Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Grandfather’s Thought
Eddie didn’t try to defend herself. She was suddenly knocked down by Victoria. The back of her head was hit on the hard floor, and her eyes suddenly closed. She suffered from dizziness for a few seconds, and she could not push Victoria away, which made Victoria able to do it successfully.
Victoria was very powerful when she was angry. She was holding her throat and barely letting her breathe. Eddie’s face started to turn white and was slowly reddened by suffocation. The most chilling thing was that Stanley and Mrs. Greg, as well as the servants, just stood next to them; they didn’t even try to stop Victoria.
Nothing but bitterness is all that Eddie could feel. Victoria was treating her like an animal. How ironic it was that this family never regarded her as a human. Eddie was just about to lose her consciousness suddenly a loud voice hollered, "Stop!" The sound came from the top of the stairs with an authoritative tone.
The old man’s cane hit the floor, and the violent vibration of the solid wood staircase made the living room fall into complete silence. Upon seeing Old Greg, Stanley immediately gave Lucia (Mrs. Greg) a look. Lucia stepped forward and took Victoria off of Eddie. The weight of the body suddenly became light, and almost immediately, Eddie was able to breathe again. She stood up while gasping for air.
The Old Greg walked down the stairs, and his steps were very slow and steady. Step by step, the sound of his footsteps was the only thing that was heard, and no one dared to speak.
"What are you doing? You are making a complete mess of this family," Old Greg was the head of the house, and after him seeing what Victoria tried to do to Eddie, he was furious. As they looked at him, they all lowered their heads.
Lucia was holding Victoria in her arms on the sofa, and the tears flowed down her cheeks. Victoria yelled, "Grandpa, you are too eccentric! Why do you scold me but not say a word to her? Did you know that bitch stole my fiancé?"
Old Greg had a fierce look on his face, "Victoria, what did you call Eddie? Did you not receive a proper education?" Victoria realized that she had sworn in front of her grandpa. She shrank and turned her head away.
"My grand-daughter must not be well educated; apparently, she had been raised to be a female hooligan!" This is what he said to Mrs. Greg. Old Greg wanted to teach Lucia a lesson because right the beginning, he had always disliked her. Mrs. Greg didn’t say a word; she clenched her fists and bit on her lower lip to hold back her words. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Stanley saw how angry his father was, he was worried about his health and said, "Dad, you need to go lay down and rest, this thing between Eddie and Victoria."
Stanley didn’t have a chance to finish, when Old Greg interrupted him, "I know this thing." Old Greg whispered. His voice was not loud, but everyone in the room could hear it clearly.
"What?"
All three of the Greg’s said the same thing at once. There was a worried frown on Stanley’s face as he thought that Old Greg was confused, "Dad, have you taken your medicine today?"
Old Greg glared at Stanley, "Do you think I am crazy? I am perfectly aware of what is going on! When Stuart came to my birthday party, I had some doubts about his identity. Later, he called me to cancel the marriage contract and made a big adjustment to the contract between the Greg family and the L.N. Group and I agreed."
Had Older Greg been talking to Stuart in secret? Stanley thought that his father was just old and foolish. Even if it was a big adjustment to the contract, could it be more beneficial than the marriage of Stuart and Victoria?
Stanley didn’t dare to say it out loud and had only hatred in his heart; the only thing he could do was complain, "Dad, you should have discussed this matter with me."
"Discuss?" Old Greg grinned, "This is what I earned. When I was in the business world, you were still in your mother’s stomach! Now you want to interfere with my decision? I am afraid that you are, sadly, mistaken. Stuart wanted to talk to me and only me!"
His words were so strong, and Stanley felt genuine fear trickle through him, "Dad, please, it was a misunderstanding, you misunderstood."
"I fucking misunderstood. I know you very well," Old Greg looked at his son with disappointment and said, "Eddie, follow me to the study room. Everyone else disappears from my sight!"
After he finished speaking, he turned around and left. Old Greg was usually a gentleman, and now he was furious. So no one dared to go against his wishes. The maid helped Eddie up the stairs, and from the living room, you could faintly hear Victoria’s unwilling voice, "Dad, Mom, are you really going to let Eddie off so easily?" freёweɓnovel.com
Eddie walked into the study, and the maid left and closed the door. Eddie could no longer hold her tears back and began to sob. Like a child, she walked to the front of her grandpa, kneeled down, and cried on his lap.
She was letting out all the grievances that she had just suffered, Old Greg looked upset as he listened to her cry and he even felt that his heart was broken, "Good girl, I am sorry we have made you suffer."
He tried to comfort her. Hearing her grandfather’s voice, Eddie cried more fiercely. Out of the whole family, the only person who cared about her was her grandpa, "Grandfather..." She said while still crying.
Old Greg let out a long sigh, and the look of being the arrogant man downstairs was gone. Now he seemed to be just an ordinary old man. He gently rubbed Eddie’s head and said, "This reminds of when you were just a child, you were so young. Every time you got upset, you wouldn’t say anything, but you would always come to me just like you are now. You would never cry in front of anyone, only me. You would always come and find me and kneel on my lap and cry."
"Later, you moved out, and I thought that it would be good for you. Then after you left, you never came back to see me. I thought about you every day. What would happen to you if you got hurt? Whose lap would you cry on? Not a day went by when I would think of this."
When she heard these words coming from his mouth, her tears flowed faster, "Grandpa, I am so sorry, it’s all my fault."
"You naive little girl," Old Greg said with a slight smile on his face. There was a wise light on his face, and he said, "Although I am old, I am still very wise. It doesn’t matter who is right or wrong? He knew very well; it is also my fault; after all, Victoria is my granddaughter. She was brought up being given whatever she wanted, and there were times when I could not protect you from her."
Eddie shook her head and could not say a word. How could she blame her Grandpa? For her, he was her only relative. She didn’t know how long she had been crying on her grandfather’s lap. Suddenly the door of the study was opened.
