Chapter 1: Chapter 1: New Blood

The Senbai Wizard World, Qianyuan Subcontinent, Qianyuan City.

White Sea Wizard Calendar, Year 6380.

Qianyuan City, normally quiet and peaceful, was bustling today. It was the most important day of the five-year cycle in the Senbai Wizard World: the selection for new Wizards.

As dawn broke, groups of youths were brought by nobles from all corners of the land to Qianyuan City to participate in the quinquennial Wizard Talent assessment.

The ceaseless chatter among the youths gave the nobles a headache. They feared these naive youngsters would run amok and offend the visiting Lord Wizard from the White Mountain Continent.

If that happened, they would be the ones to suffer the consequences.

As the nobles struggled to control the youths, a group of figures appeared on the city wall. Their attire was peculiar, yet they exuded an air of authority as they looked down upon the youths gathered for the test.

"His Majesty the King, we can begin now!"

Huo Lin, the High Level Apprentice in charge of the selection, addressed the King of Qianyuan—the Level 1 Wizard who ruled the Qianyuan Subcontinent.

"Then let us begin. I hope a few promising prospects emerge this time. That way, I can finally return to the Wizard World."

The King of Qianyuan, a sturdy, middle-aged man, remarked as he surveyed the lively scene before him.

"I trust that day is not far off," Huo Lin said, offering a compliment to the King of Qianyuan.

"There’s no need for such words. The only reason I wish to return to the Wizard World is to acquire resources for my descendants."

The King of Qianyuan’s words held a hint of melancholy. A Wizard like him, ruling over an entire Subcontinent, might seem glorious, but in truth, they were exiles.

Their Talent had peaked after they became Level 1 Wizards, leaving them unable to continue their climb toward Truth.

And the very existence of a Wizard was defined by the pursuit of worldly Truth!

For the sake of Truth, Wizards would dare anything: hunting Giant Dragons, capturing Divine Spirits for enslavement, slaughtering countless races, and invading other worlds, all to find the next step on the path to Truth.

This very Senbai Wizard World was a Level 3 Wizard World that had been conquered by the Wizards just three thousand years ago.

The Wizards had systematically killed, imprisoned, or enslaved every Divine Spirit in the Senbai World. They had also transferred large numbers of Wizards like the King of Qianyuan—those with no hope of advancement—from other Wizard Worlds to suppress the resistance of the Senbai World’s consciousness.

Suppressing a world’s consciousness came at a great cost. Yet, to ensure their family lines continued and to avoid being swallowed up by other Wizard Clans, many Wizards were still willing to take on this task.

The King of Qianyuan was one such Wizard.

Seeing the dejected look on the King of Qianyuan’s face, Huo Lin sighed inwardly. ’Wizards pursue Truth, but Truth requires all of creation to serve as its stepping stones.’

’With my own Talent, I’ll most likely end up at the same level as the King of Qianyuan.’

Huo Lin rose and walked to the edge of the wall. Looking down at the youths who had gathered from all over the Qianyuan Subcontinent, she cleared her throat and spoke.

"Quiet!"

Huo Lin’s voice wasn’t loud, yet the youths instantly fell silent and obediently formed lines. Seeing them quiet down, Huo Lin nodded in satisfaction.

"Very good. You all know why you’re here today. This is the one chance in your lifetime to change your destiny. Succeed, and you can become nobles. Even if you fail, those who meet the basic requirements will become freemen. Let’s begin."

With just a few short sentences, Huo Lin had made the stakes of the test crystal clear, and the youths realized what they were about to face.

"Kern Territory, Sen Stone Territory, over here."

"White Flower Territory, Black Mountain Territory, over here."

The Wizard Apprentices who had arrived with Huo Lin in Qianyuan City got to work, directing the youths to come forward one by one according to their territory to have their Talent tested.

"Level 1... Level 1... Level 2... Level 1..."

Each announcement determined the fate of a youth.

"Rick, do you think we’ll pass?"

Within the line for Juenen Territory, a pair of brothers shuffled forward. The younger one’s breath quickened as he stared at the approaching Test Stone Pillar.

"We should be fine. Lian, don’t be nervous."

The older brother comforted the younger one. Behind them, a dark-haired youth silently followed along.

’The new Wizard selection... I wonder if I can get through it without being discovered!’

The youth struggled to suppress his inner turmoil. His breathing grew more ragged as he watched the Test Stone Pillar draw nearer.

The youth’s name was Andre, and he was a Transmigrator. He had woken up one day to find he had been transported to a world that resembled medieval times.

At first, Andre had been panicked. He had suddenly transmigrated, facing issues of memory and language, and was terrified the original owner’s parents would realize their son had been replaced.

Fortunately, not long after waking up, he had smoothly inherited all of the original owner’s memories and abilities.

The original Andre came from a freeman’s family in Juenen Territory. His father was a merchant and his mother was a weaver, which was undoubtedly a fortunate start.

After growing accustomed to his new body, Andre had assumed his second life would be a simple one: grow up, take over the family business, marry, have children, and live out his days in peace.

But he hadn’t expected that, not long after his arrival, the lord’s soldiers would show up at his door and bring him here.

On the way, he vaguely overheard the lord’s daughter mention that they were being taken to Qianyuan City to participate in the great Wizard qualification test.

Upon learning about Wizards, Andre had assumed they were like the witches from medieval European stories.

But what Andre never expected was that the moment he heard the word "Wizard," a power originating from his ancestors awakened within his body. It was a feeling of hatred—an overwhelming, monstrous hatred for all Wizards.

It was then that Andre learned from the knowledge inherited through his Bloodline that he was, in fact, a descendant of the Supreme God, one of the All Gods of the Senbai World.

Unfortunately, this Supreme God ancestor had been killed three thousand years ago by three Level 6 Great Wizards who crossed over from the Star Realm. All of his direct descendants had been annihilated, their Bloodline Power drained completely. freewebnøvel.coɱ

As a result, he, who should have been a member of a Divine Descendant Clan, was reduced to a mere mortal.

He had been depressed about this for two days. He’d learned from the inherited knowledge that awakening his Bloodline would have granted him a lifespan of three hundred years.

If his Divine Blood had been rich enough to form Divine Patterns, he would have even been granted an audience with his Supreme God ancestor. But now, all of that was just an empty dream.

Thinking of this, Andre’s tense heart unexpectedly relaxed a little.

’I don’t know how this Bloodline was passed down to me, but the most important thing right now is to not get discovered. Otherwise, I’ll end up just like my ancestors three thousand years ago, having my Bloodline drained from my body.’

Andre stared at the Test Stone Pillar, steadily regulating his breath. He gave himself a mental pep talk, convincing himself not to show any sign of abnormality.

’Otherwise, I could very well become a research subject for these Wizards in their pursuit of Truth.’

"Next."

Just as Andre’s nerves were about to break, he realized only Lian was left in front of him. The older brother, Rick, had passed with a Third Level Spiritual Power Talent. Now it was Lian’s turn, and Andre was next.

’Life or death, it all comes down to this.’

Andre swallowed nervously, a reaction that was perfectly normal in the eyes of the Wizard Apprentice conducting the test.

"Third Level. Go over there."

After seeing the glow from the Test Stone Pillar, the Wizard Apprentice pointed Lian to the side. Lian blinked, only then realizing he had passed.

His Talent was the same as his brother’s—Third Level Spiritual Power. Lian immediately ran to his brother’s side.

Now it was Andre’s turn. He placed his hand on the pillar, his whole body trembling. Instantly, a dazzling light erupted from it.

"Fifth Level... no, it’s the Fourth Level Limit. It’s touching the cusp of Fifth Level. Ma’am, what level should I record?"

The testing Wizard Apprentice was unsure as he looked at the light on the Test Stone Pillar. Andre’s glow looked like Fifth Level, but it hadn’t quite reached the standard.

The Wizard Apprentice turned to look at Huo Lin on the city wall, seeking her judgment.

"Let’s just mark it as Fifth Level. With Talent like that, a small dose of Talent Base Potion will be enough to push him to the full Fifth Level."

Huo Lin hadn’t even spoken before the King of Qianyuan’s voice rang out.

"Alright. Go and sit by the city gate."

The testing apprentice gave Andre a smile. With Fifth Level Spiritual Power Talent, becoming a High Level Apprentice like Huo Lin was a foregone conclusion.

Whether he could become a full-fledged Wizard, however, would depend on the choices Andre made as he grew. frёewebηovel.cѳm

PHEW... PHEW...

Seeing that the Test Stone Pillar hadn’t detected his Bloodline, Andre quickly ran toward the city gate.

Two others were already standing there: a descendant of the King of Qianyuan, and the daughter of a noble.

"Hello, freeman. I’m Rui Qi. Fourth Level Talent."

The noble’s daughter, Rui Qi, nodded at Andre’s simple clothes and extended her hand toward him.

Andre reached out, shook her hand briefly, and immediately let go.

"Andre. Fifth Level Talent."

"Fifth Level Talent? You have Fifth Level Talent!"

Rui Qi’s eyes widened when she heard Andre’s words, and she whipped her head around to look at the descendant of the King of Qianyuan standing beside them.

"Hello. I’m Victoria. Fifth Level Talent."

When Victoria heard Andre also had Fifth Level Talent, her icy expression instantly melted away, replaced by a warm, welcoming smile. She took the initiative to shake Andre’s hand.

"Hello, Your Highness."

Seeing Victoria’s friendly gesture, the nervous Andre subconsciously used the formal address. When Victoria heard the words "Your Highness," her smile became so wide her eyes nearly disappeared.

"Victoria!"

Rui Qi shot Victoria a look and cleared her throat twice. Victoria instantly reverted to her previous ice-queen demeanor.

’I wonder if there will be any more with Fifth Level,’

Andre watched Victoria’s rapid change of face, then awkwardly turned away to look at the dispersing crowd, his mind racing.

’The reason Victoria and Rui Qi, two descendants of nobles, are being so friendly to me... it’s undoubtedly because of my Fifth Level Spiritual Power Talent.’
