Chapter 55: Ancestor of the Abyss
Abyssal Court Palace!
The moment Rios read those words, his heartbeat accelerated at an insane pace.
He turned to Lily and hurriedly asked in a trembling voice,
"L-Lily... what do you know about the place called the Abyss?"
"As I mentioned before, Sir, the Abyss is one of the fifteen Cosmic Realms. It’s unique because it’s composed of nine layers stacked on top of one another, giving it the appearance of a bottomless abyss. It’s also the Cosmic Realm with the fewest planets and stars, but the greatest number of meteors and asteroids. Its inhabitants are renowned for their incredible ferocity in battle and their never-ending wars."
Lying on her back as she floated through the air, Lily lazily circled around Rios while explaining.
"Then... do you know anyone called ’the Abyss’?"
Rios finally asked the question that had truly been on his mind.
"Hmm..."
Lily stopped circling him, landed on top of his head, placed a finger against her chin, and pondered for a while before finally saying,
"No, Sir. There isn’t anyone by the name of ’the Abyss’ in my database."
She shook her head before suddenly raising a finger.
"But perhaps you’re referring to the Ancestor of the Abyss."
"The Ancestor of the Abyss? Who is that?"
Rios’s heart skipped a beat as he hurriedly asked.
"The Ancestor of the Abyss, Sir, was the first of the Five Sovereigns who ruled the universe. He is also the founder of the Abyssal Court."
"Do you know anything else?"
Rios asked, secretly hoping for more, but Lily ultimately shook her head apologetically.
"No, Sir. That’s all the information I possess regarding the Ancestor of the Abyss. Perhaps you could purchase additional information from one of the major powers, or from the Court of Secrets, but you won’t obtain much. Individuals of that level are shrouded behind a veil of mystery and secrecy."
The Ancestor of the Abyss... At least I finally have a lead.
Although it wasn’t the answer he had hoped for, it was enough for now.
Rios let out a quiet sigh, regained his focus, and returned his attention to more important matters.
Turning toward Lily, he said,
"Lily, I want to exchange my monster cores for Prime."
"Come with me, Sir. The Eternal Night Palace is responsible for such matters."
Lily grabbed Rios’s hand and flew toward the Eternal Night Palace, with Rios following closely behind.
Stopping before the palace’s enormous entrance, Rios found himself standing before a gate hundreds of meters tall and dozens of meters wide. Although it was only slightly open, the gap alone was wide enough for at least a hundred people to walk through side by side without the slightest difficulty.
After entering, Rios found himself inside an enormous reception hall filled with millions of beings of every imaginable shape and size.
There were beasts, humans, demi-humans, and even monstrous creatures with humanoid forms.
The crowd sat in groups upon countless rows of seats. In front of every group stood a massive reception counter staffed by tens of thousands of employees.
Whenever someone’s turn arrived, the entire line moved forward. The front seat, occupied by the customer being served, vanished, while a new seat materialized at the back for another customer to sit down.
At first glance, it looked as though serving so many customers would take forever.
In reality, however, there were dozens of reception counters, each staffed by tens of thousands of employees.
As a result, processing several million customers required less than an hour.
"Where should we go now?"
Rios asked while surveying the hall, already getting a headache just imagining waiting among such an enormous crowd.
"We should head to the VIP Office, Sir."
Lily pointed toward three doors off to one side.
A white door.
A purple door.
And a golden door.
The moment people noticed Rios walking toward the three doors, whispers spread rapidly throughout the hall.
But after seeing the golden assistant floating beside him, countless eyes widened in shock.
"Whose son is that?"
One person pointed toward Rios, quickly followed by many others from different groups.
His companion shrugged. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"How would I know? Maybe he’s one of the heirs of an Immortal Empire... or perhaps some old monster who’s spent over a one hundred million Prime."
"Impossible."
The first man shook his head.
"You may not know this, but the age of a soul can’t be forged. You can disguise your body’s age with treasures or extraordinary techniques, but a soul’s age always remains the same."
"And judging by his appearance, that young man is obviously only in his early twenties... which means he’s either the heir of an Immortal Empire... or..."
The man suddenly stopped speaking as his breathing became noticeably heavier.
"Or...?"
His companion asked in confusion.
"Gulp."
Swallowing hard, the man stared at Rios’s back and answered in a trembling voice,
"Or... he possesses Immortal-grade talent!"
After passing through the golden door, Rios was greeted by a breathtaking scene.
A vast blue lake stretched before him, its surface covered with beautiful aquatic flowers and plants that released an enchanting fragrance.
Beneath the crystal-clear water swam countless brilliantly colored fish with striking appearances.
Above the lake, flocks of tiny birds soared through the air, their melodious songs filling the surroundings with peace and tranquility.
Rios admired the scenery while standing atop the water without sinking or getting wet.
"This is incredible... Calling this place beautiful would be an understatement."
He quietly enjoyed the scenery around him.
Unfortunately, that moment of peace didn’t last long.
Light gathered roughly ten meters in front of him, and a gentle woman’s voice echoed through the air.
"I hope our humble office has met your expectations, esteemed guest."
A desk made of shimmering crystal materialized before him.
Seated behind it was a breathtakingly beautiful woman.
Her long blue hair flowed like a cascading waterfall.
Her thick blue eyelashes framed a pair of tranquil azure eyes, like a serene lake inviting anyone who looked into them to dive in forever.
Rios looked at her and narrowed his eyes.
A moment later, he smiled calmly.
"It’s certainly a beautiful place... and everything here is equally wonderful... without exception."
