Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Enemy
"Lord Wizard, may I ask what exactly my Talent Witchcraft is?"
Andre tilted his head back, struggling to hold back his tears. Once he had them under control, Andre humbly asked Wizard Bai En and Huo Lin to explain what Talent Witchcraft was.
"Talent Witchcraft goes by different names in different worlds and civilizations. In a Divine World, it’s called Talent Divine Art, and those who have it are considered reserves for Divine Spirits. Other worlds have their own terms, which I won’t get into. All I can say is, you’re incredibly lucky."
"Pupil Technique Witchcraft has always been one of the most coveted forms of Witchcraft in the Wizard World. This is because Wizards are seekers of Truth, and we must use our own bodies to perceive its existence. The eyes are the most direct way to perceive Truth. As long as you don’t do anything foolish, becoming a Wizard will be no problem for you."
"But I must remind you, the world doesn’t just have White Wizards like us. There are Black Wizards, too."
"When a Black Wizard’s own Talent is insufficient for them to continue climbing the Ladder of Truth, they often resort to other methods to continue their pursuit."
"This has led to the birth of several unique schools among Black Wizards, the Flesh and Blood School being one of them. They transplant the organs of Wizards with Talent Witchcraft onto themselves in their own pursuit of Truth. You’d best protect that pair of eyes of yours!"
Wizard Bai En chuckled as he answered Andre’s question, but all Andre could feel was a wave of malice washing over him.
"Alright, that’s enough. Stop trying to scare him. While it’s true the Flesh and Blood School can steal the organs of others to build their own Ladder of Truth, Talent Witchcraft is usually bound to the Soul. To fuse with another person’s Talent Witchcraft, you’d need the power of the Soul School and a Morning Star Great Wizard."
"Here in the Senbai Wizard World, the most accomplished practitioner of the Soul School is only a Level 2 Wizard. They’re incapable of stripping you of your Talent Witchcraft."
Seeing Andre break out in a cold sweat from Wizard Bai En’s scare tactics, Huo Lin smiled and revealed the truth: that it was impossible to have his Talent Witchcraft stolen in the Senbai Wizard World.
Hearing that his Talent could not be stolen, Andre breathed a sigh of relief. He accepted a handkerchief from Rui Qi, wiped the cold sweat from his brow, and walked over to join Victoria and the others.
"You young ones think a little Talent gives you the right to be arrogant. But you have no idea how arduous the journey is for us Wizards on the Path of Truth."
"More than half of my contemporaries who possessed a Fifth Level Spiritual Talent—a Talent superior to my own—died on the path of pursuing Truth due to arrogance and complacency."
Watching Andre wipe away his cold sweat, Wizard Bai En’s smile faded. He began to solemnly lecture the new blood of the Wizard World.
Wizards are beings who seek Truth, and the process of seeking Truth is fraught with peril.
If the White Sea Wizard World Group—to which the Senbai Wizard World belongs—wasn’t launching a grand expedition against other worlds in ten years, he wouldn’t have bothered warning these fledgling Wizards by making an example of Andre.
’I wonder how many of these fledglings will be able to join the expedition. An expedition is a chance for Wizards to find Truth, but it is also their grave.’
Wizard Bai En reined in his thoughts and called for Yian, the person behind Andre, to come forward for his Talent test.
Andre, however, was completely lost in thought.
’Wizards of the Flesh and Blood School... the enemies who killed my ancestors.’
The cold sweat on his forehead wasn’t because Wizard Bai En had said his Talent Witchcraft could be stolen. It was because of the Wizards of the Flesh and Blood School.
Just now, when he heard the phrase "Wizards of the Flesh and Blood School," the Chain of Hatred that had sealed his Bloodline’s inherited knowledge suddenly loosened, allowing a sliver of that knowledge to flow into his mind.
Through this new knowledge, Andre learned that two of the three Level 6 Great Wizards who had murdered his ancestor were Great Wizards from the Flesh and Blood School.
’The Flesh and Blood School is one of the Wizard Schools in Wizard Civilization that initiates the most cross-world invasions.’
’In their pursuit of Truth, they continuously slaughter the civilizations of one world after another. They drag the Divine Spirits and unique races to their laboratory tables for the most thorough analysis and dissection, all to study what makes them special.’
’They focus especially on Divine Spirits and races favored by their worlds. In the eyes of Flesh and Blood School Wizards, these beings are incarnations of the world itself. Studying them allows one to glimpse the world’s deepest Truths.’
Through this inherited Bloodline knowledge, Andre finally understood why his ancestor had been besieged by three Great Wizards.
So, the three Great Wizards had used his ancestor as a stepping stone on their Path of Truth.
’Until I become a Great Wizard, the secret of my being a Divine Descendant must never be revealed.’
’Although my Bloodline is extremely diluted, I am still perfect material for a Low Level Wizard of the Flesh and Blood School. In fact, I might be the most perfect material there is.’
Andre’s gaze grew resolute. With his life on the line, he had to be cautious.
As Andre’s resolve hardened, Huo Lin turned her head and glanced at him.
’Hm? His mental state has shifted. I wonder how long he can keep it up.’
Huo Lin looked away after a single glance. She had seen such changes of heart far too many times. Most of these transformations lasted a day or two at best before the person reverted to their old self.
This was the nature of the mind. It was the most difficult thing to fathom, the quickest to change, and the hardest to make steadfast.
"Energy School! It’s the Energy School!"
One by one, the new blood passed through the test, their Talents revealed. As the second-to-last person was being tested, another strange phenomenon occurred.
When the new phenomenon appeared, smiles immediately blossomed on the faces of Huo Lin and Wizard Bai En. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
To have found two people with Talent Witchcraft in a single test was a huge windfall for them.
But as the phenomenon fully manifested, the smiles vanished from their faces, replaced by a calm, almost indescribable expression.
"What happened?" Andre asked Victoria and Rui Qi.
Victoria’s expression had also flickered a moment ago. freewebnøvel.coɱ
"This person does have a Talent Witchcraft, that’s true, but it’s not like your Eye of Truth. Your Eye of Truth is a Level 2 Witchcraft, whereas his is a Level 0 Witchcraft."
"Level 0 Witchcraft?"
Andre was stunned. According to the knowledge inherited from his Bloodline, Level 0 Witchcraft was something any Wizard Apprentice could master!
"Yes. In fact, it’s one of the lowest of the Level 0 Witchcrafts: Mudstone Bomb. However, it does have an advanced version, the Level 1 Witchcraft, Stone-Throwing Skill!"
Victoria nodded, revealing the name of the Witchcraft.
