Chapter 199: Chapter 128: You Just Need to Wait on the Side

It was no wonder Yan Dong and Fang Na were so surprised. The three people before them showed no signs of preparing to attack a Turin fortification.

After all, given the strength of the garrisons in the Turin fortifications, it would be impossible to take one down without at least four or five Wizards working together.

Anyone who dared to undertake such a mission alone either had to have built up their own army with a large number of Golem Puppets and retainers...

...or be powerful enough to have reached the Level 1 Crystalization Stage.

But from the looks of it, this person had no Golem Puppets at all, and his only retainers were two Tier One Legendary Knights. The first possibility could be all but ruled out.

As for the second possibility... although they couldn’t discern Pei Ze’s exact strength, the Spirit fluctuations emanating from him clearly indicated he wasn’t a Level 1 Crystalized Wizard.

’Could he be some reckless greenhorn who has no idea how difficult it is to attack a Turin fortification? Did he really just show up to do the mission with only two followers?’

The same thought occurred to both Yan Dong and Fang Na.

Seeing the change in their expressions, Pei Ze knew exactly what they were thinking.

He simply had no intention of explaining.

’We’re just strangers who happened to cross paths. Why waste the effort?’

Yan Dong and Fang Na exchanged a look, apparently communicating with the Communication Skill.

After a moment, Yan Dong looked at Pei Ze and said, much to his surprise, "Sir, we’re also heading to Fortification 89. If you don’t mind, why don’t we go together?"

Seeing Pei Ze’s surprised expression, Fang Na took the initiative to explain. "We’ve been tracking a captured companion of ours. It looks like he’s likely being held temporarily in Fortification 89 before being escorted further behind their lines. That’s how the Turin People typically handle their prisoners."

"We want to go and investigate."

As if worried Pei Ze might get the wrong idea, Fang Na quickly added, "But don’t worry. No matter what happens, all the rewards for attacking Fortification 89 will be yours. We won’t interfere."

In their hearts, neither Yan Dong nor Fang Na actually believed Pei Ze could take Fortification 89.

They just wanted to get there, see how things played out, confirm if their companion was inside, and then figure out a way to rescue him.

Pei Ze raised an eyebrow. After a few seconds of thought, he nodded in agreement.

’Judging by their behavior, they seem to have a way to scout out the fortification,’ Pei Ze thought. ’If I can use them to figure out the strength of the garrison inside, that wouldn’t be a bad thing.’

When Pei Ze agreed, both Yan Dong and Fang Na smiled, and the atmosphere between them relaxed considerably.

"By the way, what’s your name?" Fang Na suddenly remembered to ask.

"Pei Ze."

"Pei Ze? That name sounds a little familiar... Wait, Pei Ze!" Fang Na’s eyes widened, and she gasped, "Are you *the* Pei Ze from High Tower Academy?"

Yan Dong also looked stunned.

Pei Ze said calmly, "If there isn’t another Wizard from High Tower Academy named Pei Ze, then that must be me."

Hearing this, Yan Dong and Fang Na stared at each other in astonishment.

The competition between Chenxi City and Red Lotus City had drawn widespread attention. As a result, Pei Ze—who had single-handedly turned the tide in the first match by defeating three of Red Lotus City’s top Wizard Apprentices and laying the foundation for Chenxi City’s victory—became famous.

The news that he had become an Official Wizard at the age of seventeen had also spread throughout Chenxi City.

Even Wizards like them, active on the Plane Battlefield, had heard plenty about Pei Ze’s accomplishments.

Yan Dong and Fang Na just never imagined that a Wizard they met by chance on the battlefield would turn out to be that legendary genius.

Now they understood. He didn’t just look young—he *was* young.

In all of Chenxi City, there was only one seventeen-year-old Official Wizard: Pei Ze.

"What a coincidence. We graduated from High Tower Academy too," Yan Dong said with a smile, his demeanor growing much friendlier.

A smile appeared on Fang Na’s face as well.

Forging a connection with a genius like Pei Ze, who had a limitless future, was an opportunity they couldn’t afford to miss.

Pei Ze smiled faintly. "Shall we head out now?"

"No problem," Yan Dong readily agreed.

Since the giant eagle Yan Dong and Fang Na had been riding was killed by the Turin People during their escape, they had been traveling using the Floating Technique. Now, they had to share mounts with Su Ya and Peng Yan.

The two women shared one giant eagle, while Yan Dong rode with Peng Yan.

The group set off toward Fortification 89.

To avoid being detected, the three Wizards cast invisibility spells on themselves and the giant eagles. Su Ya and Peng Yan were no exception.

Traveling at full speed, the group arrived near Fortification 89 in less than three minutes.

Staring at the distant castle, which was encircled by tall, thick ice walls, Yan Dong said with a grim expression, "The Turin fortifications all contain statues of Lady Frost. These statues have a Divine Power Aura similar to a Detection Spell. Any invisibility ability will be nullified within five hundred meters of the fortress."

This had been mentioned in the Crystal Ball Colin had given him, so Pei Ze wasn’t surprised. Instead, he asked, "How do you plan to confirm if your companion is inside?"

Fang Na glanced at Yan Dong. After he gave a barely perceptible nod, she took a pinch of powder from her pocket. She began sprinkling it below while muttering an incantation.

As she did so, the frozen ground where the powder landed suddenly rippled like the surface of water. One by one, translucent creatures, each as long and thick as an index finger, began to burrow up from the earth.
