Chapter 329: Chapter 328: Robbery at the Gold Shop, Over Before It Began

Although Bai Ke’s bluntness had made things a bit awkward, her identity also sparked a conversation that diffused the tension.

Gu Zhao continued to give everyone a tour, during which disciples like He Cailian, Chen Zhi, and Xu Sirou were introduced and exchanged greetings.

Finally, after introducing Bai Fei and Zhuo Qingyan, Gu Zhao and the many old Taoists held a welcome banquet in Bai Fei’s honor.

...

For the next few days, Bai Fei stayed at Daluo Palace. She spent her time either admiring the scenery and experiencing the local culture, or discussing profound truths and debating the Dao with Gu Zhao and the other old Taoists.

They didn’t share any specific Cultivation Techniques, only their insights and experiences, but even so, everyone benefited immensely.

The old Taoists possessed Taoist Profound Skills with profound concepts and lofty realms. Their Dharma Gates all followed the Natural Daoist Law and led directly to the level of Celestial Immortals. But since they had been in this world for less than two years, their cultivation experience could only be described as nascent.

Discussing things with the White Spirit Mountain Master, who had several thousand years of Dao Practice, was far more effective than their conversations with Purple Cloud Monarch and Lu Zhengtang. By drawing parallels, they felt a sense of sudden enlightenment regarding many of their questions.

In just a few days, all the old Taoists made progress to varying degrees. Their foundations became more stable, and their cultivation accelerated.

But as much as the old Taoists had gained, Bai Fei’s harvest was even greater.

Taoist Skills are, by their nature, Dharma Gates that model themselves on heaven, earth, and the natural world, bringing one closer to the Dao. When Bai Fei discussed these profound principles with the old Taoists, a few short sentences, though exceptionally abstruse, could feel like they were opening a door to a new world for her.

If Bai Fei helped the old Taoists resolve detailed points of confusion and solidify their cultivation foundations, then the old Taoists, in turn, helped raise the upper limit of her cultivation, increasing her otherwise very slim hopes of Ascension.

And so, at the end of each of their debates, they would respectfully bow to one another, thanking the other party for their selfless sharing.

"No wonder you broke through to the five-hundred-year Dao Practice Realm after just a few days on Cuiluo Mountain," Bai Fei said to Li Qingshuang. "The cultivation philosophy of this Daluo Palace leads directly to the Great Dao. It’s truly remarkable."

Li Qingshuang looked a little awkward. Her breakthrough back then hadn’t come from listening to the Dharma Gates of Daluo Palace.

"Hm?" Bai Fei noticed Li Qingshuang’s awkwardness. She also saw the glistening moisture in her eyes and the blush on her face, and it was easy to guess what she had just been doing.

"The coupling of Yin and Yang is the natural way of procreation, it’s perfectly human." Bai Fei shook her head and chuckled, offering some advice. "But we Cultivators are not ordinary mortals. We cannot indulge in such things. You must exercise restraint so it doesn’t hinder your cultivation."

Li Qingshuang couldn’t help but smile and confess, "You’ve misunderstood, sister. Brother Gu has a Dual Cultivation Technique. It’s not Absorbing Yin and Nourishing Yang, but a Dharma Gate where Yin and Yang flow between us, mutually beneficial. In addition to the pleasure, it also helps our cultivation. In fact, it provides a major boost."

"My Cultivation breakthrough was thanks to Brother Gu helping me with this very Dharma Gate," Li Qingshuang added.

Bai Fei: ???

Bai Fei couldn’t help but look toward the main courtyard of Daluo Palace. She saw the many-tiered halls wreathed in Incense. In the gently curling smoke, it was as if deities themselves were standing tall within.

’How can Daluo Palace have so many different Cultivation Techniques? Just how many legacies did they inherit?’

Even Bai Fei, an old Demon who had cultivated for hundreds of years, was utterly bewildered at this moment. ’Or should I say, just how favored is this "good brother" by the Spirit Realm Upper Gods?’

...

While Gu Zhao was hosting Bai Fei at Daluo Palace, Xiao Ya and Jiang Shishi ran into a bit of trouble abroad—and not just the two of them, but several members of their traditional music troupe.

The traditional music troupe had been touring Southeast Asia and had just finished the last show of their tour in Lü Zon. The troupe gave them a day off to stroll around the Lü Zon Capital and do some shopping.

Someone in the troupe invited Xiao Ya and Jiang Shishi to go shopping with them. Not wanting to be stand-offish, they agreed, forming a group of seven or eight girls and four or five guys. In total, a party of twelve or thirteen set out together.

That way, it was both lively and safe, so even the people secretly protecting the two women weren’t worried.

And then, there was an incident.

Who the fuck would have thought there would be armed robbers holding up a gold shop in broad daylight in a nation’s capital!

One of the older guys in the group said gold was cheaper abroad than back home and wanted to buy a gold bracelet for his wife as a wedding anniversary gift. He invited the girls to help him pick one out, so the entire group enthusiastically poured into a gold shop.

Just as they were excitedly chattering and debating, a van that looked like it had changed hands countless times stopped in front of the gold shop. Four masked, armed robbers jumped out and stormed inside.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The sound of gunshots echoed. The moment the robbers entered the gold shop, they fired several shots at the ceiling as a warning, which, as expected, triggered a wave of screams and chaos.

"Holy shit!"

Across the street, Ding Kai, who had been trailing the group and having a smoke, threw his cigarette to the ground. Liu Xiaoyu beside him also swore, looking at his partner. "What do we do?"

"Save them! What else can we do?" Ding Kai strode toward the other side of the street.

"But that’ll blow our cover," Liu Xiaoyu argued. "The criminals are here to rob the gold, they haven’t hurt anyone. Besides, the girls are wearing their Golden Gang Bracelets."

"But they’re scared, and our first responsibility is to protect them." Ding Kai didn’t hesitate for a second. He bounded across the street and, to the utter bewilderment of the masked driver in the van, charged into the gold shop.

Inside the gold shop, the members of the traditional music troupe were naturally terrified.

They were from a generation born during a peaceful era back home, and most of them were from major cities. They had never experienced a situation like this. One by one, they cowered to the side, covering their heads in fear. Even Xiao Ya and Jiang Shishi were no exception.

Although they knew Gu Zhao possessed Extraordinary powers and that the Magical Treasures he had given them were very powerful—able to counter Evil Skills and even protect them from car accidents—this was a modern, technological society. ’Who knows if they can stop bullets!’

"Get all the gold out!" one man shouted.

"Everyone get down on the side! Or we’ll kill you!" another shouted.

"Boss, should we take a hostage?" the third man asked, looking at the fourth.

The fourth man instinctively glanced at the largest group of people, the music troupe members. His gaze met the eyes of Xiao Ya and Jiang Shishi, and his own eyes lit up. He said at once, "Her—"

But before the word was fully out of his mouth, two men burst into the gold shop and charged straight for them.

"Who are you?"

"Plainclothes security?"

The four men’s faces fell. They instinctively raised their long guns and opened fire on the two men.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

RAT-TAT-TAT!

The bullets hit the two men but appeared to inflict no damage. Then, the robbers watched as the two men advanced right through the fire from four assault rifles and closed the distance.

Snatching the guns, firing back to kill them—the movements were swift and sharp, all done in one fluid motion, just like something out of a movie.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

After four shots rang out, the customers in the gold shop discovered that the two men had killed all four of the robbers!

After finishing the job, the two men didn’t linger. They turned and left immediately, grabbing a gun on their way out. As they exited, they shot the driver in the van, taking out the final accomplice.

Then they dropped the gun and quickly disappeared into the crowd.

Everyone: "..."

It all happened in the blink of an eye. Neither the shop’s employees nor its customers had time to react before it was all over.

Only Xiao Ya and Jiang Shishi exchanged a look.

"Did they just glance at us?"

"One of them even gave a nod."

"Do they know us?"

"They weren’t afraid of bullets."

The two women conversed in hushed tones, instinctively glancing at the Purple Sandalwood Bracelets on their wrists. "It couldn’t be..."
