Chapter 186: Chapter 121: Battlefield Heather, Target: Turin Plane
Just like last time, Pei Ze received a response from the Half Deer Maiden in less than thirty seconds, making him wonder if she was always waiting by the Eye of the World.
After tossing in the Dark Stone, Tining’s figure quickly appeared on the surface of the mirror.
"Pei Ze, you finally contacted me! I haven’t heard from you in so long, I was starting to think something had happened to you!"
Tining was visibly happy to see Pei Ze, and the antlers on her head even wobbled slightly.
But mid-sentence, she suddenly seemed to notice something, and her expression turned to one of confusion and hesitation.
"Is it just me? I feel like your aura has changed quite a bit."
Pei Ze raised an eyebrow. ’Is the perception of the Ancient Tree Deer Spirit Race really that sharp?’
’She can sense my changes even through the Eye of the World?’
"I’ve advanced to Wizard," Pei Ze said.
Tining froze for a moment, then her eyes lit up.
"You advanced to Wizard? That’s amazing! Congratulations!"
A joyful smile bloomed on the Half Deer Maiden’s face. It was clear she was genuinely happy for Pei Ze.
"Thank you," Pei Ze said with a smile. "Let’s start our trade. I’ve brought quite a few Moonlight Orchids this time."
Tining’s eyes grew even brighter. "Really? How many?"
"Three thousand."
Tining was stunned by the number. It took her a moment to snap out of it, and she stammered with wide eyes, "Th-three thousand?"
"That’s right," Pei Ze said with a smiling nod.
Three thousand Moonlight Orchids only cost eighteen thousand Magic Stone Coins. He had recently earned over thirty thousand Magic Stone Coins from resonance potions, so spending half of that on Moonlight Orchids was no problem at all.
Upon getting Pei Ze’s confirmation, Tining’s face lit up with absolute delight. She tapped her hooves from side to side, her antlers wobbling incessantly.
After a while, she managed to compose herself. She took a deep breath, her pair of Gemstone-like eyes fixed on Pei Ze as she said with utmost sincerity, "Thank you, Pei Ze. You will forever be the greatest friend of our people!"
Looking at her sincere, delicate face, Pei Ze felt a rare pang of guilt.
After all, the only reason he had offered so many Moonlight Orchids was that the trade with Tining was outrageously profitable.
But the pang of guilt came and went just as quickly. Pei Ze soon reverted to his inner, unscrupulous merchant and said with a smile, "I’m just glad I could help."
"Of course it is," Tining said, nodding emphatically. "This is a huge help to our people."
"By the way, do you want any Magic Creature Materials this time?"
Pei Ze shook his head. "This time, I’d like to trade everything for Magic Oak Seeds."
Tining scratched her cheek with a pale finger, looking a little embarrassed. "I’m sorry, Pei Ze. I only have twenty-three Magic Oak Seeds on hand."
The price they had originally agreed upon was one Magic Oak Seed for one hundred Moonlight Orchids.
So, for the three thousand Moonlight Orchids Pei Ze had brought, he would need thirty Magic Oak Seeds for an even trade.
"Do you have anything else like that?" Pei Ze asked. "I’m heading to the Plane Battlefield soon and I want something for protection."
Hearing that Pei Ze was going to the Plane Battlefield, a look of worry and sadness flashed across Tining’s face.
She was worried, of course, that her friend would be in danger. After all, the perils of the Plane Battlefield were infamous throughout the Multiverse.
Her sadness came from the fact that once he left, they might not see each other for months, or even years, and they wouldn’t be able to trade anymore.
Suppressing her emotions, Tining thought for a moment. Suddenly, an idea seemed to strike her. She said, "Wait a moment," then ran off with a TAP-TAP-TAP of her hooves.
A moment later, she came running back, TAP-TAP-TAP. As if presenting a treasure, she showed Pei Ze a shriveled object that looked like a thorn seed.
"This is it. The seed of a Battlefield Heather."
’Battlefield Heather?’
Pei Ze quickly racked his brain, but despite his vast knowledge, he drew a complete blank.
"Is this a Magical Creature?" Pei Ze asked.
Tining explained, "Battlefield Heather is a type of Magic Plant. It’s said to be a creature of war, created in ancient times for battle. I found it by chance in a secret realm."
Hearing that it was a creature specifically created for war, Pei Ze’s interest was piqued. "How strong is it?" he asked.
"Very strong!" Tining’s tone was emphatic. "In an open field or on the plains, a Battlefield Heather can easily annihilate a five-man squad of mid-tier Silver warriors. In a jungle, even a powerful high-tier Silver warrior would be no match for a single Battlefield Heather."
Pei Ze was overjoyed.
’Mid-tier Silver is equivalent to a Tier Two Legendary Knight.’
’And high-tier Silver corresponds to a Tier Three Legendary Knight.’
’Based on Tining’s description, the Battlefield Heather’s power is definitely at the Tier Three Legend level.’
"But the Battlefield Heather also has a significant drawback," Tining added suddenly.
Pei Ze paused. "What drawback?"
The Half Deer Maiden seemed to be recalling an unpleasant memory. A look of disgust crossed her face as she said, "Battlefield Heathers have very low intelligence. They’re not smart at all, can’t understand speech, and just charge around recklessly in battle."
"They also have a strong destructive urge. After killing their enemies, they’ll go on a rampage, and it takes a lot of effort to revert them back to their seed form."
Tining had clearly had a bad experience with a Battlefield Heather before. There was a hint of bitterness on her face as she spoke, suggesting she must have had a rough time with one.
Pei Ze, however, wasn’t bothered in the slightest.
’Compared to its formidable combat strength, such a small drawback is completely acceptable.’
"That’s great. I’ll take it. What’s your offer?"
Tining looked at him expectantly. "How about I trade this Battlefield Heather seed, plus the twenty-three Magic Oak Seeds, for your three thousand Moonlight Orchids?"
Pei Ze smiled and nodded without a moment’s hesitation.
"Deal."
The deal was struck, and both parties were very satisfied.
The two of them immediately began to draw the transaction Array.
As the Array lit up, the towering piles of Moonlight Orchids vanished instantly, replaced by twenty-four seeds.
Pei Ze swiftly collected the seeds, then went to the edge of the well and said to Tining, "It’ll probably be a long time before we see each other again. Take care."
"You too," Tining replied with a serious expression. "The Plane Battlefield is incredibly dangerous. You have to stay safe!"
...
After leaving the Otherworld Inn, Pei Ze headed straight for the High Tower Academy without a moment’s rest to say goodbye to Mo Weng.
Mo Weng simply tossed him a Scroll, told him to "be safe," and sent him on his way.
Stepping out of the cottage, Pei Ze looked down at the Scroll and discovered it was a precious Teleportation Scroll.
As long as an anchor point was set in advance, the Scroll could be activated from anywhere to instantly teleport the user back to that spot.
Of course, the only condition was that the user had to be on the same plane.
Only a higher-level Plane Teleportation Scroll could break through planar barriers.
However, Plane Teleportation Scrolls were treasures that existed only in legends.
At least, no one in Chenxi City had ever heard of a Wizard possessing a Plane Teleportation Scroll.
And while a Teleportation Scroll was no match for a Plane Teleportation Scroll, it was still an extremely precious Magic Item.
At an auction house, it would fetch a final price of well over ten thousand Magic Stone Coins.
In the right situation, this item was as good as a second life.
A warmth spread through Pei Ze’s chest. ’My teacher just gave me a life-saving item.’
When he emerged from High Tower Academy, Su Ya and Peng Yan were already waiting at the gate.
The two of them had rushed over immediately after receiving Pei Ze’s letter.
From the looks of it, they were already prepared to head to the Plane Battlefield.
Pei Ze scanned them with his Eye of Omniscience and found that both Su Ya and Peng Yan had broken through to the realm of Legendary Knight.
Su Ya had awakened the Power of Fire Element and Wind Elemental Power.
Peng Yan, on the other hand, had awakened the Power of Earth Element and the Power of Thunder Element.
’As expected. Legendary Knights who break through using the All-Knowing Breathing Technique all awaken Dual Elements Power,’ Pei Ze mused.
It was worth noting that Su Ya’s constitution attribute was at an energy level of 2.03.
Peng Yan’s was slightly higher, at 2.25.
’To be honest, in my eyes, their strength is far from powerful. It could even be described as weak.’
’They’re not even on par with a single Oak Guardian.’
He wasn’t concerned, however.
’Wizards don’t really prioritize strength when recruiting followers; at least, it isn’t the primary factor.’
’After all, how could a follower ever be stronger than the Wizard they serve?’
’Wizards recruit followers to have help handling mundane affairs, and occasionally, to deal with some clueless small fry.’
’So as long as their strength is passable, it’s good enough.’
’Besides, even if Su Ya and Peng Yan are weak now, their power will grow far faster than that of an ordinary Legendary Knight as they continue to cultivate the All-Knowing Breathing Technique.’
’The fact that both of their constitutions had surpassed an energy level of 2 just over a month after their advancement was clear proof of that.’
’Sooner or later, they too would become figures that other Legendary Knights look up to.’
"Let’s move out. To the Turin Plane."
