Chapter 126: Chapter 105: New Mission
Meanwhile, Lin Mo also struck, lopping off the heads of two Goblins with a single swing of his sword. He followed up with a casual Ice Cone Skill, piercing the throat of the last one.
He didn’t let them make a single sound the entire time.
The group continued forward, moving slowly under the cover of the dense forest.
Soon, a clearly more established settlement appeared before Lin Mo’s eyes.
Compared to the one from two days ago, this settlement had already constructed a proper "wall" nearly a meter high. Inside the wall were many wooden huts of various sizes, and the nicer ones were even decorated with flowers and plants.
In the middle of the settlement stood a wooden rack hung with the meat of various animals. Some human limbs could be seen among them as well.
’These guys are even starting to make jerky...’
It was the end of mealtime. A dozen or so Ordinary Goblins were lined up around a nearly empty cauldron, scooping out the last dregs and stuffing them into their mouths.
Most of the other Goblins were already lying about leisurely. A few Mutated Goblins dwelled in wooden huts, their beds made of straw piles covered with tattered clothes.
As for the three largest wooden huts, they were too far away to see clearly.
Lin Mo did a quick count. Judging by the number of huts, if he assumed the occupants of the three largest ones were also Mutated Goblins, that brought the total to seven of them!
Moreover, the ones in the three largest huts were likely all adults. There might even be individuals with a Threat Level of 1.5 or higher, as mentioned in the mission briefing.
"A direct assault wouldn’t be a good idea in this situation..."
Rick frowned. Seven Mutated Goblins, plus nearly 200 Ordinary Goblins... Even for the now greatly enhanced Bull Run Squad, facing them head-on wasn’t a guaranteed win.
Alton was in a tight spot as well. As the captain, he had to prioritize safety. The scale of this Goblin Settlement was larger than they had anticipated, bordering on a medium-sized settlement. To be honest, it was slightly beyond the Bull Run Squad’s capabilities.
"I’ll go scout it out."
Lin Mo agreed that the situation was unexpected. This settlement’s overall strength was more than double that of the one he’d dealt with two days prior. Plus, the status of the three strongest Mutated Goblins was still unknown. He had to go confirm things first.
"Alright. Be extremely careful!"
Alton cautioned.
Lin Mo nodded and continued to approach the settlement, using the bushes for cover.
He circled around to the rear of the settlement, leaped lightly over the wall, and activated [Invisibility] the moment he landed.
The slight noise made a Mutated Goblin glance over, but it saw nothing and dismissed it as the sound of the wind.
The six seconds of invisibility were just enough for Lin Mo to reach the largest hut.
Peering inside, he saw an exceptionally tall Mutated Goblin dozing off with its chin propped on its hand.
Judging by its build, it was clearly much stronger than an ordinary Adult Mutant Goblin. As for exactly how much stronger, that was hard to tell without a proper fight.
Lin Mo retreated behind the hut. His [Invisibility] wore off, but with the hut for cover, he didn’t have to worry about being exposed.
A few seconds later, he activated [Invisibility] again and peeked into the adjacent hut.
The one inside this hut was a more or less ordinary Mutated Goblin, no different from the adult ones he had seen before.
’Should I make a move?’
Wolf Bone Sword in hand, Lin Mo watched the snoring Mutated Goblin, hesitating.
He only had one chance for a surprise attack. If he chose the one in front of him, he was one hundred percent certain he could kill it instantly. However, that might not significantly help the overall situation. If he went for the strongest Mutated Goblin he just saw, the outcome was uncertain...
