Chapter 386: Chapter 386: Yue Ming 36
Liuu Jun was reeling from one shock after another. "Seriously? You’re unbelievable. You’re so tight-lipped. Dad, Mom, and I never heard you say any of this."
"And another thing, what’s the deal with those rich women?"
"It is what it is." Liuu Yuming spread her hands. "He’s not important, so why broadcast his business to the world? Talking about it would just make it seem like I still have feelings for him."
Xu Jia squeezed Liuu Yuming’s hand. "He didn’t ruin your mood, did he?"
"Of course not. He’s way angrier than I am right now." Liuu Yuming’s smile was brilliant. She glanced at Liuu Jun across from her, then at Tang Jing standing just behind and to the side of him. "Hello there, Jingjing."
Tang Jing felt her scalp tingle. She never would have imagined that this dazzlingly beautiful woman before her would call her "Jingjing" right off the bat. It was such a cutesy nickname; no one had called her that since she was ten. ’And now a complete stranger is using it so naturally?’
Liuu Jun quickly turned around. Upon seeing Tang Jing, he shot to his feet. "I was just about to ask where you were. Come, sit. This is my cousin, Liuu Yuming, and this is her... her boyfriend, Xu Jia."
Xu Jia’s smile didn’t waver. "Hello."
Tang Jing looked at Liuu Jun, then at Liuu Yuming, the question in her eyes obvious. ’Weren’t we just supposed to be having dinner? I thought it would just be the two of us. This was actually a good chance for me to make things clear with Liuu Jun.’ fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Liuu Jun immediately proclaimed his innocence. "I didn’t know my cousin and her boyfriend were eating here too."
Liuu Yuming raised her hand. "I can vouch for him. I only knew he was taking you to dinner tonight, not that he’d booked a table here. If you don’t mind, why don’t we eat together?"
"The food is starting to arrive. Jingjing, do you have any dietary restrictions?"
Being called "Jingjing" over and over again by Liuu Yuming was making Tang Jing’s scalp tingle. She composed her expression. "You can just call me Tang Jing."
"No way. ’Jingjing’ makes us sound closer." Pulling Tang Jing down into a seat, Liuu Yuming propped her chin in her hand. "You’re really beautiful. When I look at you, I just want to make pretty little dresses for you."
Tang Jing toyed with her teacup, thinking that this pair of cousins had an aesthetic sense all their own. "I think you should look in a mirror. You’re the one who’s truly beautiful."
Liuu Yuming sighed. "I dream of being like you—beautiful and strong. Why couldn’t I have met you first? Too bad Jun beat me to it."
Liuu Jun shot Liuu Yuming a protesting glare. "Sis, are we just going to let Chen Wei go?"
Liuu Yuming chuckled. "How could I? After the way he acted just now, I wanted to gouge his eyes out. But this is a civilized society, and we have to abide by the law."
Tang Jing had overheard a few snippets of what happened as she was walking over, enough to piece together the gist of it. She was rather surprised. In fact, she couldn’t understand how anyone could bear to divorce a woman as charming as Liuu Yuming.
But since this was their first meeting, Tang Jing didn’t feel it was her place to ask. After all, speaking too deeply with a new acquaintance is a major faux pas.
The incident with Chen Wei didn’t affect Liuu Yuming’s mood in the slightest. Over the course of the meal, she and Tang Jing hit it off surprisingly well, and they even made plans to have dinner together the next day.
This rapid progress left Liuu Jun dumbfounded. He was the one who met Tang Jing first, so how was it that his cousin was now more popular with her than he was?
Xu Jia glanced at Liuu Jun and suddenly found him particularly irritating. His date with Liuu Yuming had been completely ruined by these two. Who could he even complain to?
Looking at Liuu Yuming’s radiant smile, Xu Jia had a feeling. ’Could it be that Tang Jing is going to be a stumbling block in my time alone with Liuu Yuming from now on? No way. I have to find a way to make our relationship official as soon as possible.’
The traffic police department was especially lively today. A stunning beauty had shown up in the afternoon—and that was no exaggeration. When Tang Jing came out after her shift, she saw Liuu Yuming sitting in the reception office. The scene gave Tang Jing a sense of déjà vu, as if she’d just seen something very similar not too long ago.
Tang Jing was tempted not to go over. Liuu Yuming was just too flamboyant, or rather, she was eye-catching just by standing there. But Liuu Yuming had other ideas. The moment she saw Tang Jing, she immediately stood up and waved. "Jingjing."
Stunned by the "Jingjing," the crowd from the traffic police team all looked at Tang Jing with peculiar expressions. They knew by now that Liuu Yuming was Liuu Jun’s cousin. ’So is this some kind of family consensus?’
Tang Jing felt as if every step was weighed down with lead, but she had to maintain her composure. "Didn’t we agree on six? Why are you so early?"
Liuu Yuming dramatically produced a very cute helmet from behind her back. "Jingjing, you promised to take me for a motorcycle ride. I even got my gear ready!"
Tang Jing glanced down at the adorable helmet, then at her own cool ride, and for some reason, she felt the urge to sigh again. She realized that ever since she’d met the Liuu cousins, the number of times she sighed had skyrocketed.
"Get on. Where are we eating tonight?" After helping Liuu Yuming put on her helmet, Tang Jing gestured for her to get on the bike.
"Let’s go to the night market!" Liuu Yuming wrapped her arms around Tang Jing’s waist without a hint of reservation. "Jingjing, your waist is so slender! Do you have abs? V-lines?"
Tang Jing squirmed uncomfortably. "Yue Ming, don’t get handsy."
Liuu Yuming was completely unabashed. "We’re both girls, what’s the big deal? Jingjing... can you teach me your workout routine later? I want to train too..."
Hearing the conversation carried on the wind, the petrified crowd finally snapped out of it.
"A true warrior!"
"Calling Captain Tang ’Jingjing’ to her icy face... Ugh, just thinking about it makes my skin crawl..."
"Like I said, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Have you forgotten about the other one? He told Captain Tang ’You’re so beautiful’ right to her face."
"But she really is gorgeous. President Liuu is too, he’s incredibly handsome. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call him a pretty boy, right?"
"She’s gorgeous, but she’s taken. The lady has a boyfriend."
Liuu Yuming couldn’t care less what others were whispering. Once they arrived at the night market, she dragged Tang Jing all over the place. Besides, Liuu Yuming had already made it clear: she simply felt a connection with Tang Jing and would absolutely, under no circumstances, play wingman for Liuu Jun. They would each have their own separate friendships.
With that settled, Tang Jing relaxed. The two women had a blast at the night market, like fish in water.
"Last shot," Liuu Yuming said, her hands clasped tightly in front of her chest, eyes glued to the balloon stall before them. She had her heart set on a big white teddy bear, but unfortunately, Liuu Yuming was a terrible shot. Hitting two out of ten balloons would be a cause for celebration.
The surrounding spectators were just as nervous as Liuu Yuming. After all, Tang Jing’s performance was truly eye-catching. You had to hit all fifty balloons to win the grand prize, which was a true test of skill.
And now, Tang Jing was down to her final shot. How could anyone not be nervous? Sometimes, that’s just how it is: the shooter isn’t nervous, but the hearts of the spectators are in their throats.
