"Do you want to have some BBQ later?" Shi Wangyue asked, holding a candle as he added oil to the charcoal.
It would take a while for the charcoal to fully ignite.
The wind and rain were strong on the terrace, and it was actually quite cold for the two of them on the balcony.
Luckily, they had the stove at hand. Xie Yizun squatted beside him, warming himself as he waited for the charcoal to catch.
"Of course!" In this cold weather, no one can resist a BBQ by the stove. "I want to eat grilled wings, sausages, beef tendons, fish balls, steak..."
The requests were quite a few.
Shi Wangyue smiled, "You’ll need to check the fridge; we may not have everything you want."

"The left side is for freezing, and the right is for fresh storage," Ning Youguang replied before chuckling, "Why the sudden desire for BBQ?"

He worried his sister might think preparing tea and grilling meat at the same time would smell fishy.
Unexpectedly, Ning Youguang was quite agreeable, "Oh, then take more chicken wings and shrimp; your brother-in-law loves those."
Xie Yizun felt a bit conflicted, "Sis, I like beef, steak, fish balls..."
"That’s fine," Ning Youguang said casually, "though I’m not sure if we have any in the fridge."

Xie Yizun stood in silence, watching Ning Youguang make tea for a moment, before turning to rummage through the fridge.
Soon, he found a large bag of chicken wings, fish, and shrimp in the freezer, yet, however much he searched, no beef or steak.
"Sis, why don’t you have beef and steak here? I didn’t see any fish balls either." He had eaten fish balls at his sister’s house twice before, once in fish ball soup and once in curry fish balls.
He was still craving that fish ball flavor.
"Take everything out and check; if there really isn’t any, just order takeout," Ning Youguang continued brewing tea. "Or wait and I’ll find it for you after I’m done with the tea?"
Just then, Shi Wangyue entered, carrying the stove, "I’ll find it for him."

Soon, the three of them started their lunch BBQ by the small red clay stove.
The first round on the brand-new grill was oranges and mochi. Xie Yizun leaned on the table, looking at the oranges on the stove and remarked to his sister, "Sis, what’s the difference between grilled and ungrilled oranges?"
"Of course there’s a difference," Ning Youguang leisurely replied, "Grilled oranges can relieve cough, clear phlegm, aid digestion, and improve appetite, as well as promote bowel movements."
"I’ve never had this before," said Xie Yizun.
"You can try it now." Ning Youguang used tongs to take a slightly charred orange off the grill and placed it on a plate in front of Xie Yizun. "Eat it. I grilled it just for you, didn’t you have a bit of a cough?"
Xie Yizun felt revitalized, "Thanks, sis."
He reached for the orange to peel it but burned his fingertips.
"Take it easy." Shi Wangyue took the orange from in front of him and started peeling it.
"I feel like the world is most comfortable when I’m with you two." Xie Yizun pulled out a wet wipe to clean his hands, remarking, "These are heavenly days."
"Visit more often if you like it," Ning Youguang said, "We have space for you to stay."
"How about adding another roommate? The rent-paying kind," Xie Yizun ambitiously suggested, "I don’t want to live at my place anymore; it’s too public, I’m totally fed up."
Shi Wangyue’s eyebrow twitched, and Ning Youguang straightforwardly rejected Xie Yizun, "No."
"Really can’t?" Xie Yizun pouted, giving Ning Youguang a pitiful look, "The kind that works ten months a year, I’d only stay two months, can’t I pay a year’s rent and stay for two months?"
"No." Ning Youguang picked up a grilled mochi, slightly charred, and placed it in front of Xie Yizun, her expression gentle but her words firm, "Sorry, Wangyue and I are already at full capacity looking after each other. You occasionally crashing a meal we can handle, anything else is beyond us."
"What do you two need to look after each other for?!" Xie Yizun covered his face, "Besides, I don’t need you to look after me. Just give me a place, let me be a fly on the wall, that’s enough. I promise not to bother you."
"I’m sorry, little brother." Ning Youguang sighed softly, "Wangyue and I can’t fit a third person into our world of two."

Xie Yizun said, "The money for the car, I said back then I’d pay you back, brother-in-law, did you forget?"
Shi Wangyue laughed, "Consider it a gift, no need to repay."
"No, no, no, we agreed back then it was a loan, I have to repay it." Xie Yizun wiped his long fingers.
Shi Wangyue shook his head, turned back to continue grilling sausages.
The refusal to accept money was clear.
Seeing this, Ning Youguang remembered what car Xie Yizun was talking about.
So she laughed, "Yiyi, if your brother-in-law doesn’t take it, just take it back."
"No way." Xie Yizun’s attractive face was full of unwavering determination, "I said I’d pay it back, so I will."
