Chapter 71: Perfect Combo [100 PS Bonus Chapter (3)]
"Are you finally going to see what you got? It’s going to be interesting."
Thyra smiled and crossed her legs.
Nodding, Leon checked the first scroll.
[Ability: Instant Recovery - Restores the user to peak condition by consuming 100 stamina points]
The description was short, but understandable. And it made Leon’s mouth open in shock.
’For real?’
It was too magical. Now, he could understand what brought the wolf back to its peak condition. However, there was a severe flaw to this ability. If it brought a person back to peak condition, the stamina cost was a drawback that could render the person useless again.
Even in peak condition, without stamina, a person wouldn’t be able to last long in that state.
Leon frowned, feeling that there was an inconsistency.
"But the wolf didn’t look tired after using that ability, did it?"
Still frowning, he took a look at the second scroll, feeling like it had the answers to his question.
[Ability: Stamina Regeneration - Consumes 1 Mana point to restore 5 Stamina points]
’This...!’
Leon trembled in excitement, his grip tightening on the scroll. His black eyes shone brightly, and he couldn’t help but grin.
"The perfect combination."
He could really become a monster if he used the two abilities properly. He could use Instant Recovery to recover mana, then using the mana to recover stamina. Then, once he got injured again, he could use Instant Recovery to return to his peak condition, then...
’Goodness... this is a cheat. A real cheat.’
"Looks like you’ve got something really good. I’m impressed," Thyra smiled, though it was obvious that she was itching with curiosity.
Leon’s extraction ability was special, and she wanted to see what abilities he had gotten from the wolf.
Unfortunately, Leon didn’t even consider showing her. He simply learned the two abilities, seeing them disintegrate into ashes.
Suddenly, he was assaulted by a severe headache, and he felt his vision blur.
"W-what’s that?" He stammered.
Still in her seat, Thyra observed him, then said, "Your soul is straining under the weight of your abilities. Usually, there is a limit to how many abilities an unranked entity can have."
Falling onto the bed, Leon closed his eyes and tried to relax. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"How many? I didn’t think there was anything like that."
Thyra nodded. "It’s natural that you don’t know. For unranked entities like you, it’s usually between two to three abilities. Now, you’re carrying more than that. So it’s natural for you to feel slightly disoriented."
"Ugh... this is really annoying." He sighed, feeling the splitting headache ease slightly.
"You should get some sleep. Resting now is the only thing you can use to alleviate the pain," Thyra suggested, leaning against the backrest of the chair.
Leon nodded weakly, then dragged himself into a proper sleeping position.
"Um... goodnight," He said to her, turning over as he prepared to sleep.
"Goodnight, Little Leon. Don’t forget to dream of big sister~"
Leon didn’t bother answering. He simply pretended to be asleep. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find sleep that easily.
Unaware of this, Thyra stood up and walked towards him. She poked his cheek, then smiled.
"I’ll be gone for a while. Don’t miss me too much, okay?"
She gently brushed his silky black hair, then walked towards the wall. She phased through it, and immediately disappeared from the room.
Leon’s brows creased, and he quietly wondered. ’Where is she going? The Demon Galaxy?’
He didn’t know, and he didn’t want to ask. So, he simply stayed on the bed, enduring the headache while trying to fall asleep.
Just as he was feeling sleepy, he heard whispers at his door, and the sound of the door locks being picked.
He didn’t stand up, simply continuing his pretense.
A minute later, the door was opened and three figures walked in.
"Is he asleep?"
He heard Cassie’s voice as she whispered to the other two. He almost frowned, but he kept his expression serene like he was truly asleep.
"I think so," Gwen’s voice was low, and she turned to the last person. "Feline, have you recovered enough mana to use your ability?"
The girl nodded, then carefully walked towards Leon. She sat by the bed, then slowly brought her hands close to his chest.
"Heal," She whispered.
A soft light spilled from her hands, and Leon felt his injuries being healed. Even his forehead which was torn was being knitted back together. In less than a minute, he was completely healed, and her ability deactivated automatically.
"I think he’s fully healed now," She said to the others, earning sighs of relief from them.
"I don’t understand why boss didn’t let us know he was going out." Cassie sighed and complained dejectedly.
Gwen shook her head with a soft smile, "That... I think I understand, but he’s not at fault."
She walked towards him, then placed her hand on his head gently. Her hand lit up with a ghostly green flame, and Leon felt his headache subside greatly. In fact, he could almost say it completely vanished.
’Hm? His soul seemed disturbed. Though, he appears relieved now,’ She noted as she used her ability. After confirming that he was fine now, she stepped back and said to Feline.
"We should go back. We shouldn’t wake him up now."
Cassie nodded, already opening the door.
"You’re right. He must be very tired."
Soon, the three girls left the room, re-locking the door again.
After they had left, Leon finally opened his eyes.
’Those three... shouldn’t they have been sleeping? Huh... they were quite helpful, though.’
He felt thankful that Fel had healed him completely, though it wasn’t really necessary. He believed his natural regeneration could handle it.
However, Gwen’s ability to ease the burden on his soul was what truly surprised him. Only now was he beginning to realize how valuable her ability truly was.
’Hm, I should probably speak to her about it tomorrow. I wish I could have someone like that in my team.’
They were only temporary teammates, and would eventually go their separate ways.
’It doesn’t matter, though.’
He closed his eyes, then quickly fell asleep. It seemed Cassie was right, and he was very tired.
