Chapter 187: Chapter 122: War Fortress, a Demigod-Level Battle

Red Maple City.

A city built upon the rock faces of a mountain range.

This massive War Fortress, built in just three days, had endured countless battles yet still stood tall. In fact, it had only grown stronger and more prosperous.

It had long since become an existence that the countless nobles in the northern Winter Frost Sect Country both hated and feared.

Stepping out of the Plane Gate, Pei Ze found himself in a vast, open square.

People came and went across the square. From time to time, someone would enter the Plane Gate behind him, but even more people emerged from it.

Su Ya and Peng Yan followed closely behind Pei Ze, their faces filled with amazement as they took in the surrounding scenery.

The square was at a high elevation, carved out from the very peak of a mountain.

Looking out from it, one could see countless gray-white mountain ranges rising and falling, stretching into the far distance with no end in sight.

On these mountains, the steep rock faces were densely dotted with protruding, beak-shaped stone ledges. Built upon them were gray-white stone houses of various sizes, their color matching the mountain itself, blending in so perfectly that one could easily overlook them without a closer look.

The other mountain peaks had been flattened and converted into squares just like the one they stood on, so numerous they were impossible to count at a glance.

Just as the intelligence they had received beforehand mentioned, Red Maple City was a magnificent city that encompassed countless mountain ranges, using them as its very foundation.

"How incredible!" Su Ya exclaimed, her eyes shining.

She had lived in Chenxi City her entire life and had never left it, let alone the Wizard Plane.

Seeing for the first time such a magnificent city that blended human effort and nature so harmoniously—wild yet majestic—she felt as though she were gazing upon a wonder of the heavens.

It was hard to imagine this city had been built in only three days.

’I wonder what the other seven War Fortresses look like?’ A hint of longing flashed in Su Ya’s eyes.

Beside her, Peng Yan scratched his head and said nothing.

Although the city before him was shocking, that was the extent of it. He had never been particularly interested in such things.

The flow of people around them, however, left him speechless.

In just this short time, Peng Yan had already seen no fewer than twenty Wizards dressed in white robes.

Wizards, a rare sight on any other day, seemed to be everywhere here.

And as for Legendary Knights, they were a dime a dozen.

There were even quite a few individuals whose auras were so deep and potent that even he was secretly alarmed. If he wasn’t mistaken, they were either Tier Two or Tier Three Legends.

Here, Grand Knights and Wizard Apprentices were actually the rare ones.

After looking around with great interest, Pei Ze turned to the man beside him and nodded. "Thank you, Colin. I appreciate you taking the trouble to accompany me."

Colin smiled. "I was coming to Red Maple City anyway. It was on my way."

Colin was a Wizard Pei Ze had met on the road to the Plane Gate after leaving Chenxi City.

During their conversation, Pei Ze learned that Colin had already spent half a year in the Turin Plane. He had returned to Chenxi City on some business, and now that it was finished, he was preparing to go back to the Plane Battlefield.

Upon hearing that Pei Ze’s destination was Red Maple City, he immediately offered to be his temporary guide and show him around the city.

Pei Ze knew full well that Colin had heard his name and wanted to befriend him, but he didn’t refuse and readily agreed.

After all, he was a newcomer and unfamiliar with many parts of Red Maple City. Having an experienced hand to guide him would undoubtedly be more convenient.

The two chatted as they walked down the mountain.

"The Wizards who come here mostly live in those stone houses. The rent is quite cheap, too, only about a dozen or so Magic Stone Coins a month."

Colin pointed at the stone houses on the surrounding mountain faces.

"But more and more people have been coming to Red Maple City recently, so the stone houses are becoming sought-after. I’ve heard the legion has already started carving out more mountains, though, so I believe this problem will be resolved soon."

Pei Ze nodded in understanding.

Just over three months ago, while he was in seclusion to advance to the Wizard rank, the competition between Chenxi City and Red Lotus City had finally concluded.

Chenxi City had defeated Red Lotus City with a score of two wins to one, securing seventy percent of the rights to the Turin Plane’s profits.

And with the two major Wizard Cities having settled their contest, they began to devote their full efforts to the conquest and development of the Turin Plane. More and more Wizards and Legendary Knights poured into the plane, and the planar war grew increasingly intense.

"Huh? What’s that?" Su Ya suddenly cried out, her eyes wide as she stared into the distance.

Pei Ze followed her gaze and saw a red, bowl-shaped object on the distant horizon suddenly leap into view.

At first, he thought it was the dome of some building, but he quickly realized something was wrong. Looking closely, he saw that it was actually the crown of a tree!

Pei Ze was stunned.

His current position was extremely far from that treetop. Judging by the distance and its apparent size, wouldn’t the crown’s diameter have to be more than ten kilometers?

How tall would a giant tree like that be?

"That’s the Red Maple Giant Tree," Colin explained with a smile. "It’s also where Red Maple City gets its name."

"They say it’s over thirteen thousand years old. The great figures stationed in Red Maple City are currently studying how to refine it into a Tree Spirit Puppet to guard the city."

Su Ya and Peng Yan were already dumbfounded, their mouths agape.

Turning a Red Maple Giant Tree that large into a Tree Spirit Puppet... that was just too fantastical!

But on second thought, considering the nearly omnipotent power of High-tier Wizards, they both felt that the idea might not be impossible after all.

Pei Ze, too, felt a tremor of shock in his heart.

The slight sense of complacency and pride that had sprouted from his promotion to Wizard instantly vanished without a trace.
