Chapter 767: Chapter 767: So Indifferent

Everyone was looking for Stuart. No one expected that Edie was the first one to give up. She even proposed to build a cenotaph for Stuart.

When hearing this suggestion from Edie, everyone was so astonished. But Edie looked so calm and peaceful.

She didn’t want to return back to England. She still wanted to live in A with Laty. She asked Avan whether he wanted to live with them. Avan said that he wanted to live with them. Edie was also willing to take care of this little boy. After all, she wished Laty could grow up happily. She didn’t want Laty to be lonely.

Bette and Brittany wanted to visit her. But Edie refused. She wanted to live alone for several days. She asked them not to worry about her.

Indeed, Edie took good care of her.

She went out to take a photograph every day. When she had free time, she would stay at home, studying more dishes for her kids. She often invited Sophie to come for dinner. Life was so peaceful as if Stuart never found her. She was still living a peaceful, relaxing life with her daughter.

Everyone in A now knew Edie was Stuart’s wife. She was a widow now. No matter where she went, she would attract special attention from others.

But Edie had gotten used to it.

She planned to move to another city for Laty’s good. But Avan took really good care of Laty. Therefore, Edie gave up the thought.

Stuart disappeared from her world in this city. Therefore, she decided to wait for him here.

She didn’t care whether he would come to her again. It was her own business. She didn’t care what others would comment on her.

She sat on the bed, trying to calm herself down. Today was Saturday. She didn’t have to get up early to send two kids to school. Therefore, she could get up later.

She walked to the bathroom. She saw her pale face. Cold sweat oozed out from her small face. Apparently, she was so shocked.

After washing her face, she got up to prepare breakfast. To her surprise, Avan has already prepared breakfast for them. He held the slice and wore an apron on her waist. Looked quite funny. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Avan made porridge and bought milk and a sandwich. So simple breakfast, though, Edie felt so warm.

She felt Avan was like her own son.

"Aunt Edie, the breakfast is ready. I need to wake Laty up."

Avan has been staying here for a long time. Francies never came here to pick him up. Therefore, he lived in the room that was changed from the study room in Edie’s house these days.

Edie still thought Avan was such a poor boy. She wanted to curse on Francies.

Edie didn’t know why Francies didn’t show up. It was because he could not.

To stay with Laty to comfort her, Avan didn’t care about his uncle at all. Therefore, he made his uncle stay where he was.

After having breakfast, Edie took two kids to Sophie’s house and went to work.

When she walked to the photographing studio, she heard a scattered sound.

"Miss Lee, welcome. Sit down, please. We would make up for you. The photographer would arrive soon."

"Who is it? Dares to be late. I’ve already arrived, why hasn’t she arrived? What the hell is she doing?"

Hearing these words, Helen answered in a careful tone, "Edie Lara."

"Wow. You mean that widow, right? Why does your chief editor still use her? Has she lowered the price? Does your chief editor plan to use her as a long-term backup?"

Lexi sneered at her. Recalling what Edie’s done to her, Lexi couldn’t help herself raising her voice.

Edie was quite popular. She was quite cordial. Even now she has lost her husband, and she was still elegant and noble. No one dared to diss her.

Edie also explained the reason why she decided to work. She wanted to take care of her kids in A, so she decided to settle down in A. she needed a stable job. After all, she lost her husband recently. She needed to recover from the sorrow. A job would be the best medicine for her during this period.

Edie worked quite hard. Everyone knew Edie was trying to paralyze herself with work. So no one said a word about her husband. No one wanted to hurt her feeling.

Edie didn’t expect that Lexi dared to say these words.

At the moment, the door was opened. Edie stepped into the room.

Seeing Edie, Lexi got nervous immediately. But Edie looked so peaceful. She walked to her seat and sat down calmly as if she didn’t hear a word Lexi said just now.

Lexi got braver. She continued, "Miss Lara, is your salary higher than mine?"

"Yes. Any problem?"

Edie took a glimpse at Lexi and answered in an indifferent voice.

This answer made Lexi flush.

Edie looked so peaceful while saying these words. Her eyes looked pure, like a spring of clean water,

As if she cared about nothing. So cold. So indifferent.

Lexi felt Edie was like a bottle of mineral water.

Transparent. Without any smell or waves.

Edie’s voice and words made Lexi uncomfortable for no reason.

Lexi hated Edie.

She burst into laughter and said, "Wow. So impressive. I bet the chief editor offers you such a high price due to the Yates. What if you leave the Yates?"

Hearing these words, Edie didn’t answer a word. She kept adjusting her camera in silence.

Seeing this, Helen could not stand anymore, "Miss Lee, the photographing, would start soon. Get ready ."

"Okay. Ask that widow to try her best. I don’t want to waste my time here."

Helen walked to Edie and apologized to her, "Actually, you don’t have to come today. I can ask someone else. You know her...."

Actually, Helen already told Edie in advance the model was Lexi Lee today. So Helen wanted Edie to stay at home to take a rest. But Edie didn’t want to take rest. It was a nightmare for Edie now. If she didn’t get busy, she would be drowned by extreme pain.

She didn’t care being cursed by Lexi. That would make her life a little bit interesting.

Edie shook her head slightly and smiled, "Never mind. I am fine. I want to work. You don’t have to feel sorry. I am just doing my job."

"Then, don’t keep her words in mind. You know. She..."

"Don’t worry. I don’t care about those words," Edie pressed her lips and smiled;

Hearing these words, Helen took a relief. She looked towards Edie. The smile on Edie’s face was so warm and polite. But she didn’t know why she felt Edie was so lonely. She felt Edie must try so hard to smile.

This might be called forcing a smile.

As expected, Lexi kept shouting out because of Edie’s indifferent attitude. Lexi kept making things difficult for Edie. The work could be done in two hours. But because of Lexi, Edie spent a whole day finishing the work.

Helen wanted to interrupt the photographing, but Edie stopped her.

Finally, Edie finished all work at seven o’clock in the evening.

Except for Helen, everyone else left.

After Edie packed all her stuff, Helen finally said, "Edie, you don’t have to listen to Lexi. You should learn to be tough in front of her. She would not dare to say a word. Why do you do this to yourself?"
