Chapter 15: Arriving At the Camp, A Spot

"Ready, Aidan?"

Seeing him nod, Sophia started the exam.

In front of Aidan, twenty meters away, five puppets emerged from the floor.

All five were wolf-type monsters.

Aidan pointed his index finger forward, gesturing as if it were a gun.

Five magic circles activated, each one releasing a bullet the size of fifteen centimeters with gyrospin to increase its penetration, crimson and cyan patterned, containing the power of Blood and Wind, and empowered with Break, Bleed, Spin, and Spiral Flow.

This was a simple spell he created and named Magic Bullets.

They were designed with a real bullet-shooting mechanism with gyrospin to increase their speed and penetration, but the spell was a more advanced version of how real bullets shot out of guns, thanks to his aspects. He could modify the bullets accordingly once he got more powers in his arsenal, so he named the spell universally like that.

All five bullets headed straight towards the targets, striking their heads with pinpoint precision.

The bullets penetrated them, and Aidan sensed them embedding inside the bodies of the puppets.

"It’s over," Aidan muttered and snapped his fingers.

All the compressed wind bursts inside the bullets exploded, blasting apart the metal puppets bearing the same toughness as Tier-4 monsters.

"Wow." Sophia clapped. "What kind of spell is that? Looks simple, but packs such speed and power."

"Magic Bullet Art: Redwind Burst Bullets." Aidan grinned.

"Wow, it must be a high-tier spell." Sophia’s eyes shone.

Aidan chuckled and walked towards the dashboard.

"Here, your card is also ready." Sophia took out a card from a device, freshly made, and handed it over to Aidan.

"Nice and simple." Aidan smiled. "Now then, thank you for the coffee offer, but I have to head out for the next task."

"Aw, that’s unfortunate." Sophia chuckled. "Maybe next time."

"Yep. Maybe next time."

...

After contacting Beatrix, he arrived at Blue Vortex Guild’s headquarters, which was seven miles away.

Beatrix was already there, waiting for him.

The headquarters consisted of a 300-meter-radius walled area with three buildings, one giant six-floor-tall mansion, and two smaller ones.

There was a training ground and a streaming water irrigation system connecting to the pond and an external water source.

"Looks pretty good." Aidan nodded as he looked around.

"Of course. We are the 34th-ranked guild globally." Beatrix smiled. "And good news for you. There’s a newly discovered Tier-3 Terrorized Dimension, and Blue Vortex is one of its contenders."

Aidan blinked. "Contenders? Is it about bidding?"

"Nope. There are no auctions for lower-ranked dimensions. We are contending with the 28th-ranked guild Blazing Wings, the 52nd-ranked guild Whispering Light, the 73rd-ranked guild Leonus Arten, and the 86th-ranked guild Jadeblade."

Beatrix looked at Aidan and added, "Each guild will send a team of five people inside. A safety wristband will be given, a device that can instantly eject you out of the dimension should you trigger it."

Aidan narrowed his eyes. "So these five people will compete with each other and attack each other."

Beatrix nodded. "It’s a race. A race to see which team reaches the corrupted core of the dimension and purifies it. The best way is naturally by eliminating the other teams, and that’s what all teams will be doing."

"Sounds fun." Aidan grinned.

"It is, but there’s a little hiccup that you’ll have to overcome to join the team." Beatrix chuckled. "The team is already made up, but as one of the ten captains of the guild, I can tell the management to make some adjustments."

After entering the main building, Beatrix first registered Aidan as a part of the Blue Vortex Guild, a C-rank Hunter as indicated by his Hunter Card.

Afterward, Beatrix and Aidan hopped onto a flying carpet she pulled out and flew towards the location of the Terrorized Dimension’s gate.

Five large tents were camped around the Terrorized Dimension’s gate.

Beatrix and Aidan went into the Blue Vortex Guild’s camp.

"Vice Leader Howzer," Beatrix nodded at a blue-haired handsome man, six feet tall, wearing a white buttoned vest with golden and blue embroidery and sleek black pants.

Howzer looked at Aidan and slightly narrowed his eyes. "Beatrix told me about you. But even though you are her nephew, we don’t do favoritism here. If you want a spot, defeat one of these five."

He gestured at five people, all young and in their early twenties. Two girls and three boys.

All of them were C-rank Hunters. Clearly, the guilds were not risking it by putting any D-rank Hunters on the team, even though Tier-3 Terrorized Dimensions were mainly for D-rank Hunters.

After all, this was an important contest to decide which one of the five guilds would own this Terrorized Dimension and get a chance to make it permanent, and according to the rules, they could only send up to C-rank Hunters, so they had sent their best C-rank Hunters.

"Well, I can fight any of them, so..." Aidan’s eyes stopped on a slim guy wearing a black-patterned blue robe that suited his face and black hair.

"You seem like you want to fight me, so let’s do it." Aidan grinned. He could sense that guy’s fighting intent towards him.

"I suppose it’d be worth it." Rai smiled as a curved sword appeared in his hand.

"Let’s go behind the tent," Howzer said as he turned around and left first through the exit behind him.

The others followed.
