Chapter 45: Chapter 45: The Standard for a Qualified Wizard

"The racket you’re making can be heard from a hundred meters away."

Selena took a Beast Hide Scroll from her Storage Ring and handed it to Andre.

"You’re the only one in the entire academy who’d dare to test your Power here on the mountain behind the hall. Anyone else would’ve been dragged off by the Law Enforcement Court for punishment by now."

Selena raised her eyebrows after speaking. In any Wizard Academy, those responsible for passing down knowledge and guarding the Truth held a special status.

Radak was one such special figure—a professor of Demon Pattern Study who could, at times, even defy the Dean.

This was the Power of knowledge among Wizards. And as Radak’s only disciple, Andre was bound to inherit Radak’s position in the future.

"My teacher said yesterday that someone would take me to see the vice dean. Don’t tell me it’s you!"

Andre clutched the Beast Hide Scroll, looking at Selena with suspicion. Selena nodded and began to explain.

"My ancestor left the Senbai Wizard World half a month ago for the White Sea Wizard World. He’ll be in meetings there for two to three years."

"A two-to-three-year meeting? What kind of meeting takes that long?"

Andre was stunned as knowledge of the Wizard World flashed through his mind.

"An expedition. Ten years from now, the White Sea Wizard World Group, the neighboring Black Sun Wizard World Group, and the Star Shining Wizard World Group are launching an expedition against a newly discovered World Group."

"In order to carve up that World Group, some things have to be negotiated in advance."

"A single World Group contains anywhere from dozens to over a hundred worlds, and within them, the Level of each world varies."

"So, to divide this new World Group, the fate of every single world within it must be discussed in detail."

"Discussing them one by one just takes a long time."

After explaining Krell’s whereabouts, Selena pointed to the Beast Hide Scroll in Andre’s hand.

"This Beast Hide Scroll... it’s what my ancestor left for me to give to you before he departed."

"So you’re saying I won’t be able to meet the vice dean for another two or three years."

Andre scratched his head, breathing an inward sigh of relief.

"More or less. But my ancestor’s eldest disciple will be teaching in his place!"

Selena nodded, then dropped another piece of unsettling news.

"The eldest disciple... You mean the Head of the Law Enforcement Court!"

Andre’s eyes shot wide, and he stood frozen to the spot.

"Yes, that’s him. The Head of the Law Enforcement Court."

Selena nodded, a sly smile spreading across her face.

After getting Selena’s confirmation, Andre felt like his head was about to explode.

’How did I get saddled with him? The Head of the Law Enforcement Court is an even more imposing figure in the academy than Vice Dean Krell.’

The vice dean usually didn’t handle the academy’s daily affairs, only intervening when its developmental path changed or during major events. Normally, he was incredibly elusive and rarely seen.

But the Head of the Law Enforcement Court was different. He led his teams on patrols throughout the academy every day, looking for anyone who dared to break the academy’s laws.

If anyone was caught, minor offenders would get a beating, while major ones would be thrown into the Law Enforcement Court’s prison to suffer punishment from a Witch Array.

The most severe offenders would be turned directly into subjects for Witchcraft experiments.

It was rumored that more than ten Official Wizards had died at his hands.

’Having someone like that as my teacher... I’d rather have the vice dean.’

’If Vice Dean Krell were my teacher, at least he’d be mindful of his image among the students. Even if he punished me, it wouldn’t be too severe.’

’But if this guy teaches me, we’ll have the relationship of a senior and junior disciple. And a senior disciple will really beat you up.’

"What are you so worried about?"

Selena watched Andre’s expression shift constantly, her own smile growing wider and wider.

"Wait a minute... The person who’s supposed to bring me the Meditation Technique, it’s not you, is it?"

Andre realized something was wrong. He looked at Selena, who had an expression of pure schadenfreude practically written across her face, and knew this wasn’t right.

"The Meditation Technique you gave me... Don’t tell me you snatched it from him?"

Andre suddenly realized the truth.

Selena had come here purely to gloat.

When Andre said this, the smile on Selena’s face froze for a moment before she waved her hand dismissively.

"How could that be? I’m not that kind of person."

But Selena’s darting eyes gave her away.

Andre looked at Selena but didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, he took another Potion from his Storage Ring and downed it to speed up the recovery of his Spiritual Power.

Just as Andre was downing the Potion, a figure appeared out of thin air, looking at Selena with a thunderous expression.

"Oops, he’s here. I’m leaving!"

Upon seeing the figure, Selena turned and fled.

Andre got to his feet as well, looking at the Head of the Law Enforcement Court, Farrete.

Seeing Selena leave, Farrete breathed a sigh of relief. ’That little menace is finally gone,’ he thought.

Selena was the teacher’s descendant and possessed great Talent. She had spent years by the teacher’s side and saw Farrete often. As a result, she had no fear of him as the Head of the Law Enforcement Hall and frequently played pranks on him.

"Andre!" Farrete threw back his hood, his expression complicated as he looked at Andre.

He had thought his master would take no more disciples. He never expected that half a month ago, his master would suddenly send word, instructing him to teach Andre, this final disciple.

"Head!" Andre said, looking at Farrete seriously.

"From now on, I am your senior disciple. There’s no need to call me Head. As per our master’s request, I will teach you combat techniques and Abilities." ƒгeewebnovёl.com

"However, I’m going to test you. What is the standard for a qualified Wizard?"

"A standard? Do Wizards even have one?"

Andre was taken aback. Seeing his reaction, Farrete shook his head. ’Another flower raised in a greenhouse.’

"For a Wizard, the standard for being qualified is greed and ruthlessness."

Farrete decided it was time to teach Andre a proper lesson and reshape his very heart as a Wizard.

"Greed and ruthlessness?" Andre was dumbfounded. Completely dumbfounded. ’What is Farrete talking about? This doesn’t feel right at all.’

"If Wizards weren’t greedy, they wouldn’t pursue Truth. Without greed, they wouldn’t research things that increase their Power, like Witchcraft, Magic Potions, and Witchcraft Artifacts. Everything is done for the sake of Truth."

Farrete began his lecture, looking at Andre. But it was from a perspective so peculiar that Andre had never encountered anything like it before.

"Ruthlessness is divided into two parts. The first is being ruthless with yourself. In their pursuit of Truth, Wizards perform extensive modifications on their own bodies to make it easier to perceive Truth."

"The other part is being ruthless toward other races. If another race can access the Truth, a Wizard will seize their methods and transplant them into their own body. You have already taken the first step. Very good."

As Farrete spoke, he glanced at Andre’s chest and nodded.
