Chapter 293: Chapter 293: You Are My Wife

As soon as they arrived at the Villa, Edie and Stuart quietly went to their bedroom. Stuart gently laid Edie on the bed, and in a matter of seconds, he stripped them both naked. They made intense, passionate love like never before. After that, she fell into a deep sleep. When Edie woke up, it was daylight. She could hear someone’s voice coming from outside the bedroom and realized it was Stuart.

"Is Hicks okay? Is she in danger?" Stuart asked, his voice full of concern. He lowered his voice and looked towards the bedroom door.

Edie groggily tried to regain her senses. She wondered for a second if it was a dream. Her heart raced within her, fast and hard. "What is wrong with Hicks, and who is Stuart talking to?" Edie said under her breath. She pitied Hicks and disapproved of her actions, and every time Edie heard her name, she couldn’t help but feel jealous. Her thoughts were now of her husband and Hicks, ’If Hicks is Marina, I hope that one day she can find true happiness and finally leave us alone.’

Stuart hung up the phone and walked into the bedroom. Seeing Edie awake, Stuart frowned, "Did I wake you up?"

Edie tried hard not to act upset. "No...." she said, trying to smile. Her voice sounded strangled as she fought back the tears of despair.

Stuart interrupted her before she could say another word, "Hicks was on set, and something fell and hit her on the head. She was taken to the hospital and is in a coma."

The more Stuart spoke, the more his face grew grimmer. He paced the room backward and forwarded for a few minutes in an agitated way.

"Stuart, what’s going on?" Edie sounded startled.

Stuart turned and looked at Edie. His eyes were dark and cold. He wanted nothing more than to tell her the truth. ’I can’t tell her that Ivan thinks it wasn’t an accident. Whoever hurt Hicks will probably try and hurt Edie. I have to find out who it is because if something happens to Edie, I will never forgive myself.’ Stuart could feel his blood pressure rising. He took a deep breath.

"Stuart, you’re frightening me. Tell me what’s wrong?" Edie’s voice was quivering.

Stuart took another deep breath and calmly said, "Get dressed. We’re going to the hospital."

Edie hesitated, "You want me to go with you? What will people think?" Edie paused, "I think you need some space to get your affairs in order. You don’t know if she’s Marina and I will only be in the way. Do you remember what we talked about last night? Now it’s my turn to trust you."

Edie never said another word and did what Stuart asked. Hick’s was in the VIP ward, and there were bodyguards standing outside her door.

When they walked into the room, Hicks was lying on the bed, looking so helpless and fragile. Alexia, Hicks’s agent, was sitting by the bedside sobbing. "She’s struggled her whole life, and now this happens to her. I don’t understand. How could something like this happen?" she said through her tears.

All eyes turned to Stuart, but he showed no reaction. He didn’t utter a word. He only stared at Hicks, and his face showed no emotion.

"Hicks is going to be okay," Edie said, attempting to comfort her.

Then there were voices heard at the door and the sound of footsteps approaching. The door swung open. "Stuart, you’re here. I was talking to the doctor, and he told me you just arrived," Anna said excitedly.

Edie cringed at the sound of her voice. Anna looked around the room and saw Edie. The smile on her face immediately disappeared. ’How dare he bring her here. Edie this and Edie that. It’s always about her. I will never be able to be alone with him,’ Anna thought.

Edie gave Anna a smile and said, "Hello."

Anna shrugged, and half smiled back. There was so much that Anna could have said. So many angry words were welling up inside her, but in the end, she had repressed them. Thinking there was no point. She couldn’t imagine Stuart not being in her life. Therefore, she knew she had to be kind to Edie. Anna’s eyes narrowed as the thoughts flashed through her mind. ’I haven’t seen Stuart in days, and when I do, she’s here. Why did he bring her here?’

Anna forced a smile to her lips and worked a sentence to her throat. "Edie, how nice of Stuart to bring you to see Hicks, or should I say, Marina." Every line she said, every move she made, she knew Stuart was looking at her.

"Well, don’t just stand there. Come over and see Hicks. She’s so beautiful, isn’t she?" Anna was only trying to provoke Edie. Make her angry or drive her away.

Edie knew that women like Anna could be manipulative enough to achieve their goals, no matter what it took. But at the same time, Edie knew Stuart would never leave her. He didn’t have to say it; she knew it in her heart and trusted him with her life.

Anna took a deep breath and said, "Edie, I need to talk to you."

Edie looked surprised. "What do you mean, talk? Right now! We don’t have anything to talk about as far as I’m concerned."

"Listen, Anna, and you have no right to medal in my personal life. Stuart and I are together, and you have to accept it. Is that clear?" Edie said calmly.
