Chapter 121: Chapter 121: I Won’t Let You Go
Donald frowned and instantly got angry, "You, who do you think you are?" He then looked into Edie’s eyes, and her body was trembling with fear as tears were coursing down her cheeks.
Her slim body collapsed on the floor, making her look even more vulnerable. It was as though at that instant, his heart involuntarily suspended. His heart ached with pain.
"You said that I couldn’t compare you to Joanna. I also admit that I have accepted the fact that you are with her, and I promised you that I would never bother you again. Why are you not letting me go? What do you want me to do? Do you want me to apologize to you?" fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Edie was frantic as she spoke, streams of tears flowed faster down her white cheeks. There was a broken beauty, "No, that is not what I want from you." Donald refuted subconsciously, but after he spoke, he didn’t know what he wanted from her.
"How much do you love Joanna is your business. You don’t need to tell me or anyone. I don’t have any interest in your relationship. But my relationship with Stuart is personal, and it is my business. It shouldn’t bother you. I now have only one wish, which is to disappear from your life completely, please you need to do the same. I beg you to let me go, and from now on, we will act as though we do not know each other!"
Edie got up and turned around and left without turning back. Donald wanted to reach out and grab her. But this time, Edie was prepared to protect herself against him. She slipped through his hold as if to escape the plague and walked as fast as she could.
Donald’s hands felt weak, and he didn’t know exactly how he felt was it anger, or was it, love. He called out to Edie, "We don’t owe each other anything? That is impossible, Edie, I won’t let you go... never..."
Edie has not listened to what Donald was saying. Her only thought was to get out there. The song that was playing in the coffee shop came to an end. She remembered the words vividly, "If it was worthy of remembering the love of the past, don’t forgive each other too quickly. Who is willing to be like this doesn’t owe each other and doesn’t care. We have to owe each other. We have to be in contact."
The lyrics had entered his ears and hit his heart. It made him stop, and he was standing there motionless. He put his hand on his face covering his eyebrows, and nobody could see the expression on his face.
Edie ran out of the coffee shop and ran into a bathroom of another building and locked the door. She didn’t know how she escaped his hold but sighed in relief. She could no longer support her body anymore and sat down on the floor.
In this quiet, safe place, Edie could hear her own breathing, which she could not control, letting the tears flow freely. "Why...How can a person change completely? Why do people who once loved her hate her so much now? Why, when she let him go and wanted to live a good life, he still didn’t want to let her go?"
Edie covered her mouth so no one could hear her cry. The other hand held her body up, which was supporting her on the floor. Her nails were deeply embedded in the palm of her hand. She was bleeding, but she did not feel any pain.
"Donald, I pray you never think of me...because I will never forgive you, ever."
Pushing open the door, she seemed to look like a creature walking in the darkness. She squinted as the warm yellow light shined down on her face. She suddenly thought of Donald’s angry words.
"He just didn’t know the truth. If Stuart knew what you used to do, would he still want to marry you?!"
Edie finally arrived at the Villa, trying to act as though nothing happened. For some reason, her fear and terror seemed to worsen as she stepped inside the house. Mr. Sampson discovered her at once and said, "Edie, you finally come back, and your phone was turned off. Stuart was so worried. He had been trying to call you all day."
Mr. Sampson hadn’t finished yet, and Stuart walked out immediately. When he saw Edie, he breathed a sigh of relief, but his tone was still a little cold, "Why are you here so late? Why was your phone turned off?" freewebnσvel.cѳm
Was her phone turned off? Edie looked back at Stuart with a blank stare and said with uncertainty, "It must have no power, I honestly didn’t notice." Stuart was keenly aware that Edie was absent minded and asked immediately, "What happened to you today?"
Edie avoided his eyes and lowered her head, "Nothing, I had to go to the company and talk to Danny." Then she walked past Stuart and tried to go upstairs. Edie had only taken two steps, and Stuart reached out and grabbed her wrist.
The place that Stuart grabbed was the place that Donald had held so tightly today. There was already a bruise, but the sleeves covered it, and it could not be seen. After being arrested by night, she couldn’t help but scream, "It hurts."
After Stuart heard her cry, he took back his hand and frowned. He didn’t use much strength at all. How could it hurt so much? "It hurts?" asked the low voice of the night. Edie reacted at once and tried to move as fast as she could. She was afraid that Stuart had already suspected that something might have happened.
She quickly shook her head and said, "No, no... I was just a little startled." Stuart was staring at her intently, and his dark eyes seemed to have a perceptive insight. Edie felt that under this look, everything was already known to him. So, she felt so worried.
Stuart looked at her for a while, but he said nothing and asked, "Are you hungry?" She didn’t expect that he would change the topic so quickly. Edie didn’t react, and she said, "A little bit." Stuart immediately ordered, "Serve supper."
Then he reached out and took Edie’s hand with gentle force and walked with her to the dining room. Carol’s cooking was still as good as ever. Edie said she was a bit hungry without thinking, but after eating two spoonfuls of soup, her senses seemed to be awakened, and she felt hungrier.
Edie and Stuart were quietly eating their supper. She was afraid that Stuart would ask her more questions, and she said first, "Would you excuse me, I would like to go and take a bath." Stuart did not stop her and let Edie go upstairs.
Edie returned to her room and finally let out a sigh of relief. So many things happened today, and she was exhausted. Both her spirit and her body had received a great impact.
The comfortable water temperature and the fresh, soothing fragrance made Edie unknowingly move her head to the side of the bathtub, and then she fell asleep.
