Chapter 283: Chapter 283: First Pregnancy Course
Edie and Danny talked for a while longer before she left the company. It was still early, so she decided she would visit Stuart at work. Edie decided not to have a driver today, so she stopped on the side of the road to get a taxi. When she got in the cab, and once the driver heard she was going to the L.N. Group, the taxi driver looked at Edie in admiration.
"Wow, young lady, you work at the L.N. Group!" he said with great respect.
Edie smiled and said, "No, I don’t work there. My husband does."
Then the driver said excitedly, "Wow, your husband must be a very successful man! He must be earning millions of dollars every year! I heard even a security guard who works there earns at least three million dollars a year." Then he took a deep breath and continued, "My uncle’s neighbor went to an interview for a job this year, but unfortunately, he didn’t get it."
"Millions of dollars?" Edie pondered in her mind and thought at least two zeros must have been added. He praised her throughout the whole drive. When Edie rifled through her purse for change, she accidentally found a wrinkled business card. It was Clyde Jackson’s.
Edie was startled for a moment, then she remembered when Clyde bumped into her, and she dropped her phone. Then Clyde gave her the business card and offered to buy her another phone. She wondered, "Should I contact him since the filming is starting soon?" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Edie gave up on the idea immediately when she thought of his vigorous fans on Twitter. She also decided to keep her distance from Clyde during the filming because she didn’t want any gossip spreading. She quickly arrived at the L.N. Group, thanked the taxi driver, and went straight to Ivan.
Ivan was chatting with some of his colleagues in the tea room. As soon as he saw Edie, he was startled and said, "Mrs. Yates, the CEO is in a meeting, I’ll go tell him you’re here."
As soon as the people heard that Edie was the CEO’s wife, they greeted her and left the room. Edie stopped Ivan and said, "Don’t disturb him; I don’t mind waiting for him."
Ivan replied, "Okay, Mrs. Yates, please wait in the lounge. Stuart won’t take long."
Edie nodded and followed Ivan to the VIP room. She noticed two tickets in Ivan’s hand, she started to tease him and said, "Are you going to the movies after work?"
Unexpectedly, Ivan shook his hand in the air and said, "No, it’s not a movie, it’s... it’s..."
Edie was getting curious and asked, "What is it?"
Ivan scratched his head in embarrassment and said in a low voice, "These are vouchers for the Women’s First Pregnancy Course."
Edie’s eyes almost popped out of her head. Taken by surprise, she said, "Your wife is pregnant? Wait, are you even married?"
"I’m not married! I’m taking my girlfriend," Ivan explained.
Edie was speechless, took a deep breath, and said, "You’re bringing your girlfriend to a pregnancy course?"
Ivan was a little stiff seeing Edie’s reaction and tried to explain in more detail, "Yes, is there a problem? Bringing her to this course can show her that I’m a caring and considerate man."
"Who told you that?" Edie asked.
"Master Anderson," Ivan said with uncertainty in his voice.
"Todd Anderson," Edie replied, her voice hardly above a whisper. Then she thought of the box of condoms he gave her the last time she had seen him and suddenly understood.
Edie looked at Ivan and said firmly, "If you take her to this course, I personally guarantee that this will be your last date."
Ivan’s face turned pale. She saw the look of confusion on his face, and he asked, "Really? Master Anderson said inviting a woman to dinner and a movie is too cheesy. He told me she wouldn’t enjoy herself, so he suggested that I buy this instead."
"Oh, that Todd Anderson," Edie said with a sigh and patted Ivan’s shoulder.
"You need to listen to me. Book a dinner at a nice restaurant and buy two tickets to a movie. Then greet your girlfriend at the doorstep with a dozen roses. She will be very pleased," Edie said, her voice sounding very earnest.
Ivan nodded continuously and said, "Okay, I’ll go get them right now."
Edie felt relieved for saving Ivan from humiliation. Then unexpectedly, Ivan passed the two vouchers to Edie.
"I don’t need the vouchers anymore, Mrs. Yates, why don’t you go with the CEO?" Ivan said thankfully.
"Um... I don’t need it." Edie said as the uneasiness drifted through her.
When Edie was just about to refuse; Ivan smiled and said, "Please take them, I won’t be needing them anymore."
Then he closed the door and left. Edie was forced to accept the two Women’s First Pregnancy Course vouchers. She quickly set them on the table. The lounge door was suddenly opened. Edie thought it was Ivan and was just about to persuade him to take them back. She raised her head, looked at the door, and to her surprise, it was Stuart.
"Why are you here? Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? Stuart said as he looked around the room. He had a very serious expression on his face and asked, "Have you been waiting long? freёweɓnovel.com
Edie smiled and shook her head and said, "No, I just got here."
When Stuart was just about to speak, he looked at the table and noticed the two vouchers. He bent over and picked them up. Edie’s expression changed drastically, she wanted to stop him, but it was too late.
"Women’s First Pregnancy Course," Stuart said as he read the contents on the voucher out loud. Then he looked down at Edie.
"You want to go to this course?" Stuart asked doubtfully.
Edie was so embarrassed, her face started to turn red and raised her hand in the air and said, "No, no, no, I can explain, Ivan just passed them to me."
"Let’s go then," Stuart said casually.
"Huh?" Edie said with a startled expression.
Stuart lowered his head, leaned towards Edie, looked into her eyes, and said, "I thought you said you wanted a baby last night? I didn’t expect you to be so enthusiastic, so let’s go."
Edie’s face was as red as an apple, and she replied, "But I really don’t want to go."
Stuart thought she was shy, he fondled her hair and said gently, "I still have some work to do. I’m almost finished, and we can leave in about ten minutes."
Edie didn’t want to go, but she didn’t want to disappoint Stuart. When he finished work, they immediately left. To put her mind at ease, Edie thought that going to this course would benefit both her and Stuart as they were going to have a baby sooner or later.
When they arrived at the room, she noticed that everyone came in couples. This made her feel much better. The only disharmony was the whispering sounds coming from around them.
"Honey, look at that man! He is so handsome! He looks like a celebrity?" The woman said It was obvious that she was referring to Start.
However, the husband rebutted and said, "Really? Is he more handsome than me?"
"Isn’t that obvious?" The woman said.
Overhearing a conversation like this, Edie tittered inside. Stuart gently tapped her shoulder and said, "Watch your step."
