Chapter 342: Missing Renn?

Night came faster than she had thought. Everyone had left for the dining hall but she stayed back, sitting alone with her thoughts, trying to find a way to hide the pregnancy from everyone.

Her mind kept running in circles, thinking of what to do, what to say, and how to survive the days ahead.

By tomorrow morning, her roommates would be back and she would no longer have the freedom she had now.

She would have to be careful with every step she took, every breath she made. Getting kicked out of the west house had been a terrible mistake.

She would never forgive Kaito for what he did to her. He left her stranded and alone, far away from anyone who could have protected her when she needed it most.

Angela lay on the bed, staring at nothing. Even with the heavy burden she carried inside her, sleep still came early. Before she knew it, she was gone into deep sleep.

The alarm in her room did not wake her. It was the loud banging on her door that pulled her back to reality.

She blinked and slowly reached for her phone, realizing it was time for morning jog.

As a student of the Alpha academy, there was no way she could escape it unless an Alpha gave her permission.

Feeling weak and lazy, she forced herself out of bed and opened the door. The face she saw was not familiar at all. He looked like a senior student but she had never seen him before.

"Downstairs now," the senior boy ordered sharply. He did not wait for her response. He moved on to the next door and started banging again.

Angela sighed and went back inside to change into her track suit. It was still the West house uniform she had, since the school had not given her a new one yet.

She carefully adjusted her skull cap, then stepped out again into the cold air.

"Is this safe for the baby?" she asked herself quietly as she walked downstairs. Outside, a long line of students had already formed.

From what she heard, they were all heading to the west house to meet the rest of the students.

In a straight line, they began the jog together, moving as one group.

All the while, Angela could not stop worrying that she might hurt the baby inside her. But then another thought slipped into her mind. What if I am overreacting?

As soon as she entered the gate of the west house, her eyes met Kaito. He was standing upstairs, talking to Alex, clearly discussing something about today’s jog.

A cold shiver ran through her body and she stopped running immediately. Her feet froze in place and her eyes stayed locked on him without her permission.

She had not seen him since that night. No calls, no texts, nothing. Just silence. As if she never mattered at all.

Now standing there while he remained upstairs, Angela felt something rise in her chest that she could not control.

Her throat tightened and for a moment she thought she might break down and cry.

From the way he looked, she could tell he was doing just fine without her. He had moved on so easily, like everything between them meant nothing.

Like he had not played a fool out of her by making her believe he actually loved her.

The other mates loved her more.

"Hello Angel," Stales said as he walked over to her. He noticed the way her eyes were still fixed on Kaito but he pretended not to see it. Which one are you staring at, the Alpha or his beta

"Both," Angela replied quickly, looking away.

"I am not buying that," Stales said with a teasing smile. "You are looking at the Alpha."

"Not really," she lied again. "I was looking at them both."

Stales chuckled but did not push it further.

"What is going on here anyway, are we moving now?"

"Something like that," he replied as they walked toward the line that belonged to the west house. "You should stay here. Alex will protect you."

"I can protect myself," Angela said with a small frown. She did not want anyone thinking she needed protection. She had to learn how to stand on her own.

"I am happy to hear that, buddy," Stales said lightly.

"Have any of the leaders addressed the students yet, why are we not moving?" Angela asked, her voice carrying a bit of worry. She was still feeling sleepy and hoped the jog would not last too long so she could rest before classes began.

"Not yet. There are new rules to jogging this semester. That’s why you saw Kaito discussing with Alex over there."

Angela tried not to look up, but her eyes still drifted in his direction for a second before she quickly looked away again. She wished Kaito had not shown his face today. Just seeing him made her chest feel tight in a way she did not want to understand.

"You are still mad at him right?" Stales asked quietly.

"No," Angela whispered, her voice low as her eyes moved left and right to be sure no one was listening. "I am over him."

"Are you sure?" Stales tilted his head to the side, watching her closely.

"Y-yes, Stales and stop looking at me like that."

"Fine."

"Attention everyone," Kaito’s voice cut through the air.

Just the sound of it made something inside Angela react before she could stop it. A small rush of warmth, then pain, then silence all at once. She hated that her body still responded to him like that. She told herself she had moved on, but her heart never seemed to listen.

"We have a new principal now and rules have changed," Kaito began, but the students started murmuring and the noise slowly swallowed his words. No one was expecting it.

"What happened to Miss Valois?" Angela asked, her voice almost lost in the noise.

"I don’t know. Maybe she left because Renn did."

Angela felt her heart sink hard, like something inside her had been torn loose.

He actually left like she did not matter, like what they shared meant nothing at all. She stared down at the ground, trying to hold herself together. "I wonder how he is doing," she said softly, almost to herself.

"Oh please, stop," Stales rolled his eyes. "If you really wanted to know, you would have picked his calls."
