Chapter 224: Chapter 224: It’s Man Stuff

Stuart’s cold gaze became calm and steady as he looked at Jason and said, "Gone?"

"Yes, a fire broke out last year at the hospital. A numerous amount of medical records were all burnt to ashes, and Hicks was one of them."

Jason raised his head as he spoke, his eyes gave off a chill behind his glasses, "Whether it’s memory loss or the disappearing of the medical record, it seems too coincidental! Don’t you think? This Hicks is by no means simple."

"That’s why I wanted you to investigate her background and find out who she knows."

Stuart held his head stiffly with his nose angled upward, and his lips pursed. There seemed to be complicated emotions flowing through his mind.

"This time, I made a special effort to go to Marina’s school to look for her documents, but the administration told me that all of her records were gone. Can it be any more coincidental? It’s clearly a trap. Marina has been dead for ten years and now a person who looks exactly the same appears. So how do you explain how all of her documents are gone? It couldn’t possibly be a simple coincidence."

Jason always had a query in mind. He pondered for a moment and asked, "Why do you have to find her when you have such a beautiful wife and a happy life? You know how troublesome it will be for you if you actually find her?"

It may be that Jason has never fallen in love, so he couldn’t understand why Stuart was so persistent. Marina had been dead for ten years, yet Stuart still hasn’t given up on trying to find her. Even if he still felt guilty about what had happened, Stuart had given a substantial amount of money to the Daisy family over the years. Why does he have to find Marina? Is he looking for trouble?

Stuart didn’t immediately reply. There was a distant look in his eyes, then he suddenly thought of something. His voice sounded calm and resolute, "I owe her."

"So, even with everything being so questionable and even knowing it may be a trap, you still insist on jumping in no matter what?"

Jason stood firmly and looked at Stuart. Stuart had no emotions on his face. That was Stuart, and he was a real man.

"Yes, it was me who eventually caused her death. I can’t get away with it. If she is alive? I have to find her."

Todd winced at the conversation, "I don’t understand, why do you always put everything on your shoulders? Marina is dead, and it’s over. Even her own family gave up looking for her, why are you still insisting that she is alive? It will only cause you trouble in the end."

Not speaking, Stuart stood silent for a moment and then answered, his voice was deep, "If Marina really died, then I owe her life forever."

For him, the past ten years of searching was redemption. freёwebnovel.com

"But now you have Eddie, and the two of you are happy. If you find Marina, will you divorce Eddie?"

Anna had asked Stuart the same question as Stuart’s answer did not change, he firmly said, "No, I married her, and I will not divorce her."

He indeed owed Marina, but he was not going to repay her by using himself. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"Then you have to be careful, and the entire incident is fishy, there’s definitely something not right about it. The target of the person behind this is definitely you. If he gets pushed too far, he might even harm the people around you. It could possibly bring danger to Eddie," Jason said with a serious tone in his voice.

Stuart paused and turned around with a stern look. They looked at his cold face, and Stuart said, "So, for the sake of Eddie, I have to expose him and take him down."

He was no longer the Stuart that they had known. Back then, he would play recklessly. He wouldn’t hesitate even if he had to use the L.N. Group as a stake. But now, Stuart had Eddie. He couldn’t bear to see any harm come to her. Stuart would protect his wife at all costs.

If anyone attempted to harm her, he would eliminate them one by one. Therefore, he had to fight for both himself and Eddie.

Stuart’s power was surging within him; he closed and eyes and took a few deep breaths. They were surrounded by Stuart’s aura of dignity. Jason looked over Stuart intently while he stared speechlessly at him. In Stuart’s heart, Eddie was more important than Jason had imagined. Jason was a little envious of Stuart because he had a person worthy of protection. Jason had never experienced the feeling of loving someone.

Jason suddenly smiled, "Now, I feel that I have been worrying too much."

Todd sighed deeply, "I never thought you would fall so hard for a woman."

"Now that we’re all on the same page, I hope you two can help me. Please protect Eddie for me if there ever comes a time that I am unable to do it myself."

Stuart gazed in the direction of the dining room. Seeing the side profile of Eddie’s shapely silhouette in the kitchen made his breath catch in his throat. Jason was surprised to see the expression on Stuart’s face. He had never seen such a gentle look on his face.

"These are all minor issues if you need any help, just ask us any time. We will take care of both you and Eddie," Todd promised. The bond between the three of them was intense. Stuart raised his cup to thank them.

Jason took a sip of Ceylon Tea and suddenly thought of something. He asked with curiosity, "Does Edie know about Marina?"

Stuart was silent, and still, his eyes closed in concentration, "Not yet, I’m afraid it will scare her. As I’m still not sure of Hicks’s real identity and telling Eddie now will only make her anxious, I’ll tell her after everything is sorted."

Jason nodded, looking puzzled, "Okay."

At this point in time, Eddie came out of the kitchen and was ready to call them for dinner. She was surprised to see the look on their faces as it clearly expressed the frustration of being baffled. Eddie thought there was something wrong. The relaxed atmosphere disappeared entirely. "Dinner is ready, but first, tell me what’s wrong?"

Jason quickly responded. He stood in front of Eddie, squinted through his glasses, and smiled, "It’s man stuff, you know how serious we get when we talk? By the way, Eddie, do you have any sisters? Being around you has made me think that I would like to have a woman who is similar to you."
