Chapter 485: Chapter 478: Probably Because Clara Offended Someone
Faye Jennings’s words were intentionally vague and loaded with meaning. She knew perfectly well that Miles Quinn had sent for Holly Summers, but she didn’t say so. It was a clear attempt to mislead Sienna Hale into thinking Clara Grant had called for her.
Her goal was to lead Sienna Hale to the conclusion that Clara Grant was the one who had instructed Holly Summers to go back and spread those ominous words.
Sure enough, Sienna Hale’s sharp gaze shot toward Clara Grant.
Clara Grant sighed inwardly. ’What a waste. Just a moment ago, I was feeling sorry for Faye Jennings, and now she’s already trying to frame me.’
Clara Grant met Sienna Hale’s probing stare and pursed her lips, about to confess, when Seth Quinn spoke up first. "Mom, I was the one who told Holly Summers to say that."
His words successfully shifted Sienna Hale’s attention from Clara Grant to him. Sienna Hale turned and walked a few steps back to the bedside, looking at him in confusion. "Why? Are you trying to cause a panic on set? This is a time when we need to be keeping morale high, but instead, you want to sow discord?"
Seth Quinn glanced at her. With Faye Jennings present—the very person Clara suspected—he didn’t explain further. He simply said coolly, "I have my reasons for doing this."
"President Quinn, I understand your purpose in doing this," Faye Jennings suddenly interjected. She stepped into the hospital room, stopping only when she reached the bed, her eyes greedily fixed on Seth Quinn, unblinking.
’It had only been a day since she’d last seen him, yet he looked so haggard. This is all Clara Grant’s fault. If it weren’t for her, Seth Quinn would never be in this state, lying here, wretched and in pain!’
After Holly Summers went back and spread the news, Faye had been worried all night, crying until her eyes were nearly swollen shut. ’She even started to regret swapping the bullet for a real one!’
’Even now, knowing Seth Quinn was safe, she was still terrified in hindsight. If Seth were gone, what would be the point of anything she’d done? If Seth Quinn died, what reason would she have to go on living?’
Seeing she had trailed off, Sienna Hale pressed her, "What do you understand?"
"I understand that President Quinn is doing this to find the culprit." Faye Jennings glanced at Sienna Hale, then her gaze fell back on Seth Quinn’s face.
"The culprit?" Sienna Hale was shocked. "Wasn’t it an accident?"
"Ma’am, it wasn’t an accident. The bullet in the gun was replaced with a real one. The motive... was probably because Clara has offended someone..." Faye Jennings said, glancing back at Clara Grant as she spoke.
Clara Grant could hear that Faye Jennings was steering all suspicion toward her with every word, but she didn’t want to argue, nor could she. Because what she was saying was true!
It was true she had offended someone, and it was true Seth Quinn had taken a bullet for her. What grounds did she have to refute any of it!
Sienna Hale also glanced at Clara Grant but said nothing.
Faye Jennings continued, "Clara, President Quinn, this is why I came today. I know who the culprit is."
"Who?" Sienna Hale asked urgently.
"Sandra!" Faye Jennings pursed her lips and announced.
Clara Grant stared intently at Faye Jennings’s back, lost in thought, and remained silent.
President Quinn also gave her a searching look and asked, "Evidence?"
"You can send someone back to the set with me. I’ll prove it to you."
The moment Faye Jennings finished speaking, Clara Grant spoke up. "I’ll go."
’I’d like to see for myself just what kind of evidence Faye Jennings has.’
