Chapter 53: Meeting part 2
As they heard the voice, they froze, slowly turning their heads. Their eyes landed on eight purple eyes glowing in the dark. The eyes were stacked from biggest to smallest in symmetry on both sides.
When they saw the eyes, cold sweat broke out, rolling down their backs.
"Uhm, my lady, what are you doing here?" William asked, barely able to keep his voice calm enough to speak properly. If he could run now, he for sure would. He was not the only tense one. Aris was on her feet, grabbing the edge of the table, while Tempest was trying his best to look calm.
The eyes got closer, and soon her head left the darkness, revealing a human female head, but with eight purple eyes on her face and white hair that flowed down and framed her face perfectly. Her entire upper body was exposed, and from her lower belly, her body began to expand into a massive white spider body with purple patterns on it.
She stood at an easy ten feet tall, towering over all of them, her metal-like spider legs dug into the ground. It was evident that the depiction on the table was of her in some way.
When she came into full light, they all went on one knee and bent their heads to show their respect.
"Raise your heads, I do not have all the time in the world before I have to head back and tend to my children," she said in a calm voice, almost soothing, yet it made your heart race extremely fast.
They looked up at her, eyes holding reverence and fear.
"This new forest lord, it’s a dragon, an infant dragon, it seems." She said and waited for their reaction.
The moment they heard it was a dragon, their faces changed, shock written all over them. They had only gathered the information in a general sense and had never dug into the race of the being that had killed Calamity, but never in a million years would they have thought that it would be a dragon.
"A dragon? What would a dragon have to do here?" Tempest asked.
"I do not know," she replied, "but this forest belongs to me, and whatever happens must be under my supervision.
I leave to lay eggs for some time and return to a dragon taking the status of forest lord. Dragons are beings of pride, and that’s a fact.
I cannot allow this dragon to have his free will to do what he wants here. So your mission going forward is simple. Infiltrate, trick, slither your way into his ranks, show him that you can all be partners.
Do not come off as overly trying. Make him believe that you are your own people and do your own things, rulers of your own territories.
I want to learn the secrets of this dragon and know why he is here, and if he poses a risk to my plan, I’ll kill him no matter what. That’s all."
After she said that, she walked back into the shadows and vanished.
After she was gone and they could no longer feel her presence, they all got off the floor.
"Tch, it’s all about her plan, a plan that she could not even share with us," Tempest spoke in anger.
"Speak for yourself, I do not want to know what her plan is. Whatever she is doing, I can tell it is sinister and diabolical, even for me, who loves to push the boundaries," William stated.
"I have a bad feeling it has to do with her kids. She has been giving birth in rapid succession for the past three years now," Aris pointed out.
[.....]
"Alright, let’s get this started," Ren declared as he sat inside the largest house that they had built, with his back leaned against the wall and a huge piece of meat, roasted and covered in honey.
Where had he found honey? Well, he had used his dragon eyes to scour the entire forest, and then he found some.
Standing in front of him were Ragna, Remu, Silas, the former chief of the lizards, the elder, and the two young lizardmen that had come with the elder the last time.
They all watched him eat without any regard, savoring each bite like it was the last one that he would have for a while.
"Mhmmmmmm," he let out a groan, the type you had when the food really hit. After he was done, he looked up.
"I’ll be giving names today. Everyone in this room is deserving of a name because they helped ensure the survival of our home.
Honestly, all of you did, everyone did, but I can’t name everyone yet. You guys are going to have to help me do some of this. I can’t handle it alone," he said and then took another bite. Then he raised his head and looked at the young lizardman.
"Come forward," he said.
The lizardman did his best to ensure he did not show overexcitement. He came forward and knelt down with his head bowed.
"You are a jumpy fellow. I want you to lead the young lizardmen in building and in training, under the guidance of Remu. Your name henceforth will be...
’Shit, I didn’t think about a name until now. Urghhhhh, what do I do? What do I call him? Tch, fine.’
"Riker, your name will be Riker."
[You have named your subordinate Riker]
After Riker got on his feet and stepped back, the female lizard stepped forward and bowed on one knee.
"You showed a crazy amount of leadership during the fight. You were pretty good, so you know what? You’ll become my personal assistant. That means you answer directly to me and help me out.
I could do with the help if I’m going to become a forest lord. As for your name, I’ll call you Ezra."
"Thank you, Master," she bowed her head and got up.
"Okay, that’s all for the young important ones," Ren said and bit into his meat again, then pointed at the elder with his meat.
"You will be Zork," he said, and then turned to the former chief. "You will be Gallan. That’s all."
