Chapter 161: Chapter 129: Advancement, Mage Professional

Landon contemplated for a few seconds. "How about this? A few squads will head back to help defend, and the rest will wait here a little longer to see what happens. What do you say?"

"Our squad will head back first, then."

"Our squad too..."

"I want to go too."

Compared to staying put, the restless Adventurers were clearly more eager to go straight back and kill monsters.

Fortunately, Landon still held some sway. In the end, he only allowed three squads to return, while the rest continued to wait.

Before they knew it, another hour had passed.

The Scout who had delivered the message had long since returned to his post, but no new information arrived.

The Adventurers waiting on the spot were nowhere near as sharp as they had been when they first arrived.

They had already been rushing about all day, and now they had been waiting idly for several hours. It was becoming incredibly difficult to stay alert.

"Let’s just go back. I don’t think the Goblins are coming..."

"You said it. If I’d known, I would’ve just stayed near the town. I could’ve killed dozens of Goblins by now."

Voices like these grew more frequent, and the pressure on Landon mounted. He was starting to lose his grip on the Adventurers’ simmering resentment.

"Just a little longer. Please, everyone, just a little longer..."

He could only repeat those words over and over. In truth, even he was itching to leave.

"Everyone!"

A Scout suddenly burst out of the woods, rushing over while gasping for breath. Seeing the crowd of Adventurers, he let out a sigh of relief. "Good, you’re all still here... The attack on the pass suddenly weakened after a while. The commander suspected it was a trick and sent me to let you all know..."

The words had barely left his mouth when the sound of dense footsteps echoed from the distance.

Lin Mo’s senses immediately sharpened.

’Just as I thought. I was right!’

"Everyone, prepare for battle!"

A wave of fear washed over Landon. It had been so close. If it weren’t for Lin Mo, he would have already led the Adventurers back. If that had happened...

He didn’t let the thought finish. He raised his Magic Staff, his gaze turning fierce as he stared in the direction of the sound.

After waiting for so long and enduring so much pressure, all his frustration had been bottled up.

All Landon wanted now was to unleash his Magic and rip those Goblins to shreds!

Soon, a huge horde of Goblins appeared before the Adventurers. They were advancing quickly under the cover of night, their objective terrifyingly clear!

"Wind Roll Skill!"

Landon roared, and bluish-green Magic Power converged on his Magic Staff. A small tornado instantly formed, sucking in the dozen or so Goblins at the front.

The tornado surged forward, sweeping up more Goblins. The sharp winds tore through their bodies like blades, acting as a veritable meat grinder and leaving a field of mangled remains in its wake.

That one spell alone had instantly killed over thirty Goblins.

’So strong!’

Lin Mo watched with a hint of envy at the spell that was causing such widespread destruction.

’That has to be an Excellent Level Skill, right?’

’There’s a reason they call him "Gale Landon."’

Landon’s spell was the signal, sounding the charge for the Adventurers’ assault.

Instantly, the Adventurers, who had been bottling up their anger for hours, charged forward in a great swarm, descending upon the Goblins.

Lin Mo, however, remained calm.

He didn’t use powerful Skills like Invisibility or Sword Storing and Continuous Slash to vent his frustration. Instead, he put on his Secret Silver Gloves and unhurriedly stretched out his hand. Firelight gathered in his palm, forming a Fireball that shot forward.

The Fireball Technique struck true, instantly dispatching two Goblins huddled together.

Landon was taken aback.

’Magic?’

’I thought I was the only Mage in this squad.’

He looked in the direction the Fireball had come from and saw Lin Mo conjuring another one, hurling it at a Goblin in front of him.

’It’s him...’

’He’s dressed like a Warrior, and he said he was a Professional Level Warrior during the introductions. Who would’ve thought he could also use Magic?’

’And his skill isn’t half-bad, either. He’s probably not far from becoming a Professional.’

After the initial surprise, however, he threw himself back into the battle.

Lin Mo’s guess had been correct. The attack on the pass was just a feint; the number of Goblins coming this way was clearly far greater!

After that initial outburst, Landon stopped squandering his Magic Power and began using more conservative, Ordinary Level Magic.

His Magic Power was formidable; a simple Wind Blade could decapitate several Goblins at once.

Lin Mo, for his part, was in no rush. He calmly used the Goblins to grind his Fireball Technique Skill Proficiency.

Because there were so many Goblins packed so densely together, his efficiency was remarkably high. Each Fireball Technique was guaranteed to kill at least two Goblins, and with a bit of luck, he could even take out three!

[Fireball Technique] Skill Proficiency +2

[Fireball Technique] Skill Proficiency +3

...

Lin Mo’s Magic Attribute had now reached 7. The cost of an ordinary Fireball Technique wasn’t too high for him, so he cast them one after another, and his Skill Proficiency shot up.

In no time at all, he had gained 48 points of Skill Proficiency.

His Fireball Technique’s progress reached Level 4 (94/100).

Only 6 more points of Skill Proficiency and it would level up!

However, while his Magic Power was holding up fine after casting so many spells in a row, his Spirit was starting to buckle. A wave of dizziness washed over him, and his head throbbed.

He gritted his teeth. ’Just a little more to go. Push through!’

Fighting through the discomfort, he cast another Fireball Technique, accurately striking two Goblins.

[Fireball Technique] Skill Proficiency +2

’Just 4 more points...’

Lin Mo conjured another Fireball Technique. His vision went black for a moment, and it took him a few seconds to recover before he hurled the Fireball at the Goblins.
