Chapter 629: Suppressing
"Okay, I’ve noted it." Xu Mumu said helplessly.
After coaxing the little one to sleep, Xu Mumu wasn’t sleepy at all, so she grabbed a book and started reading.
While Xu Mumu was enjoying her time leisurely, the events of last night didn’t take long for Yin Yang’s people to trace back to the Ma Family.
This time, Yin Yang wasn’t planning to let it go so easily. Naturally, he intended to repay them in kind.
He had already sent the little snake to Yun Luo, believing she would like it very much.
The distance to the Ma Family wasn’t far, so by evening, the little snake was delivered to Yun Luo’s boudoir.
Yun Luo was leisurely reading in the room, frustrated that her plans for the day hadn’t succeeded again.
She didn’t notice the little creature in the room, a frenzied snake, while she was still contemplating her next move against Yin Yang and his group.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain on her ankle, and on looking down, realized it was a little snake, one that seemed very familiar.
"Ahhh!!" Her scream echoed, but soon the room went silent; the snake’s venom was potent, and Yun Luo fainted within seconds.
Luckily, Mrs. Zhang, who was always by Yun Luo’s side, rushed to her room as soon as she heard her scream.
Seeing Yun Luo’s face turning a purplish-black, she was startled and quickly had her sent to the hospital.
After a hectic night, Yun Luo was finally resuscitated by the next day.
Even after being saved, the poison was extremely aggressive, continuously damaging her body, causing Yun Luo’s health to deteriorate significantly overnight, with various bodily functions suffering diverse levels of injury.
Yun Luo weakly woke up from the bed, and the only person guarding her was Mrs. Zhang, as no one else was around. At the Ma Family, her husband only glanced at her at first and then left.
Having married Yun Luo for so many years, the freshness had long faded, and since he was quite obedient to his mother, his enthusiasm for Yun Luo had significantly diminished, especially knowing Yun Luo’s heart always belonged to Yin Yang.
Yun Luo weakly surveyed her surroundings, "Where is everyone else?"
"Old Madam is also not feeling well, and the young master went to take care of her." Mrs. Zhang pressed her lips in displeasure, feeling that the young master had become increasingly disappointing over the years.
"Heh, where’s the snake?" Yun Luo sneered and inquired about the snake, almost thinking she was going to die, but grateful to be alive, she certainly wouldn’t forget this.
"Xing took it away." Mrs. Zhang lowered her head; she knew the origin of the snake since they had placed it with Yin Yang, unaware that it had been sent back with some stimulants.
This indicated that Yin Yang was already aware of what they had done, prompting Mrs. Zhang to remind Yun Luo.
"Miss, Yin Yang must already know, otherwise the snake wouldn’t have been returned." Mrs. Zhang stated seriously.
"So be it if he knows. Have we figured out who planted it?" Yun Luo said calmly. She cared less about whether Yin Yang knew and more about the betrayal within her own ranks.
"No, it’s all very hidden; we haven’t found any clues on our end." Mrs. Zhang’s expression turned grim at the mention of this.
The inability to uncover anything suggested someone within their circle was compromised.
They had always known Yin Yang was formidable but hadn’t imagined he had become this powerful.
To think he could place someone silently among them made both of them uneasy.
"No need to investigate further." Yun Luo weakly said, her gaze cold and filled with resentment.
"Miss." Mrs. Zhang looked at Yun Luo in surprise but then gave up, "Forget it, Miss should focus on recuperating; nothing is more important than good health."
Yun Luo said no more, closing her eyes to rest.
This time, Yin Yang showed no mercy in suppressing the Ma and Yun Families, leaving them in disarray, too busy to pay attention to Yun Luo in the hospital.
Spending so long alone in the hospital, Yun Luo grew colder, especially when even her once-caring brother no longer cared for her, leaving her deeply hurt.
However, Yun Luo wasn’t the only one resenting the Yun and Ma families; the families harbored even more hatred for her. The troubles Yun Luo stirred led Yin Yang to relay everything back to them as is.
Their suppression at the hands of Yin Yang was due only to Yun Luo’s foolishness, causing them to suffer unnecessary calamities.
The angriest was naturally Yun Luo’s mother-in-law, who fell ill from the frustration despite initially being well. Despite being sick, she made her way to Yun Luo’s hospital room to scold her harshly, spewing the vilest words at her, with no semblance of a noblewoman.
Yun Luo coldly watched Old Madam Ma rant; if not for her weakened state, she would have lunged forward to slap those nasty words off her face, harboring unvented grudges built up over the years of being in the Ma Family.
Seeing Yun Luo daring enough to glare at her with hatred, Old Madam Ma was incensed and slapped Yun Luo, glaring at her with disdain: "You’re a calamity. If you want to ruin yourself, do it alone; don’t drag our Ma Family down with you. Marrying you was the worst luck in our family’s history."
"Heh, and what is your Ma Family?" Yun Luo lightly touched her cheek; the pain only darkened her mood further. She’d never been hit like that before, who thought she had a good temper?
"And what is your Yun Family, other than being crushed by Yin Yang, making Yun Ji’s heir position unstable?" Old Madam Ma wasn’t easily provoked, stabbing Yun Luo where it hurt most.
Yun Ji’s precarious stance as heir ensured Yun Luo’s comfortable status in the Ma Family; should Yun Ji lose power, Yun Luo would be left with nothing, held at Ma Family’s mercy.
Yun Luo’s face turned ugly; she couldn’t rebut the truth in Old Madam Ma’s words.
Xu Mumu, alongside Doudou, spent several wild days in the city with Qian Xia and her daughter, even the initially introverted Yu Xiaohui joined in play with Doudou.
The happenings with Yun Luo were monitored by someone on Yin Yang’s behalf because his little wife enjoyed the drama, and he reported every event back to her.
Listening to Yin Yang’s recounting of events, Xu Mumu found it particularly satisfying, as Yun Luo seemed unlikely to make any further waves and would likely be caught up in internal conflicts from now on.
