Chapter 631: Worry-Free Son
After dinner, the cook also sent over some desserts, they were quite suitable for children, clearly prepared for Doudou.
The little guy ate obediently, and Xu Mumu took him to his room, letting him read a picture book by himself that she had previously taught him several characters from.
Xu Mumu took the dinner prepared by the cook to Mr. Cao’s room.
Mr. Cao was lying peacefully on the bed, and Yin Yang was sitting silently by the side, his eyes a bit red.
"Yin Yang, have something to eat." Xu Mumu took out the food.
"I’m not really hungry." Yin Yang shook his head.
"Even if you’re not hungry, you should eat a bit. Do you think your body is made of iron? Even Mr. Cao certainly wouldn’t want you to ruin your health." Xu Mumu said seriously. She and Doudou have always been healthy because of their superpowers, and she hopes to be with Yin Yang for a long time, not wanting him to have any health issues while he’s still young.
"You..." Yin Yang looked helplessly at his little wife.
"Eat at least a little, I’ll watch you eat." Xu Mumu insisted.
In the end, Yin Yang obediently listened to Xu Mumu, eating a bit despite not having much appetite. Seeing this, Xu Mumu didn’t force him further.
"Go back and rest with Doudou. I want to stay with Mr. Cao for a while longer." Yin Yang said gently, looking at his little wife.
"Okay." Xu Mumu nodded.
Back in the room, Doudou was reading a picture book, with a serious expression. Xu Mumu picked him up and kissed his little cheeks twice; her son was really so good.
"Mom, where’s dad?" The little guy was a bit disappointed not to see his dad. Usually, at this time, his dad would already be there playing with him and teaching him how to read.
"Dad has some work to do. Today, mom will teach Doudou to read." Xu Mumu said with a smile.
Xu Mumu took out the ancient poems she had prepared beforehand. Naturally, she started with short and catchy ones.
The tender voice of the little guy came from the room, and the people standing watch outside smiled with relief.
Xu Mumu didn’t teach him too much. After reading a poem, when the little guy almost remembered it, Xu Mumu would carefully explain the stories behind it, just like telling a little story, which the little guy loved to hear.
The best storytellers in the house were the two old professors. Both well-traveled and knowledgeable, they had studied abroad and were well-versed, not only in their fields but also had some understanding of others.
When the little guy was with the professors, they often shared their experiences with him. Although sometimes he couldn’t understand, it didn’t stop him from enjoying listening.
Whenever the little guy looked at Professor Song and the others with bright eyes, they eagerly shared their knowledge. Unfortunately, Doudou was too young for most of it and could only hear stories.
Once he had learned enough, Xu Mumu took the little guy to wash up and go to bed.
Once the little guy was asleep, Xu Mumu looked out the window. The moon was bright, the cool moonlight shining through the window. Yin Yang hadn’t returned yet, and it was unclear when he would come back.
Xu Mumu waited for a long time, even going to check, and seeing that he had no intention of coming back, she went to sleep with Doudou.
In the morning, no one was by her side, only Doudou nestled quietly in her arms.
As Xu Mumu got up to wash, the little guy woke up too, not needing her to coax him awake.
Now that the weather was hot, the little guy wore thin clothes, which Xu Mumu had already placed beside the bed for him. He put them on by himself.
Getting dressed wasn’t hard, especially summer clothes, which posed no challenge for him.
Seeing the little guy dress himself, Xu Mumu took him to wash up. At three years old, Xu Mumu intended to foster his independence, not wanting to spoil him too much.
The little guy could dress himself, wash his face, and brush his teeth. That independent little look, made Professor Song and Professor Jian criticize Xu Mumu, saying Doudou was still so young and needed adult care, yet this mother was too unreliable.
Used to their complaints, Xu Mumu didn’t mind anymore.
Xu Mumu led Doudou out of the room. Yin Yang was already handling Mr. Cao’s aftermath chores, no longer keeping vigil. But this time, there were dark circles under Yin Yang’s eyes, showing he hadn’t slept well, presumably not at all last night.
"Let’s eat first." Yin Yang approached with Doudou, seeing him busy again.
"Okay." Yin Yang nodded.
"Dad, don’t be sad." The little guy ran over, climbed onto Yin Yang’s lap, and looked up at him.
"Okay, was Doudou well-behaved last night?" Yin Yang put down his work and picked up his son, bringing him to Xu Mumu’s side.
"Of course I was. I studied ’Ode to Goose’ last night." The little guy said proudly. As he grew, his expression became clearer.
"Doudou is amazing." Yin Yang smiled warmly, encouraging the little guy. He and Xu Mumu had already discussed his learning plan, so they both knew what he needed to learn each day.
The little guy was still young, starting with the simplest things being enough. As he gets older, they’d gradually add more learning content.
Seeing his son learn quickly without resisting the lessons, Yin Yang felt happy.
Despite the little guy being mischievous while playing, he never disappointed in learning, and with his intelligence, he’d likely complete his study plan early and might need to start learning other things sooner.
The family of three went to the living room where breakfast was ready. The little guy loved the various snacks the cook made here.
After breakfast, seeing Yin Yang ready to work again, Xu Mumu couldn’t bear it and directly stopped him: "You should rest first. I can handle those tasks; I can manage them while you rest." Xu Mumu said with concern, she had never seen Yin Yang so exhausted.
"I’m not tired." Yin Yang pressed his lips together.
"Doudou, go and make sure dad sleeps, okay?" Xu Mumu employed a strategic tactic, placing her son’s small hand in Yin Yang’s.
"Dad, go to sleep." The little guy nodded obediently. Mom said dad didn’t sleep last night and was very tired.
Yin Yang looked helplessly at his determined little wife and the same expression on his son’s face. The little guy exerted quite a bit of strength, trying to drag him to the bedroom.
"Alright, I’ll go." Under the gaze of his little wife, Yin Yang relented.
