Chapter 1213: Chapter 1213: How Could He Be So Heartless!
The driver froze for a moment, looked her over in surprise, stayed silent for a few seconds, then slowly said, "Miss, Sir is at least a celebrity in A Country. When he got married, it was in the news. You can check it. I wouldn’t dare lie to you."
A towering rage surged in her chest, boiling over.
Scarlett could hardly believe that Noah would actually remarry in the same year Autumn Spencer died.
Was he really that impatient? He couldn’t even wait a single year.
Didn’t he say he loved Mom so much? Then how could he turn around and marry another woman, make her his wife, and even have children with her?
Could it be that all that so‑called love between him and Mom back then was fake?
How could he be so heartless!
How could he repay a woman who literally gave her life for him in this way?
"Miss, are you okay?" Seeing that Scarlett didn’t look right, the driver thought of Noah’s repeated instructions and stared at her nervously.
Right now, this Miss Yates was Sir’s precious daughter. Sir had emphasized again and again that she must be watched carefully and that nothing could go wrong. If something happened to her on his watch, how was he supposed to report back?
Scarlett bit down hard on her lip, let go of the car door handle, closed her eyes to hide the fury burning in them, and shook her head. "I’m fine."
So in the end, power really is what matters most?
So what if you were madly in love before, so what if you once promised to grow old together—when it’s time to change, you just change.
This cliché story of a lovesick woman and a faithless man was something she’d thought would never happen in her own family.
A man who loved his wife and daughter so much that everyone on the street knew it, a man once privately voted as a model husband, had still turned into a heartless bastard.
A deep, bitter sadness and disappointment surged up inside her. Scarlett really wanted to rush back right now and demand to know why Noah had done this.
Did he ever truly love that woman named Autumn Spencer at all?
The driver studied her, still a bit uneasy. "Miss Yates, you don’t look very well. How about letting the doctor check you over later?"
"I really am fine, just a bit carsick." Scarlett drew in a deep breath, forced a small smile to the corners of her lips, then deliberately rubbed her chest as if to smooth her breathing. "I feel much better now. No need to see a doctor."
Carsick?
The driver couldn’t help finding that a bit funny.
Sitting in a car as roomy and comfortable as a Rolls‑Royce, and she still got carsick.
If it was just carsickness, then he didn’t have much to worry about.
So the driver nodded as well. "Alright. But if you still feel unwell later, you mustn’t force yourself."
Scarlett nodded and curved her lips into another smile. Her face was so pale that even her smile looked a little weak. "Thank you for your concern, Uncle Marshall."
The driver seemed slightly surprised and stared blankly for a second or two before smiling back. "No need to be so polite, Miss."
This Miss Yates seemed to be very well‑mannered. Just for that, she was already better than the Young Master and the other Miss.
Those two in the back were spoiled rotten, arrogant and willful to the extreme, acting every bit the lordly Young Master and pampered Miss. They would never bother to say thank you to the staff below.

Outside the hospital room.
Scarlett stood in the long corridor. Aside from her and Uncle Marshall, there wasn’t a single other person outside the door.
On this point, Scarlett was a little surprised.
She had thought Noah would at least station a couple of people here to keep watch, in case Matthew Saxon woke up and left on his own. But when she came upstairs, the whole hallway was completely empty. There was none of the tight security she’d imagined.
