Edie leaned toward Andy slightly, and with the most serious look on her face, she said, "You should think about changing careers." freёwebnoѵel.com
Andy looked at her for a moment with a bewildered expression on her face. "What are you talking about?" she asked.
"You have quite the imagination. I think you should become an editor," Edie said with a bitter laugh.
Andy’s face tightened and grew redder by the second. Listen here, you bitch! You’re trying to change the topic. You never answered my question." The sneer on her rugged face was unmistakably vicious. "What are you hiding?" She gives Edie a disgusted look. "You know it’s people like you who ruin the circle."
Edie was getting tired of all the fighting. She couldn’t escape the thoughts in her head. ’What is it about Europe that makes everyone hate me? A simple thing as a ring, and then I’m the center of attention.’
She raised her voice sternly. "It’s my business if I choose to wear a ring or not. It has nothing to do with any of you." As soon as the words came out of her mouth, there was a knot in her stomach. She was putting on a brave face for her thoughts were on what she couldn’t control.
After being married to Stuart for long, he still had no idea about the significance of a ring. A wedding ring is an ancient and important emblem of a marital union; the circle symbolizes unity and eternity, and Edie knew it. Why didn’t Stuart? ƒrēewebnovel.com
Andy continued to stare at Edie. "We see you come and go every day with a different man driving you. Are you a prostitute?" She spat the sentence at her in disgust. "Maybe it’s legal where you come from, but it’s definitely not here."
A long, excruciating minute passed as everything went silent. Everyone in the room stood there looking at Edie with their mouths wide open, eyes wide open and a look of shock on their faces.
Edie was looking from Andy to the other women with a perplexed expression on her face. She could feel the anger in her beginning to stir. She clenched and unclenched her fists in an effort to regain control of emotions.
Andy stood there, glaring at Edie. "You haven’t said a word. So is it true?" she asked as she put her hands on her hips and looking pleased with herself. "The first time I saw you, I knew what kind of woman you were. We started three days before you, and then suddenly, you appear. Why is that?" she said. Her tone of voice was overly aggressive and unnecessarily rude. "Everyone in this school had a major role in a film, but not you! One person who’s had this kind of experience is accepted here. So how did you get in?" She stopped for a moment as she turned to look at the women and laughed, "She got in because her sugar daddy’s bribed the school."
Andy’s words repeatedly echoed in Edie’s head. "She’s despised me since the first day she laid eyes on me. Investigating, bullying, and making accusations about me." She wondered if she should tell them the truth.
The reason she was three days late was that she was taking care of her husband. As for the different men driving her, it was because Stuart was busy working, and the servants would drive her. ’Why do they think this out of the ordinary?’
Edie suddenly had a stern, determined look on her face. Her eyebrows raised, and her mouth squeezed like she didn’t care what Andy said. She quickly pulled her arm away from Andy and said, "What the hell is your problem? All of this has to do with how I got in?"
Andy was trembling as the anger raced through her like a flame along with petrol. "You...." She opened her mouth to speak but was cut off by Edie.
"Do you know what you are? You’re a bully. You can’t stand confrontation, and you hate it. That’s why you’re such a bully, so you can have power, so you’re in control. Guess what? You’re no longer in control." Edie brings her hand to her mouth and gently puts her finger to her lips. "Shhh...I think you should be careful about what you say. You may offend someone you shouldn’t," she said, looking Andy directly in the eyes. "You know I have a rich supporter and that I’m not from here, right? What would happen to you if I told the man who’s backing me?"
Andy looked livid. She started shouting and swearing at Edie. "You bitch! How dare you threaten me! I’m rich. I have money, and what do you have? You’re a tramp who has nothing !" She was furious and started to rush towards Edie.
One of the women from the room grabbed her arm to stop her. "Stop it! We don’t like her either, but she’s right. We have no idea who her sugar daddy is and what he’s capable of doing to us. Keep your mouth shut and ignore her." She was growing increasingly nervous with each word.
Edie looked at Andy and smiled. No longer was she going to put up with snobs like her. Her natural, relaxed facial expression depicted the anger she harbored inside from the moment she met these women. "You’re rich? Do you not rely on your husband? Why does it matter so much where my money comes from?" Edie said, raising her voice slightly. "I would advise you not to talk behind people’s back because tomorrow there may be someone who talks behind yours.
"How dare you defy me—you shameless hussy. I am no easy enemy," Andy replied venomously.
"Talk all you want about me. But I warn you, your time will come," Edie said, and then she turned to leave. Then suddenly, Edie screamed, "What the hell did you do?" Andy went over and grabbed the tea off the counter and threw it on Edie’s back. Edie closed her eyes against the rush of pain and tried to will the tears back. She opened them, and Cecil was looking at her with a frightened expression on his face.
Andy starts laughing and says, "Do you really think I’m afraid of you? I’m more powerful than you’ll ever be. If you say anything about me or even dare to touch me. I will see that you pay the price. Do you hear me?"
Cecil’s face got redder with each word she spoke. The veins in his neck threatened to pop. "Do you have any idea who she is?" he asked. Then he came inside and stood in front of Edie, but Edie took two steps to the side and threw her cup of coffee at Andy.
"How dare you," she screamed. The pain was excruciating. "Someone...helps me! It hurts!" she said, she cried hardly able to get words out for the pain in her hand.
"Put your hand under cold water," someone shouted.
Finally, Andy’s hand starts to feel a little better and turns to face Edie. Edie narrows her eyes and glares at her. "You’re in no position to make demands on me," she said absently, rubbing her back. "Payback’s a bitch!" she said. Her voice and expression were cold.
Andy came to Edie like a crazy woman, screaming and shouting curses. Edie stood back, arms crossed, grinning. "My work is done," she said. Then Andy raised her hand to slap Edie across the face.
