Chapter 784: Chapter 632: Second Update
If compared with a nanny van, Ning Youguang felt that holding the money was much more satisfying.
"I’ll take it." She reached out, took back the bank card placed in front of Shi Wangyue, and put it beside her.
Xie Yizun didn’t care who took it between the two of them.
As long as they took it, he was happy and his appetite soared, "Brother-in-law, I want to eat steak."
Shi Wangyue, good-tempered as ever, grilled a piece of steak for him.
With Shi Wangyue handling the barbecue, Ning Youguang and the siblings Xie Yizun had nothing much to do aside from eating.
"The feeling of being full is really amazing." Xie Yizun swallowed the last bite of the sausage with a cup of apple goji berry tea, "It’s so delicious."
Ning Youguang watched him become so satisfied with just one sausage and felt this kid was really quite pitiable, "Wangyue, grill some beef tendon for him."
"Yes, yes, I want to eat that."
...
After finishing the barbecue around the stove, it was past one in the afternoon.
During this period, Ning Youguang carefully counted, Xie Yizun received a total of three phone calls and four voice messages before he probably got annoyed himself and directly turned off his phone. Only then could the three finally eat this barbecue feast in peace.
In winter afternoons, past two o’clock, even if you are sleepy, there’s no need for a nap.
She sat at the dining table, holding her face in her hands, watching Xie Yizun do the dishes beside the sink. As she watched, she suddenly started laughing.
"Sis, why are you laughing?"
Ning Youguang said, "I feel like I’m watching a variety show."
"Variety show?" Xie Yizun didn’t get it, "What variety show?"
Having finished all the following clean-up work that Xie Yizun couldn’t do, Shi Wangyue sat down next to Ning Youguang, "Would you like me to get a camera and film a video for him?"
Xie Yizun, maybe it was a reflex or something, his hand shook when he heard Shi Wangyue say this, and a bowl dropped to the floor, shattering to pieces.
"Brother-in-law, please spare me?!" He squatted on the ground with a miserable look, holding his head, "It’s hard enough for me to slack off a bit, can you keep the camera away from me?"
"Okay, okay, okay." Ning Youguang stood up, intending to get a broom, but was stopped by Shi Wangyue, "I’ll go get it."
"Sit, I’ll get it." Ning Youguang pushed Shi Wangyue’s hand off her, "The chef is tired; take a break first."
After cleaning up the broken pieces on the floor, Ning Youguang walked to Xie Yizun’s side and helped put away the dishes he had washed, "You’ve wanted to be an international superstar since you were a child. When did you start being camera-shy?"
"Sis, don’t say that." Xie Yizun sighed, "I’ve been traumatized by too many NGs on set recently, now I have a shadow when I see a camera."
"Is acting really that hard?" Ning Youguang asked back.
"Yes," Xie Yizun said, "No matter how I shoot it, it doesn’t feel like what I want. This is my first lead role, and I want to do it well."
Ning Youguang turned and glanced at Xie Yizun, who was cleaning the sink with his head down, "You’ve just started acting, why put yourself through the trouble of taking a lead role? You could have taken on a few supporting roles first, practiced a bit on set, and not put yourself in such a difficult situation."
Xie Yizun also knew that his skills were lacking, but he found it hard to accept taking on supporting roles, "With my current fame, I’d be at least the second male lead in any production, where would there be any small roles?"
"If there aren’t any, just ask for one yourself." Ning Youguang said, "Roles are for you to choose. If you want to pick a supporting role yourself, who can force you to play the lead? You think there’s no one to play the lead?"
No matter what drama it is, the lead roles Xie Yizun could take were certainly the kind of resources that young actors in the entertainment industry would break their heads to fight for.
"Wouldn’t that lower my status?" Xie Yizun hesitated, "I’ve worked so hard studying acting with a teacher, is it just to play a supporting role?"
"Then let me ask you, if you think playing a supporting role lowers your status, can you be sure to play the lead well enough for the audience to accept it?" Ning Youguang asked back.
Xie Yizun shook his head.
If he had that confidence, he wouldn’t be as anxious and scared as he is now.
"So do you know why you’re so anxious now?" Ning Youguang asked again.
Xie Yizun shook and then nodded his head, "I’m afraid I won’t perform well."
"Exactly." Ning Youguang put the last bowl into the cabinet, started the disinfection function, and led Xie Yizun back to the dining table to sit. "You clearly know that you don’t have the right skills yet, but you insist on taking on roles beyond your reach. Is it any wonder why you’d feel this way? Everyone can only do what’s within their abilities and can only do well what’s within their abilities."
"But..." Xie Yizun rebutted, "Even though I’m not good at acting now, it doesn’t mean I’ll always be bad, I’m diligently taking acting classes daily."
He said, "I basically spend most of my time like a dry sponge, seriously learning a lot of things."
"Are you satisfied with your current progress?" Ning Youguang asked again.
Xie Yizun remained silent for a while, then shook his head, "No, I think I might really lack a talent for acting."
"No, no, no," Ning Youguang denied, "Mom said you actually have a talent for acting."
"Did she really say that?" A flash of joy briefly appeared in Xie Yizun’s eyes, but there remained doubt on his face.
"Of course," Ning Youguang affirmed, "Last time at the hospital, after you left, she talked to me about your acting."
"Alright then." Xie Yizun puzzledly scratched his head, "But why do I find the footage I’ve done so ugly?"
"Because it’s not natural," Ning Youguang responded, "You’re working hard to act and improve your skills, but once you’re in front of the camera on set, you become unnatural."
"Right, I also feel I can’t relax," Xie Yizun sighed, "I’ve asked many people on set for advice on this issue, but..."
"But what?"
"I ask about the essence, they answer with phenomenon. I ask for reasons, they just give me results," Xie Yizun furrowed his brows, "I feel like they’re not truly answering my questions."
"Giving answers is tricky. You’ve just entered the set, they don’t know you that well, there’s no reason to teach you everything," Ning Youguang chuckled lightly, "So the problem is still something you need to find a solution for yourself."
"I asked the teacher too, but his methods weren’t enough to correct my issue," Xie Yizun said, feeling troubled.
In terms of acting, heaven can witness.
He truly is dedicated and serious.
"What did the teacher say?" Ning Youguang asked.
"The teacher told me not to pressure myself, not to keep considering how to act well, but to treat myself as the character, integrating emotions and feelings into the character."
"Did it help?"
"A little bit, but not much improvement." After saying this, Xie Yizun asked, "Sis, do you have any advice for me?"1314
