Chapter 194: Chapter 125: Secret Silver Resource Point, the White-Robed Priest on the Chariot
As a variant of silver, Mithril’s value far exceeds it.
It possesses astonishing ductility and magical conductivity. Once refined, it never tarnishes, and its material properties are extremely stable. Magic Items made from Mithril can be used for over a thousand years without any fear of natural decay.
When crafting Magic Equipment, adding just a small amount of Mithril can greatly enhance its quality.
Furthermore, Mithril can be used to create Metal Golems or magical constructs.
Legend has it that the ultimate golem, the Silver Sage—even more powerful than a Divine Body Golem—is made primarily of Mithril.
Additionally, constructing Wizard Towers and Floating Cities requires vast quantities of Mithril.
Mithril is an indispensable rare material for Floating Rings, anti-gravity devices, elemental drives, and more.
But as precious as Mithril is, it is also exceedingly rare.
Mithril deposits found alongside silver are often low-yield and widely dispersed. One might exhaust an entire silver ore vein and only collect a dozen or so kilograms.
Even so, the potential profits are immense.
Pei Ze recalled Red Maple City’s exchange rate for Mithril: 2,300 merit points per kilogram.
It was a price that would drive many a Wizard to madness.
Of course, the Turin People would be just as frenzied.
Mithril is quite useful to the Turin People, so they would undoubtedly spare no effort to seize this ore vein.
Defending the ore vein from the Turin People’s assault would be a grim trial for the Wizard assigned to guard it.
’The ore vein’s been taken. Red Maple City will most likely issue a quest to recapture the resource point.’
A glint appeared in Pei Ze’s eyes.
’If I’m strong enough by then, maybe I could try accepting that quest.’
’If I could secure that Secret Silver Ore Vein, I’d have all the resources I need to reach the Level 1 Liquid Stage.’
Snapping out of his thoughts, Pei Ze tossed some stamina potions to the burly man and said flatly, "This is as far as I can help you. You’ll have to walk the rest of the way back yourselves."
The burly man and his group immediately thanked him profusely.
They would never have dared to hope a Wizard would personally escort them back.
They were already endlessly grateful that he had rescued them from the Turin People and even given them stamina potions.
This small interlude didn’t affect Pei Ze’s plans. Once Su Ya and Peng Yan had cleaned up the battlefield, they remounted the giant eagles and continued on their journey.
There wasn’t much valuable loot to be found on the Turin People. They didn’t even have any Spatial Items, carrying only some dried rations and some currency from the Turin Plane, all of which was useless to Pei Ze.
But that was to be expected. They were just a squad of Knights, after all.
To get any loot that he would find valuable, he would have to kill an enemy on the level of a white-robed Priest.
The giant eagles soared high in the sky, wind whistling past on either side.
Pei Ze glanced at the Magic Map and gestured to Su Ya and Peng Yan behind him.
"There’s a Turin outpost about ten kilometers ahead. Get ready to fight."
Upon hearing this, Su Ya and Peng Yan perked up, eager and raring to go.
They didn’t want to be a burden to Pei Ze, and this was the perfect opportunity to prove their worth.
A few minutes later, a cluster of low wooden huts came into view.
The huts were built against a cliff face, with two tall watchtowers standing among them.
Soldiers stood guard atop the towers. Even from a great distance, they spotted the three giant eagles and immediately sounded the alarm.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
The loud clanging of the bell spread quickly. Large numbers of warriors poured out of the huts, rapidly forming ranks.
Among them were four or five young men dressed in light-gray priestly robes.
’Five Apprentice Priests.’
Pei Ze narrowed his eyes, unsurprised.
The primary duty of an outpost like this was to monitor the movements of Red Maple City’s army on the battlefield and notify nearby patrol chariots to surround any discovered enemies. Naturally, no Official Priest would be stationed here.
Having five Apprentice Priests meant this outpost’s garrison was already considered quite strong.
The same went for Legendary Knights; the outpost would have two or three Tier One Legendary Knights at most.
That was why quests to eliminate outposts like this one usually only required a single Wizard and didn’t offer high rewards.
WHOOSH!
A dozen or so longspears shot toward the sky like arrows, trying to bring down the giant eagles.
But the giant eagles were flying too high. By the time the spears reached them, they had lost most of their momentum and were easily swatted aside.
Seeing this, Pei Ze simply cast the Floating Technique on himself, leaped from his eagle’s back, and plummeted toward the ground.
"A Wizard!"
Seeing this, the faces of the Apprentice Priests in the crowd paled.
"It’s these damn Wizards again!"
"Quick! Notify the nearby patrol chariots!"
"Everyone, throw your spears! Bring him down!"
The outpost erupted in panic.
Several panicked warriors turned and rushed into a stone house in the center of the outpost.
More warriors raised their longspears, scrambling to hurl them at the airborne Pei Ze.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Countless spears rained down on Pei Ze, only to be blocked by his invisible Mage Armor. Even the ice spikes launched by the Apprentice Priests were just as useless.
Pei Ze watched the crowd below with a calm expression. When he was still fifty or sixty meters from the ground, he abruptly raised a hand, and countless kaleidoscopic rays of light shot from his palm.
The lights were a dazzling, ever-shifting panoply of color. A single glance was enough to make one feel dizzy, as if their vision had been trapped within a vibrant curtain of light.
The Turin Warriors began to sway, then fell to the ground one after another. THUD. THUD.
The five Apprentice Priests also wore dazed expressions.
Hypnosis Pattern!
It plunged any group of creatures that saw its kaleidoscopic light into a trance.
It was practically a group version of the Hypnosis Skill.
While the Turin People were in disarray, Su Ya and Peng Yan guided their giant eagles to the ground. They charged into the crowd like tigers into a flock of sheep, instantly starting a bloodbath.
By the time the Apprentice Priests snapped out of it, their vision was filled with raging Thunderbolt and flames. Sect Knights were falling in droves, their bodies piling up on the ground.
At the same time, a streak of red light shot toward them.
Scorching Ray!
The red light was so fast the Apprentice Priests had no time to dodge. They could only watch helplessly as it struck their chests.
CRACK!
The protective items on all five of them shattered simultaneously. The faint light covering their bodies was instantly melted away by the intense heat.
The next moment, all five screamed as they were engulfed by raging flames, incinerated in an instant.
With the five Apprentice Priests instantly killed, the remaining Turin Warriors lost all will to fight and scattered in terror.
Unfortunately for them, they were either cut down by Su Ya and Peng Yan or blown apart by Magic Missiles that seemed to come from nowhere.
Just over two minutes later, every last Turin in the outpost was dead.
Su Ya had also killed the warriors who had rushed into the stone house.
The young woman then walked over to Pei Ze, holding a statue.
"My lord, I found this inside."
Pei Ze took it and examined it. The statue was palm-sized, its material neither metal nor wood. It depicted a woman with delicate features and a cold air about her, dressed in a simple robe.
It was the Divine Spirit worshiped by the Winter Frost Sect: Lady Frost!
Pei Ze could faintly sense some kind of unknown energy latent within the statue.
However, now wasn’t the time to study it. He put the statue away and looked into the distance.
On the distant horizon, several black dots were rapidly approaching.
If he wasn’t mistaken, those were the patrol chariots, rushing here in response to the outpost’s call for help.
"My lord," Su Ya said, her expression questioning.
Pei Ze said flatly, "We’ll deal with the reinforcements before we leave."
A fully-manned patrol chariot was worth 20 merit points, after all. He had no intention of letting them go.
Su Ya and Peng Yan certainly had no objections; they hadn’t had their fill of fighting yet.
After all, Pei Ze had already dealt with the troublesome Apprentice Priests and Legendary Knights.
As the distance closed, Su Ya and Peng Yan began to make out the reinforcements more clearly.
On wide chariots made entirely of bronze stood twenty figures: two Priests in gray robes and eighteen fully-armed warriors with formidable auras.
Arrays were engraved on the sides of the chariots. The patterns glowed faintly, generating pale cyan whorls of wind that held the heavy vehicles suspended in mid-air.
At the front of each chariot, two winged beasts—somewhere between a horse and an ox—strained to pull the vehicle forward.
There were five such chariots in total.
On one of them stood a man in a white priestly robe, the edges of his sleeves embroidered with two hexagonal snowflakes.
Pei Ze’s gaze sharpened.
A white-robed Priest!
An Otherworld powerhouse on par with a Wizard!
