Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Impression

The next day the audition of Dynasty Elegy was organized for Eddie. It was to take place later on in the evening as it was not a formal audition. Also, it could only be done when the producers and directors were available.

When Eddie arrived, she was surprised to see the director Malloy Gentry in the room. Malloy was a specialist in the industry. Since the nineteen-eighties, he had been focusing on costume dramas.

Some of his former work was "Emperors" and "A Dream of the Spring Building." They had become classic plays written in novels. He was now in his sixties this year and was known as the national opera treasure. The people of his country greatly valued this.

Malloy Gentry had turned many of his novels into numerous films. So knowing how famous he was, it was a privilege for the actors and actresses to have a chance to act in one of his movies. Eddie became very nervous and flustered when she saw Malloy backstage, "Malloy, Director Malloy, hello."

Malloy glanced at her with an expressionless look on his face, "Are you auditioning for Mae today?"

"Yes, I am."

"Come with me, and I will show where to get your makeup put on."

Without saying another word, he turned around. Eddie froze for a second, she felt tense, and her body was shaky and then she followed Malloy. The audition was based on two things, the personal image and the performance. To save time, they had decided not to use makeup today, but Malloy insisted that it had to be done.

Before it started, Eddie could feel herself getting very nervous again. She took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself down. Eddie looked in the mirror after they were done with her makeup and was amazed at the work, she touched her face because it seemed so real. Mae had a facial scar, so her makeup was done to look exactly the same as the character.

Two of the main characters in the play were Prince Raines and the Emperor. Prince Raines was taught at the age of three how to write. Then at the age of five, he was shown how to fight in a battle. The Emperor had a kind heart and had a great deal of love for his son.

The palace was very treacherous, and because of this, there was an alleged assassination attempt against the Emperor. The arrow was stuck close to the Emperor’s heart. On his deathbed, he commanded Prince Raines to rule in his place.

Mae was a perfect match for him, and she was intelligent and affectionate. In the play, Mae was saved by Sally when she was a child and brought to live with her as a servant. Mae had a special place in the Yale Family. She wasn’t treated like the other servants.

Ever since Mae was a child, she and Sally were always together. Mae was very efficient at reading and writing, and she was also proficient in embroidery. The scar on her face did not make others treat her differently, but it was known as a sign of her bravery for being Sally’s loyal protector. It was for that reason that Mae was different from all the servants.

Such a character was inevitably extravagant for a newcomer. A few well-known actresses chose Malloy’s role, but when they were told that her appearance was disfigured, they didn’t want the part.

Eddie was in the dressing room, thinking about her part in the play. The director brought in the stylist himself, and the stylist was a little nervous as she knew the makeup had to be done well. The makeup artist was also a little upset when she was asked to stay late, but as soon as she started doing Eddie’s makeup and saw her creation, she immediately felt relieved.

Before Eddie’s audition, a few of the producers got together to discuss the script and the budget for the movie. This was something that was typically done on a daily basis. They all gathered around the table in the auditioning room, and then Eddie walked in.

Dynasty Elegy was a joint venture with several large companies. There was a lot invested in this movie. They had to take into consideration the cost for the Emperor’s palace, and the clothing had to be extremely sophisticated.

Mae’s role was no exception. The dark black dress was made of fine silk, and Eddie’s pale skin made it look even more frosty. When they saw Eddie walk in, they were all impressed. Malloy didn’t speak, but Bob liked it, "Nice temperament."

He completely forgot that he didn’t like Eddie. His reason being was because Eddie was not a well-known actress. Eddie had a quiet and introverted style that was transcendent to her peers. She stood tall and graceful, and almost everyone was attracted to her before she had even spoken.

Mae’s scar was long and covered half of her face; it looked horrible. But on Eddie’s face, it was as if it wasn’t even noticed. When Eddie walked into the room, she instantly became Mae from the novel.

Malloy carefully glanced at Eddie with a thoughtful eye and then said blandly, "Now that you have read both the script and the novel, you have chosen to play it yourself."

"Director, this..." Bob looked at him with a surprised look on his face. An actor’s audition was either the most challenging plot or the best plot to reflect the character. Only in this way can the actor’s level be tested.

It was rare for an actor to choose for themselves. Malloy was a veteran, but a demanding director. He was not a soft-spoken person, so he let Eddie pick which scene. Bob and Malloy had worked together for more than a decade and understood this character. Malloy had chosen this character for Eddie, but he thought for sure she would do a poor job.

Bob saw that Malloy had finished talking, and he looked over at Eddie again. It seemed that Malloy had a different view of Eddie than him. Eddie looked a little doubtful, and she hesitated before asking, "So any paragraph will do?"

"Yes, do whichever one you want," Malloy gave Eddie a strange look and then nodded. Eddie pursed her lips slightly and slowly took two steps back to adjust her position. She took a deep breath and then suddenly the room went quiet.

When Eddie looked up at them, it was as though she had already made up her mind, "I’m going to pick the last scene. The one where Mae asks permission to leave the palace to defend the tomb of Prince Raines." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Malloy nodded again and said, "Please proceed with the scene."

Eddie took a few deep breaths trying to calm her nerves. She closed her eyes briefly, and when she opened them, it was as though she became someone else. Eddie’s temperament and even the emotions on her face seemed different.

She placed her hands in front of her and stood to the side, and her posture was the same as the woman in the palace. It was most commonly seen in historical dramas. Back in the eighteen hundreds, the servants were expected to dress in a manner that was modest, fit for the station, tidy, and clean. Eddie’s physical appearance matched Mae’s role entirely.

She lowered her head, and Eddie’s face assumed a serious expression. She led them slowly into a dignified and solemn situation as if they were all in the palace. Her voice sounded restrained, "My Queen, it is Mae, and I beg you to listen to me." ƒгeewebnovёl.com

As soon as they heard her voice, Kane Jacobson and Quentin Landry looked at her respectfully, but with profound curiosity. The intense sensation startled Eddie.

She had so much meaning and feeling in her voice, and she had no idea of what a strong impression it had made on them.
