Chapter 162: Chapter 129: Advancement, Mage Professional

The Fireball happened to strike a Goblin that had been tripped by its companion amidst the chaos. It took down several nearby Goblins along with it, killing four in one go.

[Fireball Technique] Skill Level +4

’It worked!’

The moment he saw the notification, Lin Mo’s eyes cleared. The groggy, heavy-headed feeling instantly dissipated for the most part.

Skill [Fireball Technique] Lv4 (100/100) has leveled up!

Current Skill: [Fireball Technique] Lv5 (Max)

Gained Attributes: Magic Power +1, Spirit +1

Automatically evolved into New Skill: [Blast Flame Fireball]

Learned New Skill [Blast Flame Fireball]. Magic Power +2.

[Blast Flame Fireball] Lv1 (0/10): Condense and compress the Fire Element to create a "Blast Flame Fireball." Upon impact, it explodes, dealing damage to enemies within the blast radius.

Simply put, it was an upgraded version of Fireball with greater power and an explosive area of effect.

The Technique itself was rather common, but its actual power and effect should be quite impressive.

Besides...

A mere 1-point increase in Spirit couldn’t have allowed his mental state to recover so much from the brink of collapse.

The main reason he recovered so suddenly was that he had advanced!

That’s right. The 1 point of Magic Power from maxing out Fireball Technique, plus the 2 points from learning Blast Flame Fireball, added up to exactly 3 points. This raised his Magic Power from 7 to a perfect 10.

Combined with maxing out Fireball Technique, he had directly met the requirements for advancing to the Mage Professional class!

Advancement conditions met. Obtained Profession: Mage (Lv1)

Obtained Professional Attribute Amplification: Agility +1, Magic Power +4, Spirit +1!

Obtained Class Skill: Mage’s Heart!

This was the fourth Profession Lin Mo had obtained. He now held four Professions simultaneously!

Lin Mo eagerly checked the effects of Mage’s Heart.

[Mage’s Heart]: The mysteries of the Elements are hereby unlocked; may the glory of Magic shine upon you!

Skill Effect: Increases Magic Power recovery speed by 10%. Reduces the mental strain of casting Magic by 10%.

’Not bad, not bad.’

While it didn’t provide any direct boosts, it did offer some improvement to a Mage’s two biggest weaknesses: running out of Magic Power and mental strain.

A joyful expression appeared on Lin Mo’s face as he eagerly unleashed his newly acquired Skill: Blast Flame Fireball.

A massive amount of the Fire Element rapidly condensed and compressed in his hand, forming a Fireball about the same size as his previous ones, but with a deeper, more profound color.

At a glance, there didn’t seem to be much of a difference.

But just like the Thunder Strike Skill, it consumed a solid four times the Magic Power.

’So, what about its effect?’

Lin Mo aimed for the densest cluster of Goblins and let the Blast Flame Fireball fly from his hand.

The Blast Flame Fireball accurately struck a Goblin, and along with the unlucky soul next to it, was burned beyond recognition, dying on the spot.

But the Skill’s effects clearly didn’t end there...

BOOM—!

The next moment, a thunderous explosion erupted. The Blast Flame Fireball detonated like a grenade, its blazing flames spreading out and engulfing a dozen or so nearby Goblins.

A few were killed instantly by the blast. The rest, standing a little farther away, were also swallowed by the flames. Their bodies burned as they shrieked in agony, but after a few seconds, they too fell silent.

[Blast Flame Fireball] Skill Level +12

Skill [Blast Flame Fireball] Lv1 (10/10) has leveled up!

Current Skill: [Blast Flame Fireball] Lv2 (2/20)

’It’s that strong?!’

Even Lin Mo, the one who had cast the spell, was stunned.

A single spell had taken out 12 Goblins. With that kind of power, it could probably even one-shot an adolescent Mutated Goblin.

Even a fully grown Mutated Goblin would be in for a world of hurt.

This was, of course, partly due to the inherent power of the Magic itself. But it was also because his Secret Silver Gloves and his 25% Fire Element Affinity were taking effect, greatly amplifying the spell’s power.

Of course, for such powerful Magic, the cost and the mental strain were anything but pretty.

Even though Lin Mo had just gained 2 points of Spirit, he couldn’t afford that kind of consumption. To prevent mental fatigue from affecting the rest of the battle, he decided it was best not to use this new Magic for the time being.

’But I should still be able to cast some Ordinary Level Magic a few more times...’

Lin Mo’s gaze fell upon a spell he had learned but had yet to use: the Earth Shield Skill.

He had a peculiar idea, and this was the perfect opportunity to put it into practice.
