Chapter 32: Chapter 32

Cecil leaned back from the weight of his shock. "Yo-You want to take a paddle to me?"

The stars in Alois’ eyes sparked brighter at this. "That can be arranged, next time."

Genuine confusion bloomed on Cecil’s face, he slowly rose to his feet and then backed away. "W-What?"

Alois’ eyes cooled. "Running?"

Cecil knew true fear then, his feet were rooted into the ground. "W-Wait, you don’t really mean to?" He protested, still having a hard time wrapping his head around Alois’ bizarre request.

"Perhaps I was too generous." The blue-green-haired Alpha mused to himself, making a move to leave the bed. "I best report to the Prince right away."

Cecil was torn, taking a step forward in a bid to pacify his roommate. "F-Fine." He choked out, straightening his shoulders as he braced himself for what was to come.

It would be incredibly mortifying but in the end, there would be no harm done. It was Cecil’s own fault for not covering his own tracks properly, he would remedy it next time.

He hesitantly walked across the room, eyeing Alois suspiciously; he seemed to be enjoying his current situation far too much.

When Cecil got to the bedside, he stood stiffly, wondering what Alois’ next move would be. He did not expect Alois to catch him by the wrist and pull him down so he would lose his balance and fall right over his legs.

Before Alois had shown up to salvage the situation at the cafeteria, Louis had been planning to pull Henri out of the way while Dio had half risen out of his seat. This was swept over by everything else that had happened, no one noticing.

Valentin, Audie, and Nael were seated on the other side of the table and could do little but watch on.

"Do you think that they’ll be back?" Valentin murmured, a troubled expression on his face.

Although Henri was the figure at the center of the whole ordeal, he was the most relaxed out of the group. "Perhaps." He replied dismissively.

"How can you be so calm about it?" Audie spoke up.

"Not protecting his Highness, again?" Louis teased, he was on the other end of the spectrum and was also unbothered, Nael was the same, and Dio looked blank like he could not follow what was going on.

Only Valentin and Audie seemed to think that it was the end of the world.

Audie looked away and replied in a small voice. "He’s got the General’s son to do that."

"Henri, will you be participating in the Horse riding opening competitions?" Nael changed the topic.

Henri glanced down at the piece of paper on the table, his floppy hair obscuring his eyes. "Yes." He replied shortly, remembering that he had to give the document to Tarquin.

Vale and Audie shared a look, not particularly excited although it took little to spark their interest.

"It’s after lunch, right? We’ll definitely come to see you race." Louis supported.

Henri rose to his feet. "Then I’ll see you at lunchtime." He decided, rising to his feet.

"Where are you going?" Audie asked, mimicking his actions.

"Turning this in and retiring to my dorm rooms?" Henri stated like it was obvious.

"Alone?" Audie enunciated, walking around the table to stand by his side.

Henri side-eyed him. "What do you mean?" freewebnøvel.com

"We already planned to camp out in your dorm before lunch, your bed is the biggest." He said matter-of-factly like it was the law. freёwebnovel.com

Everyone else seated at the table pretended not to know what Audie was talking about, uninterested in joining in another of his silly arguments.

"You’ve got floors in your dorm rooms, haven’t you?" Henri countered calmly, knowing that there was no winning with the mop-headed Alpha.

"But it’s not the same besides we need to be there to provide moral support before your opening competitions..."

"Or if the captain of the wrestling team comes back." Valentin whispered like he didn’t want to be heard.

"Do as you like." Henri gave in. "But I’ll be going to my club room alone." He insisted, looking right at Audie.

He handed the keys to his dorm room over to Louis before leaving for the club building. Although they would all eventually find out when Henri raced Seton before the opening competitions commenced, Henri found that he couldn’t tell them upfront.

Maybe it was because he knew that they would try to dissuade him. Henri didn’t have to race Seton but he wanted to. He had never really had the time to despise anyone but Seton was the sole exception.

Also, Henri was coming to find out that he was very competitive, he had been looking forward to the race ever since it was decided on. So much so that it was increasingly difficult to keep his excitement from showing on his face.

It was also why he had been unfazed when silly accusations were lodged against him. Frankly, he was more worried about the brain capacities of those in the wrestling club, frequent blows to the head could be quite damaging after all.

Fortunately, when Henri returned to the Horse riding club, it was completely empty save for Tarquin who was still seated in his little room attending to the documentation of the new members.

His journey back to his dorm room wasn’t peaceful though, there was more staring and whispering and this time, it wasn’t just limited to his mates. Henri was slowly coming to accept the fact that he would constantly be a hot topic of discussion among the students at the academy, it was something that simply couldn’t be helped.

He wasn’t worried about the fiasco that had happened at the cafeteria because of Alois. He knew firsthand how capable he was, although he was still a little miffed about being left in the dark about his attendance at the academy.

He would make sure to send his mother a letter about it, he was certain that she had a hand in it. Especially since she favored Alois and as his Godmother, let him have whatever he asked for.
