Chapter 21: Ch 21: The Unwanted Hero
"Growl!"
A black panther attacked him all of a sudden.
Raidan was caught off guard. Still, he instinctively raised his hands to defend himself.
Chomp!
The black panther bit down on his left arm, but it felt like it was biting a chunk of strong rubber rather than fragile human flesh.
Raidan exhaled a breath of relief.
"So the powers really came back with me... Then this makes things a lot easier."
He smiled, then threw a punch with his right hand.
Bam!
The panther’s head was crushed like a clay pot, red blood pouring out.

Seeing the notification, Raidan muttered, "How come they also give experience points when I am not in Olympus? System, do you know something?"
"....."
The System didn’t respond, leaving him clueless and confused.
More importantly, where did this black panther come from? This shouldn’t be normal at all.
Could it be his guess was correct? Was Earth really going through an Apocalypse?
Nonetheless, he wouldn’t find any answers by staying idle in one place.
He tried summoning his Mythril sword from the inventory, and it appeared.
The crimson blade gleamed in his hands.
Buzz!
All of a sudden, the sound of helicopters buzzed overhead.
He looked up and saw several of them heading somewhere while operating under emergency protocols.
"Phew, I am not alone after all. But where are they going?"
Only then did he notice that in the direction they were flying, there was a massive fire burnout, creating thick clouds of smoke in the sky.
Seeing this scene, Raidan’s heart pounded in his chest.
"Just what could create such a fire of this magnitude?"
Gripping the hilt of the Mythril Sword tightly,
Whoosh!
He shot forward like a bullet, blurring past abandoned cars and brokem malls.
His 40 Agility stat from Olympus was aiding perfectly. He leaped over a five-meter-wide crater effortlessly, landing as a gentle feather.
As he drew closer to the center of the city, the buzz of helicopter blades grew louder, joined by a sound of rapid gunfire.
After rounding a massive corner onto a main avenue, Raidan stopped dead in his tracks.
The scene ahead was pure chaos.
The military helicopters, armed with rapid firearms, had created a very tight blockade.
And in the middle of them, there was a massive tear in the sky.
Out of the rift, creatures were pouring into the streets.
They looked like oversized, bipedal wolves with skin as black as charcoal and eyes that glowed with a eerie green light.
"Fire! Keep them back from the evacuation bus!" a commander screamed over a megaphone.
Bang, bang, bang, bang...
The soldiers unleashed a hail of bullets, but the rounds sparked harmlessly off the monsters’ dense hide, barely slowing them down.
"Awoooooh!"
The wolves roared, and tore through the metal barricades like paper.
They were fast, aggressive, and entirely immune to standard human weaponry.
[ Appraisal ]
Name: Black Direwolves
Level: 12
Type: Demonic Beast (Rank E)
Status: Frenzied
Raidan got a small shock.
"Level 12...? They are equal to boss level monsters in that dungeon. It is no wonder normal weapons isn’t working against thm."
"Commander, these damn things are tough! We need armor-piercing bullets!" an officer shouted from one of the helicopters. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"Alright, call for immediate backup! Civilians’ lives are at risk!"
"Ah, Commander, one of them is coming for us... Help!"

With one massive swipe from a ferocious direwolf, an armed helicopter exploded, taking the soldiers’ lives with it.
"Motherfuckers! Retreat! I said RETREAT!" the commander yelled.
The helicopters backed away instantly, but the direwolves were still giving chase.
"Grrrrr!"
However, right then, something moved from below. Whoosh!
"Who’s that? Damn he’s so fast!" the commander said in disbelief.
The other officers looked down, and the chasing wolves also turned toward the figure.
The figure’s speed defied common sense. He was running faster than a horse, each step creating a loud, galloping sound on the asphalt road.
It was none other than Raidan.
He cut through the ranks of the level 10–12 wolves as if they were butter.
His crimson Mythril Sword, boosted by his speed and velocity, allowed him to strike their bodies with ungodly force.
Slash!
Slash!
Slash!
With each swing, one direwolf fell. And with each direwolf’s fall, he gained massive chunks of experience points.

...
Raidan wasn’t doing this to become a hero. He was doing it for the experience points and the quest he had created for himself.
[ Quest Title: The Unwanted Hero ]
[ Objective: Eliminate the pack of Direwolves and ensure the safe retreat of the military helicopters. ]
[ Time Limit: 20 Minutes ]
[ Difficulty: Easy ]
[ Punishment: Deduction of 2,000 Exp. ]
[ Rewards: 3,000 Exp, +5 ATK, +5 AGI, +10 Mana ]
The quest wasn’t that easy, though. His arms and legs felt sore and painful after taking down ten of them.
The sword was heavy, which was why he was having so much difficulty.
And there were still twenty or so direwolves left.
Despite that, he had unknowingly earned the respect and admiration of the Air Force officers.
While Raidan was panting and resting behind a school van, the commander’s helicopter carefully touched down nearby.
"Hey, young man, you’re doing an awesome job. Just hold on a little longer; our backup will be here any minute."
Raidan looked up and saw the man’s battle-hardened face.
"Thank you, officer. Taking them solo is very tough!" he said after wiping off his sweat.
"Yeah, I understand, young man. But you really shocked us with your strength. Just who are you, and what is that glowing sword?" the commander asked, trying to pry for some information.
Raidan had his stolen face equipped, but he still chose his words carefully to avoid getting entangled in military matters.
Who knew if they would want to perform scientific experiments on him later on?
Without answering, Raidan stood up and glanced at the confused pack of direwolves.
"Well, let me complete this quest and level up," he murmured.
The commander couldn’t understand him at all.
He could only watch as the strange young man started his slaughter again.
