Chapter 834: Chapter 807: The Golden Duo

Black Garden, Field Spell.

Simply put, in this field all monsters summoned by both sides will have their Attack Power halved. And each time a monster is summoned, an 800 Attack Power "Rose Derivative" will automatically generate on the opponent duelist’s field.

The second effect is to destroy all Plant Race monsters on your own field, and revive from the graveyard the Plant Race with a combined Attack Power equal to the destroyed monsters onto the field.

Since this card is used by Akiza Izinski, the heroine of the third generation anime 5DS, Yugen initially thought it should belong to the next generation of cards.

However, upon reflection, 5DS does indeed share the same universe as GX, with many old cards still being used in the future.

Though it’s set to happen decades after GX, 5DS features characters like Senior Ushio, who span across generations of Yu-Gi-Oh!. Senior Ushio was the early DM manga’s school discipline committee member with Yugi, once bullied Joey, extorted Muto Yuugi, and was later punished by Ousama’s Dark Game.

In 5DS, this former Senior has become a security officer, specializing in using Riding Duels to catch criminals.

The timeline from Yu-Gi-Oh! DM to GX spans about ten years, so if there are several more decades to 5DS, Senior Ushio should be quite elderly and cannot be a lively character in the plot. If he serves as a reference point, it’s impossible for too much time to have passed from the second to the third generation.

Besides, he even unexpectedly found a few "Ice Barriers."

Once a popular card deck, it’s easily guessed to be an all Water Attribute deck from the name, mainly using monster effects to block opponent operations. Among them are Synchro trump cards like Light Spear Dragon and Trident Dragon, known for great destruction to opponents’ game experience, both were renowned figures on the Forbidden Card list.

Of course, there’s currently no Synchro. Saying "card deck" is rather forceful, with only a few cards, it can’t form combat power.

However, it makes Yugen think it’s quite a suitable card deck for himself when the Synchro Era arrives.

Not only because of its strength but also because it’s infuriating...

Recently, Yugen’s harvest has been quite fruitful, with a huge bumper crop of stock cards--a rare occurrence for him now. Over more than half a year’s operations, his stock has substantially improved, and even through Duel Academy channels, it’s hard to find particularly valuable cards.

The Volcano Card Deck was recently expanded, although he just acquired the last few components from Kaiba Group, construction of the card deck began long ago.

Next, the main event was the Sword Fighting Beast gained from Merlot, reigning world champion in the Fusion Era environment with strategic dominance.

Furthermore, after defeating the Overlord, although Judai absorbed the whole Evil Heart family bucket along with the Overlord himself, Yugen gained quite a bit too. He seized various card decks from Overlord Army’s subordinates.

The most valuable among them is the famed Dark Realm card deck that appeared as a significant part of the Overlord Army in the anime.

Dark Realm was once a popular deck with a large fanbase, unified with Dark Attribute Demon Race, each card having a common "discard effect from hand" trigger ability, with stronger effects when discarded by opponent’s card effects.

Dark Realm was strong back then, but Yugen found collecting it a bit difficult.

Like the anime depicted, each Dark Realm monster appeared individually, scattered across different regions of the Overlord’s dimension, and various regiment numbers.

Thus, Yugen spent quite a while, over the past few months, traveling across different dimensions of the Overlord, collecting one by one, until finally completing the Overlord City dungeon to roughly gather a complete deck.

The advantage is that nearly every Dark Realm card collected corresponds to an Elf. Though not directly inhabiting the card, they remained in their respective Dark Realm, yet they were all subdued by Yugen’s duels. Especially now, with their former master, the Overlord’s downfall, they loyally serve their new master...

...well, after losing the game, loyalty is not optional.

"Thank you for your patronage~"

Yugen currently spends generously. Grandpa Solomon accepted the money, handing a box of cards cheerfully to Yugen.

"Young man, very nice." Grandpa Solomon laughed, "I’ve also seen your duels before, very promising. If there’s a chance in the future, you should exchange more with Yuugi when he returns, my intuition tells me you’ll have much in common."

"Thank you, Grandpa."

Yugen accepted the box and thanked him.

If there’s an opportunity, he’d indeed want to exchange with Mr. Yugi. Besides other reasons, he’s also somewhat curious.

By the GX period, the previously short and harmless Tabletop Game has grown taller, his physique resembling the former Ousama. By now, he should’ve broken through Level 100, and in the Dueling Realm, he’s like a myth, though his exact strength was never fully depicted in the anime.

At the GX finale, Yuugi just had Judai travel back ten years to duel his past self. Even in the later movie, the protagonists traveled back in time to find Yuugi from the DM period. The adult Tabletop Game never appeared directly in any derivative work afterward.

Yugen is also very curious about how strong the current Yuugi is.

...

...

Elsewhere.

In a dim alley, a man runs quickly, glancing back in fear as if afraid something is chasing him.

But focusing too much on the back, he obviously lacks attention to what’s ahead. Unwittingly, he trips over something in the alley, stumbles and falls hard, face down.

He struggles to get up but seems to have exhausted his last bit of strength in the sprint just now.

Every cell seems to cry out in despair. Unable to force himself to stand again, he can only lean against the wall. His heavy breathing echoes throughout the alley.

As despair sets in, thinking he might have escaped.

"About time to give up, isn’t it?"

The man’s whole body trembles, turning with terror. At the front of the alley, stands a young man with a red cap and green jacket, coldly smiling at him.

It’s the legendary man who dueled with both Duel Kings, Ryuzaki Kyoryu!

Panicking, the man rises, trying to escape. Turning around, he sees someone blocking the way he came from.

"Oh boy, you really gave us a lot of trouble, running so much. As the former owner of the Dark Duelist Club, doesn’t fleeing headlong seem disgraceful?"

The person appearing there bears thick glasses on the nose, a stern and wicked-faced gaze, and a mischievous grin.

"My club has already been uprooted by you, what more do you want?"

The man yells wildly.

"What more? Nothing much. Just want you to tell us, where is ’it?’"

"I don’t know, it escaped, it’s no longer in our hands."

The man says dejectedly. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"But it should’ve gone to Tongshiyi." The man said, "We all know now whose turf Tongshiyi is. It is now entirely in control of the Hanuo Knights. Ordinary people would not dare provoke easily..."

Butterfly and Ryuzaki burst into laughter together.

"Do we look like ordinary people?"

The man looks down, not daring to speak.

"Alright then, Tongshiyi...such a nostalgic place." Ryuzaki said.

"Hanuo Knights, is it."

Butterfly adjusts his glasses.

"Just right, I want to see what can’t be provoked."
