Chapter 1993: Chapter 1997: Drink a Little Less
Leng Zimo raised his bottle of mineral water to clink with his bottle of wine, and Leng Zirui chuckled softly, taking another sip of his drink. "How’s Xiao Xia?"
"Don’t worry, she’s fine. I spoke with Mo Mo on the phone earlier; they should be back in Beijing by now," Leng Zimo replied.
Leng Zirui nodded gently, his brows furrowing immediately after. "Speaking of which, I really can’t figure it out. Just the night before, when I saw Xiao Qian, she was perfectly fine. How could she not recognize anything after just one night?"
Leng Zimo gripped the water bottle, not responding.
Generally speaking, amnesia in individuals is due to brain issues or some severe head trauma. However, Leng Zimo had seen Xiao Qian before, and at least from her appearance, there were no signs of injury, essentially ruling out this possibility. After all, Leng Zimo also knew about Luo Ke’s feelings for Luo Xiaoqian. He wouldn’t intentionally hurt her.
Leng Zimo suddenly thought of a possibility.
"Could it be that..."
"What?!"
Leng Zirui turned his head in confusion.
"Do you remember my amnesia incident five years ago?" Leng Zimo looked into his eyes and asked.
"Are you suggesting... that Luo Ke might have done the same to Luo Xiaoqian?" Leng Zirui read the meaning in his eyes. Remembering what Roselia had told him earlier, it seemed that Roselia wasn’t surprised by Luo Xiaoqian’s amnesia. This implied that it was not an accident, but rather that Luo Ke had planned it all along. In this case, Leng Zimo’s guess seemed very likely, "According to what you’re saying, the person who hypnotized Luo Xiaoqian is very likely still on the island?"
"If that’s indeed the case, we can help her recover her memory through hypnosis," Leng Zimo replied confidently. "We can ask Dr. Yin, who helped hypnotize me back then, to help us."
Due to his previous amnesia, Luo Xiaoqian had also talked to him about Dr. Yin and even wanted to invite Dr. Yin to their wedding. Unfortunately, due to Dr. Yin’s schedule, it didn’t happen.
Leng Zirui nodded.
"Alright, I will find a way to get to the bottom of this and then contact Ah Jiu and the others to look for Dr. Yin." His gaze lingered on Leng Zimo, with a hint of concern in his voice, "But tonight, you’ll have to sleep in the forest."
There were plenty of rooms in the villa, but Leng Zimo wasn’t a welcome guest, so there was naturally no bed for him.
"I’ll wait for your message." Leng Zimo stood up.
Leng Zirui glanced at his still wet clothes, grabbed a bottle of wine from the rack, and handed it to him casually, "Drink a little to ward off the cold and avoid catching a cold."
Leng Zimo took the wine and put it in his backpack, then unceremoniously grabbed some canned food and water from the shelf. Leng Zirui took his half-drunk bottle and exited the basement again, ensuring no one was around before waving Leng Zimo away.
Hunched over, Leng Zimo swiftly dashed into the nearby woods, vanishing from sight.
"Be careful and find a safe place."
Reminding him through the earpiece, Leng Zirui closed the storage room’s small door and wobbled back to the villa with the wine bottle in hand.
Leng Zimo, on the other hand, rushed all the way into the mountain forest, finding a sheltered and hidden place to temporarily settle in. He took out the bottle of wine from his backpack, carefully reached a spot with a wide view, and sat down against a large tree, sipping the wine slowly to dispel the damp chill, while his eyes were fixed solely on the villa below the mountain.
