Chapter 664: An Encounter with Duan Yunkai
"See, didn’t we save this for you?" one of Xu Minglei’s roommates pointed at the small portion left and said.
"Just this bit? You guys eat way too much." Xu Minglei was speechless; they were total food tanks.
"By the way, who is your sister? Can you take us to meet her sometime? The stuff she makes is so delicious." A young guy wrapped his arms around Xu Minglei’s shoulder and asked curiously.
"Yeah, yeah, we want to know too," the other guys immediately chimed in.
"I think you guys just want to eat the food from my sister’s house." Xu Minglei rolled his eyes, not wanting to deal with this group anymore.
"Hey, just know but don’t say it out loud."
On Tiedan’s end, his food also got divided up.
The next day, Xu Jiaojiao and the others got up early. Xu Jiaojiao and the others had classes in the morning, so they couldn’t stay here any longer.
The little one got up early too, knowing that his aunts and uncles were leaving, and he was very reluctant to part.
After seeing off his cousins, Yin Yang had legitimate business to attend to today; the local partners had been contacted.
"Be a good boy and listen to Mommy today. I’ll take you out for something delicious in the afternoon," Yin Yang patted his son’s head, grabbed his briefcase and personal assistant, and left the house by car.
With fewer people at home, the little one didn’t feel bored at all.
"Let’s go, today we’ll go out to play. I have two properties here, and we’ll check if they’ve been damaged," Xu Mumu added an extra layer of clothing for her son and set out with him.
The two awarded properties here were quite large and had been rented out for years. Although Yin Yang’s people were watching over them, she wanted to see them herself.
"Mom, do we have a lot of houses?" The little one tilted his head, having already stayed in several houses that all belonged to them.
"Yes, a lot. You’ll find out later," Xu Mumu said with a smile. These houses would appreciate in value over time. Even now, they’ve increased significantly, and they’ll only get more valuable in the future.
"Why do we have so many houses?" The little one didn’t understand; there were too many to live in.
"Because some were bought by your great-grandfather, and some were bought by your dad. Nowadays, buying a house is called investment. In the future, they’ll earn a lot of money," Xu Mumu explained to the little one.
Investment—this little fellow understood the term, as his dad often talked about company matters to him.
"When I have money, I’ll buy houses too," the little one said, full of bravado.
"We already have plenty of houses. Buying so many won’t do; you can use your money for other things. It’s not necessary to buy more houses," Xu Mumu chuckled. Housing prices couldn’t skyrocket forever, and not everywhere had good potential for appreciation.
"Mom, what makes the most money?" the little one asked curiously.
"There are many fields that make money. As long as you’re attentive, you’ll see opportunities everywhere. You can’t just believe what people say will make a fortune," Xu Mumu earnestly guided the little one.
The little one appeared half-understanding, but Xu Mumu didn’t explain any further. He’d understand as he grew up.
Arriving at one of her properties, the tenants had changed, but there was a familiar face: Liao Wenqing, the first tenant, who still lived here with his mother and wife and now had a baby taken care of by the elders.
"Miss Xu, you’ve come back to check on the house." Liao Wenqing recognized Xu Mumu, mainly because he had a deep impression of her. Back when he rented the house, he didn’t expect it to belong to such a young woman who was still in university.
"Yes, I haven’t come back to the Imperial City for years and wanted to see it. You’ve kept it very tidy," Xu Mumu said with a smile. This family was tidy and kept everything neat. Even without entering the house, she held a very good impression of them.
"You like to keep your own place clean; it’s more comfortable to live in. Little boss, is this your child? So cute," Liao Wenqing smiled warmly.
"Yes, Doudou, say hello to uncle, aunt, and grandma," Xu Mumu said with a nod.
The little guy obediently greeted them, looking around. Is this Mommy’s house? It’s not as big as the home and not as beautiful.
After chatting a bit more with Liao Wenqing, Xu Mumu took Doudou for a tour around the courtyard. The tenants here were specially selected by Yin Yang, so the houses were well-maintained and not damaged at all.
They moved on to the next property, which was also in good condition, putting Xu Mumu in an excellent mood.
Both properties were in prime locations, bound to appreciate over time. This was the land-scarce Imperial City, after all.
"Mom, is this the school you went to?" The little one’s eyes sparkled as he asked upon seeing Hua University in front of him.
"Yes, right now your third and fourth aunts are studying here too, but we can’t go in now. We’ll have to wait until the holidays before I can take you inside," Xu Mumu smiled and nodded. Looking at the familiar campus entrance, she felt a wave of nostalgia; it had been years since she last visited, and she truly missed her campus life.
While Xu Mumu held Doudou’s hand and looked around outside, someone called out to her just as they were about to leave.
"Mumu, Mumu, over here." Xu Mumu heard someone shouting and looked over to find it was Duan Yunkai.
"Brother Duan is still in the Imperial City?" Xu Mumu led the little one over.
"Yeah, for the past two years I’ve been doing advanced studies under my mentor. Is this your son? He’s grown so much. You’re Doudou, right? I held you when you were little," Duan Yunkai’s eyes lit up as he looked at the child.
"Doudou, say hello to Mr. Duan," Xu Mumu said with a smile. Duan Yunkai still had that cheerful and sunny demeanor.
"Hello, Mr. Duan. My name is Yin Si," the little guy introduced himself solemnly, like a little adult.
Seeing that this uncle seemed to be very close to his mother, the little one made a serious self-introduction.
"Wow, you look so much like your dad. Can I hold you?" Duan Yunkai raised an eyebrow slightly. This little adult’s demeanor reminded him of Yin Yang; he was clearly like a mini version of him.
"Of course, I look like my dad. But I’m heavy; after you pick me up, put me down quickly,"
"Your weight is nothing. I can easily lift you," Duan Yunkai said with a laugh as he picked Doudou up. He really was quite a handful, but this little fellow was much more adorable than other children he’d seen.
"Brother Duan, you like kids so much. Isn’t your family pressuring you to get married?" Xu Mumu asked out of curiosity.
"Oh, don’t even bring that up. Every time I go home, my grandfather keeps pestering me about getting married," Duan Yunkai sighed, mentioning it made him feel exhausted.
