Chapter 412: Chapter 412: Yanxi 20

"You’ve got it all figured out. I had no idea you were such an expert on dating, Xiuzai," Little Wu muttered. "Tell us more. If I meet a girl I like in the future, I’ll take a page out of your book."

Li Xiuzai said, "There’s not much to say. It’s a wonderful thing to meet a girl you like, but you have to be sure she’s a good person. If she has poor character, I wouldn’t recommend it. After all, it’s not easy for any of us to earn money."

"You’ve got a point," Daozhen agreed with a nod. "Imagine pouring your heart out and giving someone money, only for them to turn around and mock you for being a sucker. We can’t do something that stupid."

"That’s why the prerequisite is being certain that she’s a good person. I know Zheng Xue isn’t that kind of cold-hearted person," Li Xiuzai said with a smile. Seeing Zheng Xue go to the kitchen to pour tea, he followed right behind her.

Li Xiuzai’s parents just lowered their heads and smiled at the scene, while Zheng Xue’s mother beside them was grinning from ear to ear. She knew how far Li Xiuzai and Zheng Xue had come; after all, she had seen Li Xiuzai’s bankbook with her own eyes.

To be honest, Zheng Xue’s mother was extremely satisfied with Li Xiuzai. He was hardworking and driven, and he took excellent care of her daughter. To reassure her, he had even started handing over his earnings, which is something many grown men fail to do.

Besides, Li Xiuzai was a surefire prospect. He was so young and already so good at making money; she wasn’t worried about her daughter’s future. And this transformation was all thanks to Teacher Xu.

At this thought, Zheng Xue’s mother linked her arm through Tan You’s. "Teacher Xu, we are all so grateful that you’ve poured your heart and soul into helping the children. We’re treating you to lunch, so you absolutely must come."

Tan You raised an eyebrow. "Alright, I’ll take you up on that."

"Not at all! We’re the ones imposing on you. Thanks to your guidance these past two years, life has gotten much better for our families," Li Xiuzai’s mother said with a smile. "Our children now have bright futures ahead of them. When it comes down to it, we’re all incredibly grateful to you."

Tan You smiled. "Think nothing of it. I heard from Little Snow that you’re planning to buy homes for the children? Are you looking at places near their university?"

As soon as real estate came up, the topic of conversation changed. Xu Jinwu gave Tan You a look, silently commenting on how adept she was at diverting the conversation. Tan You simply arched an eyebrow, a flicker of smug satisfaction in her gaze.

The college entrance exam results were released on Saturday night. That Saturday at noon, Tan You had a lively lunch with the parents, and in the afternoon, she went with them to look at properties.

No matter which world she was in, Tan You was passionate about buying real estate. ’Money left in your hands is a guaranteed loss. Only when it’s tied to something tangible does it stop feeling like just a string of numbers.’

However, watching Tan You buy a spacious luxury apartment left everyone feeling a little stunned. ’So much money, and she paid for it without even batting an eye? It must be so easy for capable people to make a fortune.’

Li Xiuzai whispered to Zheng Xue, "I’m going to be amazing one day, too. We’ll buy a spacious luxury apartment just like that."

Zheng Xue nodded. "Let’s make that our goal. As long as we work hard, we’ll get what we want in the end."

Even Xu Jinwu thought Tan You was being incredibly extravagant. "You... That’s just... incredible. But since you bought a place here, will you even have time to stay in it?"

Tan You shrugged nonchalantly. "I can come over on weekends. It’s quiet here. The complex I live in now is close to the school, but it does get a bit noisy."

"That’s to be expected. Being near a school, it’s bound to be full of students," Xu Jinwu agreed. "All things considered, my daughter is really something."

"Teacher Xu isn’t just capable, she’s also incredibly kind-hearted," another mother chimed in, looking at the development brochure. "What if we buy around here? The location is great, and we’ll be able to see more of Teacher Xu in the future."

Jin Li was always the first to respond, "Yes! I want to be closer to Teacher!"

Seven families came together, and when they left, each had a contract tucked in their bag. The students, in particular, walked with a spring in their step. Even though they now had mortgages, owning a home gave them a greater sense of security and a clearer reason to strive and work hard.

When they learned that the older students had all gotten into their dream universities, the four younger students were instantly fired up. This newfound energy was evident in how they studied more diligently and worked harder at their street stalls; naturally, their academic performance improved as well.

"Today is Teacher’s birthday. Happy birthday, Teacher! May you be forever young!" In the private room, the students sat surrounding Xu Yanxi, every one of them looking at her with immense respect.

Xu Yanxi looked around at the circle of students before her. From the very first ones, like Jin Li and Song Yuan, to the new first-years who had just started university, there were almost twenty people now.

"Thank you all for celebrating my birthday with me," Xu Yanxi said, thanking the students for their kindness. "I’m very happy, and I’m very honored to have been able to accompany you all on a part of your journey."

The students flocked to Xu Yanxi, chatting animatedly. After finally getting through wave after wave of toasts from her students, Xu Yanxi was a little tipsy. She leaned against a small table, watching Tan You, who was sitting cross-legged across from her. "It all still feels a little unreal."

Tan You knew what Xu Yanxi meant. Xu Yanxi had only woken up yesterday, and now, in the blink of an eye, she was surrounded by students. It was only natural that she wasn’t used to it.

Tan You said, "It’s not so bad, is it? Just answer me this: seeing how the students have changed because of you, aren’t you happy?"

"Of course I’m happy," Xu Yanxi sighed, resting her chin in her hand. "I’m just worried I can’t be like you, meticulously planning things out and giving my all for these students."

"I’m only a math teacher, not like you, who’s knowledgeable in every subject." She clenched her fist as she spoke. "I should be able to handle the science-related subjects. As for the rest... I’ll just have to try harder."

Tan You admired this quality in Xu Yanxi. She was an incredibly resilient woman. She might look frail on the surface, as if a gust of wind could blow her over, but she possessed an inner core of tenacity. No matter what storms came her way, she could weather them.

"I’ll help you," Tan You said calmly. She truly admired Xu Yanxi’s character. She had encountered several ’clients’ over time, but Xu Yanxi was the one she admired most.

Her previous clients had tended to be emotionally messy, but not Xu Yanxi. When she discovered that Jin Taiyuan was cheating on her, she was utterly heartbroken, yet she still made the swift and decisive choice to divorce him.

’Honestly, that’s an incredibly difficult thing to do, considering she and Jin Taiyuan had been together for over a decade. They had been so close, yet she had managed to make a clean break.’

’If Hong Youcheng hadn’t hired someone to harm her later on, Xu Yanxi would never have met such a tragic end.’

"Come to think of it, I was too merciful toward Hong Youcheng. He dared to order someone to harm you. I should have had him killed," Tan You said, a touch of regret in her voice. ’For all the vile things he’s done, I should have just crushed him.’

"This is a society ruled by law," Xu Yanxi said with a smile. "Actually, this is already very good. I’m quite satisfied with Hong Youcheng’s current situation."
