Chapter 408: Chapter 408: You Save Stuart

Edie squints at him as if in disbelief. "Thank you, thank you," she cried, clapping her hands together like an eager child. "You’re the best husband a woman could ask for." She starts asking him one question after another. "When can I start? Do you think today is too soon?"

Seeing her so happy, Stuart didn’t want to disappoint her. He shook his head. "No, I’ll make the call," he answered.

Edie clung to him passionately and kissed his cheek. "You need to change. You’re going to be late for work," she said, patting his chest, then stepping back.

Stuart nodded. "I’ll be down shortly," he said. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Cecil saw the whole thing. He watched them intently, covering his eyes with one hand and peeking through his fingers. He noticed Edie coming down the stairs, and he removed his hand from his eyes. Then he pushed his plate of half-chewed toast aside and leaned toward her. "Why did you stop?" he asked curiously.

Edie rolled her eyes and smiled. "You shouldn’t be watching us," she said, feeling her face flush with embarrassment.

Cecil was more curious than ever. He tilts his head to the side and asks. "You were supposed to kiss him on the lips. Why did you kiss him on the cheek? Do you not love him?" He wanted to see how much they loved one another, but nothing happened to his disappointment.

Stuart was on his way downstairs when he overheard Cecil talking to Edie. He peeked his head in the kitchen and looked at Edie. "He’s right, you know."

Edie could feel her face getting redder and redder. "Stuart, he was watching us. I never expected you would agree on him," she said, softening her voice so only he could hear her. Suddenly, embarrassment turned to anger. "Ridiculous! Impossible! He’s a child," she said, slightly raising her voice.

"It’s not a bad thing. Girls kiss me at school all the time. They all want to marry me!" Cecil grinned and looked from Edie to Stuart. "If you love him. You should always kiss him on the lips." freёweɓnovel.com

Neither Stuart nor Edie moved, Cecil’s face began to red with anger. He slammed his fist on the table and shouted. "Stuart, since Edie didn’t kiss you. You need to take the initiative and kiss her first," he demanded. "My father told me that if you don’t love her, then you only kiss her on the cheek.

Stuart lifted his eyebrow as he looked down at Cecil. He lifted Edie’s face and looked deep into her eyes. "Go ahead. I’m ready," she said, smiling nervously.

Cecil put his hands over his eyes and peered at them through his fingers, chuckling with pleasure. Then without any hesitation, Stuart leaned over and kissed her on the lips. The kiss was gentle, very different from the passionate one they’d shared last night. Stuart pulled away, and he’s breathing heavily as he looked at her. Having once had a taste, he wanted more. Then he looks at Cecil and very quietly says, "Tell your father, I love her with all my heart. He turns to Edie and says, "I have to get something from the study. Then I’m going to make you breakfast."

As Edie watched him leave, she gave Stuart a little smile that sent a jolt of heat through him. She could feel her cheeks getting flushed, heating up and turning a deep shade of red. She looked at Cecil, who had a self-satisfied smirk on his face. "You know too much for only being six. How do you know so much about women? Did you learn it from your father?"

"No, my father’s rarely ever home," he said. Edie could hear the disappointment in his voice. He opened his eyes wide. "All the servants at home are beautiful women, but not as beautiful as you," he laughs. For an instant, he stopped talking as if he were thinking about something. "You know! You saved Stuart."

"What do you mean?" Edie asked, sounding as uncertain as she looked.

"There’s always been talk about Stuart and how he’d be single for the rest of his life. Then you came along. I think you were an angel sent from heaven to save him. You’re in his heart and in mine," he explained. His bright green eyes are sparkling with intelligence and animation.

Edie laughed at the expression on his face. "Did you want Stuart to find a wife?" she asked curiously.

Cecil shook his head, and with a very broad grin on his face, he said, "Yes, of course, I did. But I wish it wasn’t you." He takes a deep breath, and his face glows with excitement. "I want to be your husband. You can wait until I grow up." He stood on the table, pretending to be a grown-up.

"Cecil, get down! You’re going to hurt yourself," Edie said in a concerned tone. Then she picked him up and set him on the floor.

Stuart’s voice came from behind them, throwing a bucket of cold water over his thoughts. Stop talking such nonsense, or I’m sending you home," he said in a stern voice.

Suddenly Cecil’s face flushed, and he lowered his eyes guiltily. He instantly moves as far away from Stuart as he can and begins to pout. The look on Cecil’s face made Edie laugh, "You’re such a silly little boy," she said.

Cecil looked at her sadly and whispered, "See, he has a very bad temper. He always picks on me."

"I told you to stop talking such nonsense," Stuart said, his voice even louder than before.

Cecil hides behind Edie. "Don’t let him spank me," he said.

Laughter filled the room, and for a moment, at least, their problems were forgotten. They were making it feel like a real home.

After they finished eating breakfast, Stuart went to his office, and the tutor arrived shortly after. "Very nice to meet you, Mrs. Yates," he said as he shook her hand. It was a retired professor around the age of sixty-years-old.

In the beginning, Edie felt nervous. But after a few lessons, she started to feel a bit more relaxed. With her sharp brain and retentive memory, she found the lessons easy. "I find that I can understand the very basics of a French conversation when spoken by an English person because they tend to speak slowly," she explained.

"You’re catching on quickly," he assured her.

The next three days passed by quickly. After having the French lessons, Edie was quite confident in her ability to understand and speak French. Now it was time for her to start her acting classes.
