Chapter 433: Chapter 433: It’s A Bad Omen
"Ever since I was little, I had been raised as an inheritor of my family. My mom chose to raise me harshly. She sent me over to Europe to study and experience life. When my father passed away, she didn’t allow me to come home, and it was not until she had completed all the funeral procedures that I could go home. The first day after I came back, I overheard my mom’s conversation with another man in my father’s bedroom... it was not until then that I had finally discovered the truth, that woman betrayed my father. It wasn’t even long after my father died, and she took that man home!"
Stuart’s voice sounded so fragile, the process of saying every word was painfully delivered. He squeezed out between his teeth. His childhood experiences were a tone of suffering.
The incident happened 15 years ago, Stuart was only a child by then. And he had to suffer both his father’s sudden death and his mother’s betrayal...
How did he cope with everything those years?
No wonder he hated women, so it was because of his mother...
Bayer was right, that man... Is Tammie Lynch Donald Lynch’s father?
"Stuart...time has passed, let it go. Isn’t the deputy director single and alone now?"
"That’s because that man is dead!" Stuart’s voice suddenly rose in volume and scared Edie.
For instance, Edie didn’t know what to say. After a while, she said in a soft voice while holding Stuart’s body, "I know you’re upset, but I can’t do anything to reduce your pain, all I can do is to stay beside you. Stuart, as long as you need me, I’ll never leave you."
Hearing Edie’s words, Stuart’s mind suddenly became clearer; the anger inside him disappeared at once too.
Edie...
She always had a kind of power that could easily wipe away any pain on his heart.
"Edie, what should I do with you?" Stuart softened his tone, and he could not bear to vent even a little anger on her.
Edie could easily tell the change in his mood, she smiled, "If you don’t know what to do with me, then just listen to me, I’m your wife!"
"I thought I would never get married until I met you." Stuart hugged her tightly.
"If you truly want to thank me, then go downstairs with me and eat that cake, I’ve prepared it for a long time! You haven’t even made a wish yet, do you want everything I’ve done went wasted?" Edie acted as if she was angry.
Stuart nodded with defeat face, how could he reject her?
Then, the two of them went downstairs again, but the cake had already disappeared. They could only see the little guy with a bloated tummy, patting his belly with content. Then he burped and said, "Having starved for so many days, I finally have a full stomach today!" freewёbnoνel.com
"My...my cake?" Edie looked to the messy table, and she could still see the vague shape of her buttercream doll.
Stuart squinted his eyes, strode forward, and lifted the butterball by his collar, and he said with repressed anger, "Do you want to die?"
"Ah! I’m only afraid that you’re wasting it! How do I know you’re still going to eat it? I’m sorry, Stuart, it’s my fault, let go of me. I’ll buy you a large cake next time!" The little lad said in a flurry.
Edie was out of sorts looking at the table of cream, and she had a bad feeling about this. A well prepared birthday party disappeared, the candles were not blown, wishes were not made, there was no blessing from friends...
Maybe... It is a bad omen.
"It’s only a cake, don’t haggle over it." Edie felt a little down. When Madame Yates came, they had just put on the candles, and she forgot to ask Stuart to blow it.
The cake was handmade by her, and she even made a buttercream doll. The doll had a suit on and looked very much like Stuart. She also added a lot of chocolate chips on the cake, and there was a blessing on every chocolate cake. Stuart would never be able to see them now. She had to admit that she was upset, but there was nothing she could do about it.
"Go upstairs! Or I’ll kick your butt out." Stuart threatened the little lad.
After hearing his word, Cecil said while trying to escape, "I know, let go of me first, I’ll run as fast as I can!"
As soon as his feet landed on the ground, Cecil ran upstairs like a thunderbolt.
Just when Edie was about to leave, Stuart grabbed her hand and made her sit down. Edie was a little confused as she watched Stuart entering the kitchen.
Shortly after, Stuart came out of the kitchen with two bowls of noodles.
"Birthday noodle?" Edie was astounded.
"Yes." When seeing her face lit up, Stuart’s heart felt lighter.
Edie’s worry was finally comforted by the noodles. Right before Stuart was about to start eating, Edie stopped him, "You haven’t made a wish yet!"
"My wish has already come true, and I don’t need to make another one." He smiled; there was unveiling affection in his eyes, "Staying with you forever is enough for me."
Edie blushed, she couldn’t tell if he was telling the truth.
"Right, where’s my present?"
"This birthday party is the present I prepared you, is this not enough for you?" She said sulkily, then suddenly remembered something. She asked in doubt, "You said you wanted to tell me something in the morning, what is it?"
As soon as she finished her sentence, Sturt’s facial expression became complicated and ambiguous. After a while, he finally said, "Hicks Day is here."
"What?" Hearing this name, Edie stopped eating her noodle and looked up in astonishment, discovering that Stuart was staring at her too.
Isn’t Hicks Day in city A? Why is she suddenly here in Britain? Is she here for endorsement events?
She didn’t suspect him, but still asked puzzledly, "Is this what you were going to tell me? That she’s here? So?"
"She was kidnapped and used to threaten me, I rescued her, and since then, she has been in the hospital, come with me to visit her tomorrow."
Hospital?
She froze for a second, then suddenly recalled that Stuart had been busy for the past few days, and had been telling her that one of his friends was in the hospital, so it was... Hicks Day?
So... the reason he had been out all night, forgotten to go see the wedding dress with her, was that woman?
She tried her best to convince herself that Stuart didn’t do it on purpose, maybe he only wanted to help Hicks.
But her heart still sank uncontrollably.
