Chapter 1953: Chapter 475: The Thief’s Heart Never Dies, Willingly Debased (Part 2)

"By the way, Sister Yun, you said you used to live in Country Hua. I also grew up in Country Hua when I was little. We really are destined, aren’t we? I wonder where you were in Country Hua?" Gan Wei’er seemed genuinely curious.

Yun Ya smiled gently: "Jiangzhou."

"Jiangzhou, huh? That’s a wonderful place, rich and beautiful. I’ve wanted to visit there since I was a child. No wonder Sister Yun is so beautiful; they say each place nurtures its own people, and it’s indeed true."

Yun Ya smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

"Sigh... Sister Yun is so lucky. Finding her birth mother, becoming a princess, and soon to marry Young Master Lorde. Sister Yun, you are truly the role model for us women." The young girl spoke with wide-eyed admiration.

Yun Ya laughed: "Lucky?"

Gan Wei’er nodded vigorously, "Yes, is there any woman luckier than Sister Yun in this world?"

Everyone said she was lucky, which was truly laughable.

Gan Wei’er lingered around for quite a while and said she’d come play again when she had time before leaving. Yun Ya was seriously annoyed by the girl, wasting her time with Brother Yan, but couldn’t say anything. Planning to ask her master for some medicine to let the girl rest for a few days, granting her some peace and quiet.

As expected, Gan Wei’er kept coming to see Yun Ya almost every day until she fell ill one day and didn’t come, allowing Yun Ya some peace at last.

The death of Prince Agunara went unresolved as well. It was heard that Sangque pressured King Lais, leaving him speechless, and so Agunara died inexplicably.

Neo and Lady Mindai also departed one after another, and Yun Ya did not go to see them off on the day they left.

In the blink of an eye, it became late June, and the weather grew increasingly hot. Yun Ya didn’t even leave the house, spending all day cozying up with Brother Yan in an air-conditioned room. However, even though Yun Ya occasionally teased him, Yan Song remained reserved, unwilling to break that final layer of pretense. Helpless, Yun Ya had to abandon the underhanded method of drugging him.

Let nature take its course.

Yan Song sometimes disappeared, and occasionally when Yun Ya woke up in the middle of the night, he wasn’t beside her. She’d panic, fearing it was all a dream, until he reappeared, and his familiar, warm presence gradually calmed her restless heart.

Yun Ya did not inquire about what Yan Song was doing, knowing that when the time was right, he would naturally tell her.

On this day, Butler Ziyu arrived, "Your Highness, the Queen requests your presence."

Since the incident with Lorde, the two of them hadn’t met.

Yun Ya followed Ziyu into the room, where rare treasures filled the empty space, and there stood a half-human-tall coral tree adorned with gemstones, dazzling and lighting up the whole room.

Ji Lanyi handed her a letter. Yun Ya took it and glanced at it. It was a letter from Sangque, essentially requesting her hand in marriage for his son. If the Queen agreed, a date would be set for the engagement, and these were the betrothal gifts. The words seemed sincere.

It seems that Lorde had successfully convinced Sangque.

Yun Ya said flatly, "You finally got what you wished for." Her tone was not without sarcasm.

"Lorde is indeed a man worthy of a lifetime commitment." Ji Lanyi smiled, "I’ve agreed to this marriage, so prepare yourself. I’ll arrange for someone to escort you to Country Q to fulfill the marriage agreement with Lorde."

Yun Ya clenched her fists. If she wanted to establish herself in the world as quickly as possible, marrying into Sangque’s family was the fastest and best approach. Just like that, she was selling herself for her ambition.

Yun Ya smirked, her expression cold: "What if I say no?"

Ji Lanyi’s glance swept over her calmly, even without words, gave off a chilling effect. Yun Ya straightened her back, looking defiant.

"Be sensible, this is the best choice for you." Ji Lanyi said tenderly and lovingly.

Yun Ya sneered: "I refuse; why should I marry a man I do not love?"

Ji Lanyi narrowed her eyes: "At this point, are you still thinking about that man?"

Yun Ya took a deep breath: "I swore I’d marry none but him in this life, unless you kill me."

"Heh..." Ji Lanyi chuckled lightly, reached out to touch Yun Ya’s face. Yun Ya tilted her head, avoiding her hand. Ji Lanyi suddenly raised her hand to grip Yun Ya’s chin, with such force that her fair skin flushed red instantly.

"My dear daughter, in this world, the most unreliable things are men and feelings. Only power is the fundamental way to establish yourself in this world. Mother wouldn’t harm you; one day, you will understand mother’s intentions."
