found that he couldn’t turn Dio down, just as he gave in and leaned forward to let himself be fed, his door was thrown open.
"Henri! I can’t find... Dio?" Louis faltered, his eyes tragically wide as he saw the very person he had run around searching for sitting down comfortably eating.
Henri nearly lost his balance and this, quickly straightening up, his face heating up. "Louis? What’s going on?" He asked in confusion.
Louis drew in a ragged breath, coming in so he could close the door behind him. "I apologize for barging in without knocking."
Henri waved his apology away, Audie had done worse. "You were looking for Dio?" He asked, turning to look at Dio who had his eyes fixed on Louis.
"I-I was..." Louis stumbled over his words, still flustered at the quick change of things. His eyes settled on the scone still held in Dio’s hand. "I was making scones..." He mumbled more to himself and then shook his head, concentrating on the fact that he was bandaged up. "What happened to Dio?"
Henri’s expression darkened at the memory. "He tripped." He said somberly.
Louis stopped walking forward and blinked in shock. "W-What?"
Henri got to his feet, avoiding eye contact with Louis. He didn’t expect that he would have to be lying to Louis so soon, he didn’t like it very much. "He tripped." He repeated with certainty. "I treated his bruises so you can take him with you now."
He wanted them out of his room because he could tell that there were a couple more layers to the issue. He didn’t want to get dragged in any further than he already was.
Dio shot to his feet at this, walking to Louis’ side.
"Oh alright, I hope he didn’t cause you too much trouble," Louis said, a little lost.
Henri waved them off again, ruffling his hair, they would cause him less trouble after they left.
"We’ll come to pick you up for dinner!" Louis called in his usual cheery tone before leaving, Dio sticking to his side.
Henri just sighed as he looked down at the mostly uneaten food, wondering if his eccentric neighbors would mind another offering of food.

Louis walked in silence with Dio back to their dorm room, it was just down the hallway so they didn’t have to walk very far. Thoughts bounced around in his head, it seemed like he had interrupted something when he pushed open the door, his heart in his mouth at not being able to find Dio.
But he pushed that to the side, walking inside their dorm room first and then turning around to wait for Dio to do the same.
It was clear that Henri hadn’t been telling the truth about what happened to Dio but he also knew that Henri wouldn’t have lied if Dio didn’t ask him to.
He sighed deeply and sat at the edge of the closest bed which happened to be Dio’s. "You were eating scones?" He fiddled with his fingers. "Don’t you want mine?" He asked in a small voice.
Dio froze, he hadn’t intended to hurt Louis, he had only asked for scones because he had been thinking about Louis.
He was tongue-tied, his wrists incredibly itchy from anxiety. He had grown a thick skin from living an unfair life but the one thing he couldn’t stand was Louis being upset with him, or upset because of him, it stripped away at his hard shell, baring the bruised skin beneath.
Louis was still expecting a response while Dio’s internal panic soared, choking him so he said the first thing that popped into his head. "Itchy." He mumbled, holding his wrists out.
Louis blinked, his calm exterior cracking at this, he couldn’t believe that Dio would try to distract him with such an underhanded tacti... "Oh god." He whispered in horror.
He had intended to scold Dio but then he glanced down reflexively and all of his agitations washed away.
Louis gingerly reached out to take Dio’s wrists, silently undoing his sleeve buttons to roll up his sleeves. He was confident that Henri hadn’t seen it, or he would have told Louis for sure.
There were a series of healed gashes that ran along the insides of Dio’s forearms and he had scratched the healed bumps bloody, dried specks of red sticking to the scars and staining his dress shirt.
"Sit here." He directed gently, pushing down his peeves to attend to Dio.
He had never seen Dio scratch up his scars so badly before and it made Louis feel guilty because it happened when he was supposed to be looking after him.
Louis got out a bowl of warm water and some ointment, getting on the bed beside Dio. "Do you want to take your shirt off?" He asked considerately, knowing that it wouldn’t be fun to wear a wet shirt.
Dio didn’t say a word, quietly taking his dress shirt off, slightly disquieted.
