Chapter 249: Chapter 249: You’ve Changed A Lot

When Eddie arrived at the coffee shop, Donald was sitting in the corner. He was clean-shaven and dressed casually. Eddie looked into his eyes, and they were filled with kindness and warmth, she had seen it once before when they were together.

Seeing him sitting there, drinking a cup of coffee brought the memories back. Eddie remembered when they were together how he used to wait for when she finished her class. She knew things were so different now and that they could never go back to the way it was.

Eddie came to see Donald in hopes of putting this whole thing between them to an end. She had no idea that his ulterior motive was to get her back. The sound of Eddie’s high heels alarmed Donald, and he looked up with a warm smile on his handsome face.

"You’re here, and I was afraid you wouldn’t come."

Eddie sat across from him. "You don’t have to do this, and this isn’t your style, "Eddie said.

"Joanna asked me to come. She knew I was out of control and did something very cruel to you. Joanna made me go away so I could get better. So I am here today as Joanna asked me to do it. If I don’t meet with you, she will not let me come back."

Donald smiled, picked up the menu, and handed it to her, "I know you must be tired and hungry, order something."

Eddie was surprised that Joanna would even allow them to meet alone. She didn’t know Joanna well, but she knew that whenever Eddie and Donald were together, she was always going out of her mind. Joanna would never let them even say two words to one another. So Eddie wondered if Joanna actually asked Donald to come.

She questioned his motives, but she said nothing as she could see he was in such a good mood. Eddie took the menu and glanced at it and said, "Two American coffees please."

As soon as she spoke, she was surprised and froze. Eddie looked at Donald and saw the expression on his face, and it was a look of satisfaction. She shook her head and repeated it, "I want a cup of American coffee, you can order yourself."

She was so used to the times that she had spent with Donald. Every time he visited her in college, she would order two cups of American coffee in the coffee shop and then sat across from her to read her script. Donald was very calm and didn’t do anything unusual. He nodded and said, "I want a cup of Ice American coffee. After so many years, I still love to drink this."

There was no change in his face. But inside Donald was ecstatic, she knew what he liked, and she didn’t forget. To Donald, that meant he was still in her heart!

This tiny detail gave him a lot of encouragement and a firm determination to get Eddie back, "We know each other so well; that’s why we should be together."

Eddie heaved a sigh of relief when she noticed there was no change in Donald’s expression. The coffee came, they drank it, and the atmosphere eased a lot. Eddie saw that Donald was really sincere about ending their relationship on good terms, so she worked hard to communicate with him and asked about his vacation.

"Everybody thinks a kangaroo is a gentle animal. In fact, a kangaroo is very fierce. It has powerful strength because it is so big. It’s not afraid of people at all. I had a villa by the sea and woke up one morning to find that the glass had been broken by kangaroos looking for food on the balcony."

Donald shared his story from when he was in Australia. Eddie was happy for him. She sighed, "You and Joanna are very close now. I envy you, and this is something that you need to cherish."

"Yes, but my ideal vacation would be to go to the white beach with the person I am in love with. We could look at the sea in the morning and hear the waves when you sleep at night. It would be only the two of us, and no one else would be around. It would just be the two of us living alone. Then there would be no worries about the outside world."

Eddie listened, her hand almost slipping from the cup as she watched him so intently. Then Eddie remembered something, "That’s what I told him a long time ago. How does he know that? Did he remember something?"

At first, she nodded in agreement and then a cold feeling clutched at her heart. It left her breathing hard and confused. As she watched with a concerned look on her face, Donald shrugged innocently, "These are my idle fantasies. They’re unrealistic."

"I think it’s a fantasy too," she said. Eddie had another sip of coffee, only to find that it had a bitter aftertaste. Donald just laughed, "Stuart is so busy at work that you don’t have much time to take a vacation, do you? Where would you like to go if you had the chance?"

"I haven’t really thought about it. I’m really busy with my work now, once things slow down I think we will probably talk about it." freewёbnoνel.com

Eddie didn’t know why she talked so much with Donald. The atmosphere was very harmonious, but her being with him, she always felt that something was wrong. This eerie feeling seemed to surround her, and Eddie knew it was time to leave.

"It’s getting late, and I should go home," As Eddie spoke, she stood up from her seat very quickly because of nervousness. From behind, she heard Donald’s calm voice, "Eddie, the necklace."

Only two words made Eddie immediately stop, turn around and look at Donald.

"Are you going to give the necklace back to me?" she asked in surprise.

Hearing this, Donald instantly knew that Stuart had taken the necklace back without telling Eddie. So was it proof that he still had a chance to use this to get closer to Eddie. A gentle smile spread across Donald’s face, and he shook his head softly.

"Sorry, the necklace has been donated. I know you’re not a money-hungry person. That necklace must be important to you. I’ll help you find it. It’s my way of paying you back for the things that I have done to you."

Eddie now believed that Donald was finally himself. The smile on his face was like the bright sunshine. She had not seen him for a month, and he now seemed to be a different person. Donald was not the same person who had been so sarcastic and cruel to her.

"You’ve changed a lot," Eddie said.

Donald smiled, "All thanks to Joanna."

Listening to him, she not only felt relieved for Donald but also looked at Joanna with new eyes. Unexpectedly, she saw Joanna so clearly.

"How is Joanna? I thought she was immersed in the newlywed life. I haven’t heard from her for a long time."

His face darkened, and his eyes flashed a warning, which made his face seem different. Eddie was looking the other way and didn’t notice.

"She’s fine, and I think we are going to try and have a baby." freewebnøvel.com

Eddie not only smiled but said, "That’s great. It is such a relief to see you happy."

"If you have time, we should have dinner with Joanna. I know you and Joanna have not gotten along in the past, but I think we can now put down the hatred and have a civilized conversation."

"Well, I’ll go back and talk to her about it, and I’ll get in touch with you later."

This time, Eddie really had to go. She said goodbye to Donald, and he didn’t keep her this time. Watching Eddie disappear, Donald’s eyes, which were lit up, suddenly became dark. The uncontrollable love seemed to come like the tide, flooding Donald’s reasoning.

The formerly gentle face gradually became ferocious. Donald clenched his fists and his nails embedded into his flesh.

"Eddie, you were mine, and you will be mine again. It won’t be long now!"
