Chapter 340: Something Is Wrong With Her.
A knock came on the door, making her heart beat faster.
Angela took a step back when she realized the scent was stronger now, sweet and overwhelming, sending butterflies dancing wildly in her stomach.
It was Hiro standing behind that door.
Both of her friends looked at her, waiting for her final order before they allowed the Alpha in.
Angela braced herself for whatever was coming. This was her fate, and she had to face it. No matter what happened, she refused to be a fool again... not now, not when she was carrying a baby that needed protection.
The knock came again, faster this time. Her heart skipped as she looked up.
"Should I open it and tell him to go away?" Alex broke the silence, waiting for her answer.
It took her a moment before she said, "No, Alex. I will do it myself."
"Are you sure about this?" he asked, his eyes widening. There was a chance she might do something reckless, but he hadn’t expected this.
"You should think this through before facing him. I-I..." Stale didn’t finish as she walked past him and placed her hand on the doorknob. He had no choice but to nod. "As the queen deems fit."
Angela sighed as she opened the door, coming face to face with Hiro.
Her heartbeat quickened as she swallowed hard, staring into his face.
He hadn’t changed much in those few months. If anything, Hiro looked more mature. His eyes... they no longer held that playful, mischievous stare, and it made her wonder if it had something to do with that Harvest Moon night. They no longer looked at her like he was in love with her.
"Angela..." he called her name in a way that almost made her want to throw herself into his arms. "I have missed—"
"Alpha Hiro, do you need anything?" she interrupted, her voice formal, hoping he would understand the message behind it.
His eyes said more than his words ever could. Pain lingered in them, deep and heavy.
Hiro couldn’t believe it, but he didn’t back down. "We need to talk about that night. You can’t punish my brothers, especially Kaito, for what I did."
Angela rolled her eyes, leaning against the door. She had been willing to listen to whatever Hiro had to say until he mentioned Kaito and tried to claim he was innocent.
The same Kaito who had not been bothered about what happened that night. He never cared enough to check on her or even explain himself.
"I don’t want to hear it. We have no business together anymore, Alpha Hiro," Angela said firmly, watching him closely, wondering if he would actually listen.
"Are you really doing this? I understand what we did was terrible but... destroying our lives over this, baby, I don’t think it’s worth it."
She rolled her eyes, hoping to end this quickly before he discovered her condition. "Do not fucking blame this on me, Hiro. We all brought this on ourselves, and we all have to face the consequences."
"I want to apologize, my love," Hiro said, taking a step forward to hold her hand, but she stepped back immediately, making sure they did not touch.
The fear of him finding out she was pregnant stopped her from letting him close, even though she had missed him so much.
"I just resumed, and if you don’t mind, Alpha, I need to unpack," Angela said, turning to leave, but he stopped her again.
"Is this how you want things to be?" Hiro asked, his voice heavy with pain. She did not turn around because she knew one look at his face would make her weak instantly.
"Yes, Alpha. Things will remain like this, as if we never met. Tell your brothers the same."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Stale buried his face in his palms and sighed. Things were not getting better as he had hoped.
"We should talk about this again—" he began, but stopped when he noticed her hand rush to her mouth.
Angela felt a wave of nausea hit her instantly. Covering her mouth, she rushed into the room and straight into the bathroom.
Hiro followed immediately, his face filled with worry, but she slammed the door in his face and locked it.
The sound made his heart ache.
He placed both hands on the door and asked, "Are you alright?"
No response came.
Slowly, he turned to her friends. They had to know what was going on with her.
"I swear I don’t know," Stale quickly said without even being asked a question. He stepped back slightly, clearly scared of the Alpha.
"I didn’t ask," Hiro replied, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "Alex, what is going on?"
Alex’s lips parted, but no words came out. He knew Angela would kill him if he dared reveal the truth.
"Now I know something is going on with her, and you are all pretending to be clueless. Nice try," Hiro hissed, stepping forward.
"Nothing is wrong with her," Alex finally said, trying his best to sound normal.
"So why is she throwing up?"
"Probably she ate something she wasn’t supposed to," Alex answered, unsure if the excuse would convince the Alpha.
"You are not taking care of her?" Hiro’s gaze darkened.
"Do not blame us... she was living with Marcus," Stale defended quickly.
The door unlocked and opened. Angela stepped out, wiping her wet face with a towel.
"Or maybe I am irritated by you," she said flatly.
Hiro went silent. He hadn’t expected that response.
"Yes, Alpha," she added coldly.
"I doubt that is the case. I can feel something is wrong with you," Hiro said firmly.
"You should leave," she said, walking to the door and opening it.
Hiro took a deep breath and nodded slightly before moving toward the exit. "I won’t give up."
Just as he was about to turn away, his eyes landed on something on the bed.
His gaze froze.
Angela followed it instantly. Damn it. It was the pregnancy test strip. How on earth did it end up exposed?
"What is that?" he asked, stepping forward to pick it up.
But Angela was faster. Using her speed, she reached the bed and grabbed it, hiding it behind her back.
"Nothing," she said, but her heart was pounding so loudly she was sure he could hear it.
His expression shifted immediately—confusion turning into suspicion and anger.
Pointing at her, Hiro asked, "Are you pregnant?"
Her heart skipped.
No. No way. He was not supposed to know. And now that he did, everything was about to fall apart... because he would tell his brothers, and they would start fighting over whose baby it was.
And she was not ready for that chaos.
