After hearing Karen’s question, Donald jerked the steering wheel to the right. Karen was caught off guard and plunged forward. Then she hit her head on the windshield. Before she had a chance to say anything, she heard Donald’s cold voice. "You asked me where the previous Donald was? Don’t you know? He is dead." Donald wore an evil smile on his face, and his voice was hoarse.
His voice sounded like it came from hell. Karen’s whole body was shaking, and her thoughts were scattered. While rubbing the back of her head, she tried to open the door, but it was locked. Then Donald grabbed Karen’s neck, and it felt like she was being held by iron forceps. His brow furrowed as his mouth turned grim, and his fierceness took her breath away.
"You have always known the truth. Right from the beginning when I lost my memory, you had many opportunities to tell me. If I was treated properly it would have been possible to restore all my memories and for that, I will never forgive you." Donald looked at Karen in a glare of hate. He took a long, deep breath and struggled to control his emotions. "But no, you and Joanna decide to lie to me. Then you allow me to give up Edie without me even knowing! That makes you almost as bad as me. You’re a cruel woman for doing this to me!"
Karen wanted to explain and try and make Donald understand why she did what she did. "Yes, Donald, you’re right. It was Joanna and me who decided to keep it a secret. Joanna fell in love with you and I wanted you to take back Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd." Karen’s eyes were filled with tears. "If you insisted on staying with Edie, you would have ended up with nothing. To get back Hawk Real Estate Co, you needed the cooperation of the Bella Family. That was my own selfishness. I need you to understand. I wasn’t trying to hurt you! I was trying to protect!"
As Karen was talking to Donald, it was getting harder and harder for her to breathe. His hand was around her throat and his grip was getting tighter. This was the very first time Karen thought he was going to kill her. "Donald, do you really want to kill me?" Karen said, her voice barely audible. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Karen was as white as a ghost and trembling all over. She never tried to struggle, and she just looked at him. Donald had an evil grin on his face, he blinked his eyes and said, "You’ve helped me so much. How could I kill you? You almost betrayed me today and I will make sure it never happens again." His angry face stared fiercely at Karen. He was getting angrier by the second. "I will not allow you to talk to Edie ever again. I know how tired you are, so you are going on a vacation just like our mother."
Karen was frightened, and her heart was pounding fast and hard. Out of desperation, she said, "If you take me away there will be no one here to help you!" Karen shook her head struggling to talk. "No, please don’t take me. I promise I won’t go near Edie. You have to let me stay with you."
"Do you think I want someone around me who has and will betray me again? The only reason I’m not going to kill you is that I remember the years that you took care of me. But I want you to know, no one will stop me from getting Edie. Stuart can’t have her, even if it costs me my life." Donald’s voice was cold and deadly.
"No, Donald! Please don’t do this, and I don’t know what I will do if anything happens to you. What I have done was only to protect you!" Karen said, trying to reason with Donald.
The creases on his face deepened, and he seemed to withdraw into his own thoughts for a moment. The crazy smile on Donald’s face deepened. "I know if you stay, you will only try and stop me. When Edie and I are finally together, I will come back and get you."
Karen knew that no matter what she said to him, it was useless. She wondered what would happen to the chairman if he imprisoned her and asked, "Donald, I said I would help you take back the rights of Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd., but you have kidnapped the chairman. All of our plans are going to be ruined. What are you going to do?"
"Plans? According to what you planned, I will soon be the chairman. Since my dear mother is no longer around it will be sooner rather than later." Donald said sarcastically. "This is not my main priority, Edie is! I can’t stand thinking about the woman I love lying in the arms of another man. Do you realize how much pain I am in every single day?" Donald looked at the mirror, pausing briefly. "I have nightmares every night, and they are always the same. Edie is there, and suddenly she is gone. One day I will die, and you will have to let me go! Whatever my fate, I will accept it, but I will never give up, Edie!" Donald said with his calm voice.
Donald was going mad. He just sat there with an expression of sadness on his face. Karen closed her eyes and took a deep breath and said, "Donald, I know how much you love Edie. There is nothing wrong with that, but you are going about it the wrong way. You have hurt too many people, and if Edie ever finds out, she will never forgive you."
"So," Donald laughed. "How will Edie find out? I will not tell her and you will not tell her. If anyone dares to tell her then I will silence them. Therefore, how would Edie ever find out the truth?" Donald’s tone was light, but it implied if someone said something, then he would kill them.
Karen said in a soft voice, "Donald, don’t do this. Please let me stay and help you. No one knows you better than me. You want Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd., and I will help you! You want to get Edie back. I will also help you! I beg of you, and please do not imprison me!"
Donald looked at Karen sympathetically and said, "I’m flattered to see you care about me so much, but I have no use for you anymore. Anyone who threatens my relationship with Edie has to disappear. Blame it on my heart because this has to be done."
A smile touched the corner of his mouth, and his voice was full of venom. Karen looked at his smile in surprise. She was just about to speak when Donald took out a towel and put it over her face.
"No!" Karen said, but she was only able to get out one word. She stared intently into Donald’s eyes, venting her unwillingness until she could no longer see. Donald confirmed that Karen was unconscious, and he moved his hand. He casually threw the towel in the back seat and pushed Karen to the side of the car. He stepped on the gas pedal and drove away like a vanishing meteor in the midnight.
Soon, the car stopped at a pier where his boat was. He made a gesture, and the men immediately came down. They took Karen out of the car and carried her to the boat. The boat started and disappeared in the night.
The meddler finally disappeared, and a smile appeared on Donald’s face, but the next second, his head hurt like madness as if countless ants were biting at his nerves. He was shaking and fell on the beach. He was curled in a ball from the pain.
The waves hit him, and he couldn’t move. It was as though he was unconscious. Finally, the pain receded, and Donald laid in the sand. He was gazing at the dark sky while laughing and, in his eyes, were tears. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Whatever madness had gripped him was too strong for Donald to resist, and he silently said, "Edie, my illness is getting worse. I hope I can soon be with you!" He laid motionless on the beach.
