Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Earth Elemental Bear
’Right now, unable to construct a Magic Heart, the only tool I have is Demon Patterns. Demon Patterns are the foundation of Witchcraft. Can I combine them to cast some form of Witchcraft?’
Andre picked up his pen and began to draw on a piece of scrap paper the seven Demon Patterns he had completely mastered. After he finished, the drawings were so perfect that Magic Power from the air began to pour into the paper.
But the scrap paper was extremely fragile, and just a moment later, it exploded, unable to bear the Magic Power.
"Are you researching Witchcraft Scrolls?"
Radak’s figure appeared at Andre’s doorway. Looking at the exploded scrap paper, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.
’How long has it been? Andre is already getting involved with Witchcraft Scrolls.’
"Witchcraft Scrolls?" Andre scratched his head and looked at Radak.
"Teacher, do you mean the kind of Witchcraft Scrolls that can seal Witchcraft inside them?"
After Andre finished speaking, Radak nodded.
"But why would you use scrap paper as the medium for a Scroll? It’s extremely fragile, so much so that it can’t withstand even a shred of Magic Power."
Faced with Radak’s question, Andre opened his mouth but didn’t say anything.
"However, your line of thinking is correct, because Witchcraft Scrolls were developed from the foundation of Demon Pattern Study. But I suggest you stop this research."
Radak first praised Andre, only to immediately discourage him.
"Why, Teacher?"
Andre blinked, not quite understanding Radak’s meaning.
"The reason is simple. Witchcraft Scrolls have too many drawbacks. They’re very expensive to make, extremely fragile and difficult to preserve, and can only be used once. Moreover, the materials needed for more advanced Wizard Scrolls are even more costly."
"With some advanced materials, the ingredients for a single Witchcraft Scroll could be used to create several Potions or even a few Witchcraft Artifacts. Given this disparity in value, it’s only natural that fewer and fewer people research Witchcraft Scrolls."
Radak looked at Andre and regretfully explained the disadvantages of Witchcraft Scrolls.
As a master of Demon Pattern Study, Radak knew very well how the art of Wizard Scrolls had risen and subsequently declined.
"That’s not right, is it, Teacher? I remember Witchcraft Scrolls are quite popular among Wizard Apprentices, aren’t they?"
Andre offered a different opinion.
"Correct, they are very popular among Wizard Apprentices. That’s because the cost of the Witchcraft Scrolls they use is still acceptable."
"The paper only needs to be the most common Curse Paper, and the ink used to create the Witchcraft can be made by mixing the Magical Beast Blood from a Wizard Apprentice-level beast with other ingredients."
"This type of Witchcraft Scroll is suitable for a Wizard Apprentice to use to save their life, so they’re fine in that respect. But the higher up you go, the more expensive it becomes to create Wizard Scrolls."
After speaking, Radak sighed. He waved his hand, and several boxes materialized from thin air, landing on Andre’s bed. freewёbnoνel.com
"If you want to research Witchcraft Scrolls, I won’t stop you. These boxes contain my knowledge and studies on the subject, along with some materials for making them. You can try to make a few."
"Also, are you preparing to construct a Magic Organ?"
Radak looked at the book on Andre’s desk, another flash of surprise in his eyes.
’For a newcomer like Andre, who has just stepped into the Elementary Wizard Apprentice Realm, the main task should be to continuously practice his Meditation Technique and construct his own Spirit Rune in his mind. The accumulation of Magic Power should be a secondary concern.’
"Yes. I plan to choose the Magic Heart as my first Magic Organ."
Andre nodded, stating his intention.
"A Magic Heart... that’s going to cost a lot of Magic Stones."
Hearing Andre’s choice, Radak was inwardly surprised. Even he himself had chosen the Magic Vortex back in the day, not the Magic Heart.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford it; he was worried that an error during the fusion of the Magic Heart with his own heart would lead to his death.
He hadn’t expected this apprentice of his to be so audacious, deliberately choosing such an arduous and thankless task. But as his teacher, he had to give what support he could.
After all, Andre was the only apprentice he’d had in his entire life. If an accident were to happen because of substandard materials, he didn’t know how long he would have to wait to find another.
"Since you’ve chosen the Magic Heart as your first Magic Organ, I have an Earth Elemental Bear’s Heart here. It can serve as the main ingredient, but you’ll have to find a way to get the rest yourself."
Radak flipped his palm over, and a huge Crystal appeared in his hand. A heart was sealed inside it.
At that moment, the heart was still beating faintly inside the Crystal.
"Teacher, this is too valuable!"
Andre’s eyes widened as he stared at the Earth Elemental Bear’s Heart in Radak’s hand.
’According to the books, besides Giant Dragons and Giants, the Earth Elemental Bear is one of the most powerful materials for creating the Magic Heart Potion. It’s also a Magical Beast whose combat power is comparable to an Official Wizard’s from the moment of its birth.’ freeweɓnøvel.com
’Furthermore, after a Potion is made from the Earth Elemental Heart, its consumer might even obtain the Earth Elemental Bear’s Talent Witchcraft.’
’Therefore, the price for an Earth Elemental Bear’s Heart in the Wizard World was exorbitant, in no way inferior to the price of a Giant Dragon’s or Giant’s heart.’
"This was a gift from someone, in exchange for me solving a problem with their body."
Radak, however, appeared nonchalant, as if the priceless Earth Elemental Bear’s Heart in his hand was no more than dirt to him.
"But if you want to get this heart from me, you must first gather all the other materials. Only then can I give it to you. Otherwise, if news that you possess this heart gets out, you will attract endless trouble."
After speaking, Radak flipped his palm over and put the Earth Elemental Bear’s Heart away.
"I understand, Teacher." Andre nodded. He understood the principle that possessing a treasure invites ruin.
"Good. Cultivate well. Right now, your Meditation Technique is your foundation!"
After saying this, Radak once again disappeared from before Andre.
’The Earth Elemental Bear’s Heart... I have the main ingredient, so now it’s just the supplementary materials. Elemental Energy Crystal, Gradual Silver Needle, Azure Stone...’
Andre sat down and looked at the materials required for the Magic Heart Potion. All in all, there were surprisingly more than thirty different kinds.
’Some of these materials can be obtained within the academy. For the rest, I’ll have to wait until I can search for them in a Secret Realm.’
Andre closed the book, placed the ones he didn’t need back on the shelf, then turned and left the Wizard Inheritance Hall. He set off for the Task Hall to search for quests that would help him find these materials.
