Chapter 164: Chapter 164
The four that had gone to get backup broke free of the cover of the forest just as the sun was setting, startling the professors who were making a campfire.
Antoine was the closest to them, he had been stacking up wood. He straightened up with a deep frown on his face, "Louis? What’s the matter?"
Louis couldn’t speak even if he wanted to, out of breath from all the running they had to do.
"Get them some water," Another professor stepped forward, Antoine going off to do as he said.
Alois was the one to step forward, "I need to speak to the Head Chancellor, I’m aware that you can contact him."
The professor looked wary like he was about to be served hypertension on a steaming platter, he hesitated for a split second before gesturing to the four of them. "Come with me." He said, leading them to his tent.
As soon as the Head Chancellor was on the other side of the device, Alois spoke rapidly. "Prince Henri is in danger, there’s at the very least over twenty of the assailants trying to assassinate him."
The more he said, the paler the professor standing beside him got. Alois didn’t need to see the Head Chancellor to know that he was in a similar state.
"Wai-Wait for me!" Sir Bolton sputtered, "I’ll be right there!"
The Head Chancellor didn’t disappoint, he was at the gates in no time. He was riding a horse, just like the fifty or so assortment of armed Alphas behind him.
The four had gotten a chance to take a breather during this time, Antoine making sure they all got some water and somewhere to sit.
Sir Bolton immediately jumped down from his horse as soon as he got to the professors’ camp, it was good to know that the Head Chancellor was also armed, he intended to go along to defend the Prince.
Alois had to give him points for that, the old man must have seen his life flash before his eyes when he heard what he had to report. "You guys stay here, I’ll lead them back." Alois rose to his feet.
Cecil’s hand twitched like he wanted to pull his boyfriend back but he stopped himself in time, this was Alois’ job after all.
Louis was not having any of that, "If you’re going then we’ll all have to go as well." He said without thinking.
He wasn’t saying it to be a nuisance but because his instinct was to not let any of his friends get into danger.
Dio hugged him from behind, keeping a firm hold on his boyfriend without batting an eyelid at the professors gathered around. "Don’t get lost." He said without inflection.
Alois just huffed and strode off, "Says the person that has no sense of direction." He snuck a wink at Cecil before getting on the horse offered to him.
Alois wasn’t too worried about Henri’s well-being, Claude was the best person to protect him but things were about to get messy nonetheless.

"How about you hand him over and we won’t have any problems?" The Alpha in the lead said, warily keeping his distance.
He had seen the trail of bodies that the Alpha accompanying the male Omega had strewn about in his wake, he was right to be cautious of him.
Claude put Henri down now, a serene expression on his face.
"I hope you have a plan because we’re about to get run through with several swords." Henri asked, his knees gratefully not giving in when he stood on his two feet.
Claude just offered his hand, "Do you trust me, Your Highness?"
Henri briefly glanced past Claude to the view of the setting sun behind him, his face felt warm and he wasn’t entirely sure that it was from the last rays of sunlight.
"Sure," He muttered, taking Claude’s hand. Couldn’t he have chosen a different time for these theatrics? The ignored assailants behind them were starting to get pissed off and were slowly creeping closer.
He didn’t expect to be pulled against the other but there was no time to panic about that because Claude was stepping backward.
"You don’t intend to jump, do you?" Henri said frantically, his voice muffled in Claude’s chest.
"They’re about to jump! Stop them!" The leader called, running forward while the others followed behind him.
If you asked Henri later about this moment, he would say that he definitely didn’t scream when Claude held tightly to him and jumped down. He did scream though when they plunged into cold water which was a terrible idea but it was difficult to think logically when you were at the mercy of a suicidal Alpha. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Back at the top of the cliff, the leading Alpha swore as he saw them drop into the flowing river below, he hadn’t expected that to be there.
But even though a river was there, it was very dangerous to just go jumping from this height. Did the male Omega have psychopaths protecting him? Actually, that would make a lot of sense.
They couldn’t shoot them down or they would have done that a long time ago because all their archers were gone. Weren’t they supposed to be dealing with rich spoiled nobles? Why were they then literally fighting for their own lives?
"We’ve got to get out of here." One of the Alphas behind him stepped forward to say.
"That would be futile if we’re planning to leave the others behind." He said wearily, putting his sword back into its hilt.
They go probably go on a chase but by the time they went around the incline both male Omega and his unhinged bodyguard would be long gone.
"Our members would never betray us." Another said resolutely.
"Be that as it may, it would be easy to find out what country we’re from." He reluctantly turned away from the river view to face the measly group of five that was left with him.
They had been close to thirty at the start of this mission but now their numbers had been whittled down severely. They had never botched a mission so badly before.
"What do you think will happen to Langen when that happens?" He added his voice grave.
The others sported horrified expressions at his words.
The Alpha in the lead just went on, "We were ready to be martyrs to fulfill God’s instructions but our deaths will be meaningless if we do not complete the mission." He sighed heavily and looked at the setting sun. "Langen will also utterly be wiped out, our small country has no chance of winning against a country like Reinhold."
"So what do we do?" One asked frantically.
"Right, if we’re going after them, we might as well do so before they get too far." Another added, resolution on his grim face.
The leader said nothing, he couldn’t send them jumping to their deaths. Their chances of assassinating the male Omega were non-existent, they would just get mortally wounded.
