Chapter 500: E

Dawn sat inside the car and left the Monroe mansion. Although he pretended he didn’t care about what happened, he was still thinking about how the Sable family connected to the Monroe family. He did not want to detach himself from those who cared about him. The predecessor earned these connections. It was only right for him to cherish them.

While he was thinking about the effect of his actions, the Monroe family was having a family meeting. The three people were gathered in the study room, and Emile was smoking a cigarette beside the window. Liza sighed, "This was a bit too shocking."

That said, she returned Saffron’s mobile, and the girl said, "I was also surprised when he took care of Onii and his men. However, I did not expect him to overpower Damien in this manner. I felt he was different since he woke up from his incident."

Liza nodded and said, "I noticed this too. He is like a different person. I wonder what happened? Could it be the shock from a near-death experience?"

Emile stubbed the cigarette in the ashtray and said, "I do not know what happened to him, but I do know that while his talent has surfaced, the trouble will not be far away."

Saffron rolled her eyes and asked, "Dad, aren’t you perhaps looking too deep into this? It’s a big deal that he defeated Damien."

Emile shook his head and said, "Powerful people attract powerful people. You only saw Dawn defeat Damien, but you did not see the shock in that old man’s eyes. Clement Sable is not a normal person, and he did not earn his reputation from being normal. If that person tells me I need to maintain a good relationship with Dawn, he thinks of the same. However, he will not intervene too much with him because he is cautious enough of the undercurrents."

Liza thought and nodded. She said, "I agree. That man was not only a war general in the past but also served a few years in the royal court. He must have something in his mind, and if Dawn gets into trouble that puts him at a disadvantage, he will not hesitate to cut him off."

Emile nodded solemnly, and Saffron asked, "What do you intend to do then? If you tried to milk him and then leave him to die, I will walk out of here."

Emile was shocked, and Liza could not help but chuckle. The former quickly said, "I have no such intention, but I wonder if we should advise Dawn about this so that he does not fall into the traps of these old men."

Saffron nodded and said, "I will be meeting him tomorrow. I will pass on the message."

Liza nodded and said, "Tell him he can come to find me anytime if he needs help dealing with this old man. He will be fine if he is in the Spring Dale City. The people who live here have retired from the big scene long ago. He is capable of handling the young people on his own. However, if any old man comes to him with a hidden agenda, we will support him."

Saffron nodded and said, "It is good this way. He will not find us nosy. By the way, Mom, what do you think about the report he made about that Hydrogen Fuel Cell topic?"

Liza nodded and said, "Emile, I do not care how you will do it, but it would be nice to earn something. His report will pass the inspection. It is a sustainable business model."

Emile thought and said, "I can make some preparations, but they cannot be direct. You know how it works."

Liza nodded, and Saffron said, "I am done for the day. Good night, folks."

The young lady soon left the study to sleep, and Emile asked his wife in a low voice, "What do you think?"

Liza asked, "About what?"

She was confused about what her husband wanted to know. Emile sighed and said, "That hole in the garden. His fist broke through four inches of concrete, turning it into grounded powder. That is not something normal people can do. Should we call an exorcist and check if Dawn is possessed?"

Liza rolled her eyes and said, "Did you drink too much? Go back to sleep."

It would be a lie if she said such an idea did not even cross her mind. However, she shunned them down. The night was darkening, and the two people also decided to retire to their room.

...

Damien woke up with a heavy head, and the pain made him groan. He looked around and found that he was in a vehicle. He found his grandfather’s seat beside him and asked, "Grandpa, what happened?"

Clement Sable calmly asked, "What is your last memory?"

Damien thought momentarily before answering and replied, "I was fighting with Dawn. He kicked me in the head, and that was it."

Clement nodded and said, "Then let me tell you what would have happened if that boy had decided not to spare you. Your thick skull would have been smashed, and your useless brain matter would have been splattered around the Monroe garden."

Damien was shocked because he had never heard his grandfather talking to him like this. He asked, "What do you mean?"

Clement replied calmly, "You know why I told you not to mess with that guy?" freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

Damien nodded and said, "Because we do not know why he has been laying low?"

Clement tapped the tip of his cane on the car’s floor loudly and shouted, "Fool! That child is a martial master. He punched through four inches of concrete as if it were mud."

Damien froze, and his face turned pale. He mumbled, "A martial master at his age. It’s impossible. Even the military does not have such talented people."

Clement nodded and said, "Now, do you understand that this guy is not simple? Your Military might not have any such masters, but do you know who does?"

Damien suddenly thought and said, "The Royal Guardian Council."

His expression was bewilderment, and he was about to say something when the vehicle came to a screeching halt. Clement and Damien grabbed the front seats. Damien asked angrily, "Yami, what are you doing?"

Yami was their driver and bodyguard. He replied, "Sir, someone is blocking our way."

Damien leaned to the side to see who was there. The person on the road walked closer to the vehicle. In a blink, the person appeared beside Clement’s side and knocked on the window. Clement was shivering, but he was not a weakling. He lowered the window.

The old man was not shivering because he was scared but because he spotted a sigil embroidered on the person’s sleeve. Damien asked, "Grandpa, what..."

When Clement raised his head to stop him from talking, the man outside the car said in a hoarse voice, "General Clement, I hope you are enjoying your retirement."

Clement gulped and replied, "I am, Your Grace."

The man continued, "It would be good if you continued doing that. After all, entertaining certain ideas is not good at your age."

Clement nodded and said, "Yes, I agree with you." freeweɓnovel.cøm

"Very well, the supreme sends his regards. Goodbye."

The man vanished from his spot as he had never expected. Damien did not know the head from the tail of the conversation, but now, he was spooked when the person vanished.

Clement let out a deep breath of relief and said, "Yami, go home."

Yami nodded and drove the car again. He was a middle-aged man who had been following Clement for many years. If someone could intimidate this old man into sweating by just making an appearance, it meant that the person’s status was not shallow. Yami was smart enough to know what to ask and what not to ask.

Damien asked with some hesitation, "Grandpa, who was that person?"

Clement replied, "You don’t need to know. I will warn you once and for all. Do not trouble Dawn. He is not someone we can mess with."

Damien wanted to ask more, but when he saw his grandfather’s firm gaze, he held the question in his throat.

...

Dawn had reached home and encountered Grace, who was returning from work. He greeted her and asked, "Hey, do you want to study together tomorrow?"

Grace was surprised but then said, "I have work tomorrow. So, I do not think I will be able to."

Dawn asked calmly, "You work to save money for college, right?"

Grace nodded with a faint smile. She was proud of her effort, and the next moment, Dawn said, "If you focus on beating the top score in the city, you will get a scholarship. It’s similar to how you guys talked about that development suggestion. So, why not focus on studying instead of working? After all, you are still ahead of everyone else in the school. Even if you don’t get a city reward, you would get a school reward, no?"
