Chapter 420: Chapter 420: I’ll Protect You From Him

Edie pulled herself slightly away from Stuart’s embrace. "You’re supposed to help me! You know we can’t until I heal?"

Stuart took a deep breath and asked as the sexual frustration grated through his voice. "Let me help you put your blouse on."

After they were finished, they walked to the door and opened it. Cecil was lying on the floor, sound asleep. Edie widened her eyes in surprise. She kneeled down beside him and gently rubbed his cheek. "Cecil, wake up," she said softly.

Cecil jumped in front of Edie and looked at Stuart defiantly. "What did you do to Edie? My father said men should never beat women. You’re a bad man," he said, not taking his eyes off him.

"I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about," Edie said, completely confused. "Stuart didn’t beat me."

"Don’t be afraid. I won’t let him hurt you again." Cecil shouted with a touch of anger in his voice as he stood in front of Edie to protect her from Stuart.

"I’m telling you the truth. He didn’t hurt me," Edie said.

"I heard you groaning. If he didn’t touch you, why did you make that sound?" Cecil’s gaze roamed over her face as he looked for a sign from her, confusing him even more."What did she do? Why would you beat her?" He turned to Stuart with questioning eyes.

Cecil thought Stuart was hurting Edie, but she was moaning in pleasure. Her face flamed in embarrassment. She lowered her head, hoping he wouldn’t notice. ’How am I going to explain this to him?’ she wondered. Edie tried hard to sound sincere. "I was making that sound because it hurt when Stuart put the ointment on my back," she hurried to explain.

Stuart laughed inside and couldn’t help but grin. "In pain?" he muttered under his breath.

Edie heard what he said and rolled her eyes at him. "Not another word," she whispered.

Cecil narrowed his eyes as he studied Edie. "You’re telling me the truth?" he asked suspiciously.

"Of course, I am. You should know by now that Stuart would never hurt me," Edie explained to him.

"Why did it take you so long? At the hospital, it only took five minutes," Cecil asked inquisitively. "I heard you making those noises for a long time. It’s okay to tell me the truth. I’ll protect you from him.

Edie shook her head and said, "Honestly, I’m telling you the truth. Why would I lie?"

"One hundred percent sure? Scout’s honor?" Cecil said, raising three fingers as a Boy Scout would do.

"Scout’s honor," Edie repeated. "Go to your room and get changed. We’re going for a walk to get some exercise," she said, trying to get him to leave them alone for a moment.

"But...I’m still hungry," Cecil mumbled as he turned around reluctantly.

After he left, Edie turned and looked at Stuart. He had the biggest smile on his face. "Wipe that smile off your face. It’s all your fault," she said in a somewhat sarcastic tone.

Stuart couldn’t help himself. He teased her a bit more. "I like it when you groan," he said, whispering in her ear.

"You..." Edie was just about to give him a nudge when his phone rang.

Stuart had an odd expression on his face when he glanced at his phone. He answered, "Hello! Okay, give me ten minutes, and I’ll call you back." Edie had no idea what he was saying because he was talking in French and talking very fast. "I can’t go for a walk with you. I have a video meeting." His hand caressed her cheek and slid a strand of her hair behind her ear. She nodded her head and went to get Cecil.

Over the next few days, Stuart was very busy. Edie rarely saw him. At the same time, she was going to school and still taking the lessons in French. She was in a lesson with Mr. Clark when her phone rang. "I’ll only be a minute," she said.

Edie answered, "Get yourself dressed. We’re going out. It’s going to be so much fun," Brittany said with great excitement. "I’ll be over soon to pick you up," fгeewebnovёl.com

Caught off guard, Edie replied helplessly, "Where are we going?"

"I can’t tell you. It’s a secret," Brittany sounded so enthusiastic, Edie’s curiosity grew. Brittany changed the topic because she knew what Edie was thinking. "Where’s Stuart?" she asked.

"He’s at the office. He told me he has some important business to deal with," Edie explained.

"He’s not home?" Brittany said, raising her voice slightly. ’What’s going on? He asks me to come over, and he leaves?’ She was now confused herself. ’If he doesn’t show up, I guess I’ll have to take matters into my own hands,’ she thought to herself.

Not long after, Mr. Clark left, and Brittany arrived. Edie was wearing a white blouse, jeans, and a pair of white shoes. Brittany raised her eyebrows and said, "You’re going out like this?"

Feeling self-conscious, Edie replied, "What’s wrong? I don’t look good?"

Brittany shook her head and said, "No, it’s not that. You look beautiful." She hesitated for a moment and continued, "It’s just you’re dressed so plain. You’re Stuart’s wife."

Edie frowned, and a serious look came into her eyes. "Stuart doesn’t like it when I wear skirts or anything that reveals any part of my body," she explained, sounding a little disappointed. She loved dressing up, but she didn’t want to upset him. "He doesn’t want me wearing high heels because he thinks it’ll hurt my feet."

Brittany shook her head in pity. "He has his ways. I know how stubborn and determined he can be."

Edie sighed, knowing how persistent Stuart could be. "So, where are we going?" she asked with huge curiosity.

"I told you I couldn’t tell you. It’s a surprise," Brittany said with a sly smile.

They all went to get into the car, and it wasn’t long before they arrived at their destination. "It’s....a bridal shop," Edie said, her voice quivering as tears ran down her cheeks. Her heart was filled with so much joy that she thought she might burst with happiness.

"A little surprised?" Brittany asked as she looked at the expression on Edie’s face. "What are you thinking? Do you like it?"

Edie didn’t know what to say. She was lost in her thoughts. Stuart was making plans all along, and she had no idea. All she knew was she couldn’t wait for this day to happen.
