Chapter 20: Ch 20: LOG OUT
Raidan decided to leave. He would come back later to wait for her return and collect his Returns.
But before that, he decided to taste the delicious cuisines he had seen along the way.
He went to a tavern called Solaire’s Inn.
Inside, the atmosphere was lively.
All the tables were filled with hunters and dungeon divers. There were no players, making the evening even more enjoyable.
Just as he settled into a corner, a young boy came up to him, offering a very polite smile.
"What would you like to have, sir?"
Raidan searched for a menu but found none.
So he had to ask the young boy,
"What do you have for dinner, wine aside?"
The young boy was clearly accustomed to the question. He quickly rattled off the day’s specials:
"We have a fine selection tonight, sir! Our most popular dishes are: Roasted Ironboar that is served with a side of spiced root vegetables and rich brown gravy.
River-Eel Stew, it is a kind of broth filled with tender eel, wild herbs, and barley. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Grilled Forest Fowl; Marinated in garlic and honey, served with roasted mushrooms.
And lastly Fresh Wheat Bread. It was baked just an hour ago, extremely fresh and tantalising."
Hearing the names, Raidan’s stomach let out a small growl.
After working hard for whole day, he needed something fulfilling to restore his energy.
Raidan placed 5 silver coins on the table, saying:
"I’ll take the roasted Ironboar, along with a portion of the fresh wheat bread. And keep the change."
The boy’s eyes was naturally happy. After all, 5 silver coins were far more than the meal cost.
"Right away, sir! I will tell my father to make you the finest meal!"
After snatching up the coin, he went toward the kitchen.
While waiting for his meal, Raidan comfortably rested his back against the chair, watching the variety of people around him. free𝑤ebnovel.com
There were groups of burly hunters and dungeon divers, who were eating and laughing together.
Then there was the smell of roasted meat, bear, and smoke.
Since he had altered his face and was wearing local tunics, nobody paid him any mind.
He was just another regulat face in the crowd. Ande was happy like this. It let him listen to the conversations around him without any bother.
"Hey did you hear about the Eastern Woods? Those damned goblin camps are multiplying faster than usual. I think the Adventurer’s Guild might issue a subjugation quest soon."
"Comrades, that’s not the weirdest part. I saw a bunch of strange foreigners today. They dress weird, talk weird, and keep asking the most basic idiotic questions. One of them actually tried to punch a horned rabbit barehanded!"
"Hahaha, I wonder where did those fools came from?"
Raidan couldn’t help but smile a little.
They were obviously talking about the Players.
They were beginning to flood the City. Probably thinking with their arrogant minds that tis was just a simple game.
It wouldn’t take long for the harsh reality of this world to crush that naivety out of them.
"Here is your food, sir!"
Said the young boy reappearing beside him.
"Thanks."
Raidan gave a small thanks, and the little boy placed a steaming wooden platter in front of him.
As he did, a delicious aroma filled Raidan’s nose.
The roasted Ironboar was cooked to absolute perfection, the skin crispy and sizzling, while the meat underneath looked incredibly tender.
The aroma alone was enough to make his mouth salivate.
Raidan picked up his fork and knife, cutting off a generous slice.
Yump!
The moment he took a bite, the rich flavor exploded on his tastebuds. It was many times better than the food he had eaten in the shrine.
As he ate in silence, his mind began to calculate his next move.
Fiona’s quest had a 24-hour time limit. If she succeeded, she would expect her 1 Gold Coin as her reward.
And he had more than enough to pay her.
"If she pulls off the heist, the returns on 800 Experience are going to be astronomical. Even a 10x multiplier would give me 8,000 Exp and 60 stats points."
And if she failed? Or if she was caught by Zodna’s guards?
It wouldn’t matter to him in the slightest. The system stated there were no punishments for him if a player failed.
He was simply the Quest Originator, a puppet master pulling the strings from the shadows.
He took another bite of the delicious Ironboar, perfectly content with his current position.
But something still felt odd.
How did he know there was a merchant named Zodna in Vanir City?
While creating the quest, the name came to his mouth almost naturally.
It felt strange, and he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
Suddenly—
"Ding!"

After that rapid series of notifications, Raidan understood they were going back.
This made him both nervous and excited.
What would the new Earth look like?
Nonetheless, he immediately readied himself as best as he could.
He hoped he could at least bring the Mythril Sword with him so that he could protect himself from anything that threatened his life.

Flash!
He had the same dizzying feeling as when he first crossed over to this world. His vision was absolutely dark. He could see absolutely nothing at all.
The first thing Raidan saw after getting his footing in the physical world was a road littered with a massive crater in front of him.
As he looked around, he saw countless craters like it.
"I’m back?"
There was no doubt about it. He was standing in the exact position where he had picked up the Golden Crystal when the apocalypse began.
What was even scarier was that there were no people around him.
All around him was just a deserted cityscape. The hotels, the malls, and the café where he and his uncle had sat were completely empty.
His uncle was nowhere to be seen.
All of a sudden—
"Grrrrrrr!"
