Chapter 1434: It Didn’t Give Up
So apparently... Demons also used to be one of the races that lived in this World... And then they got chased away? You learn something new everyday...
I remember learning that they were denizens of another Plane but I guess that wasn’t the whole truth.
They probably became denizens of another Plane after they were chased out from their original home so now they are looking to return here.
It’s interesting how the Infrids bear close resemblance to a lot of them to begin with to the point that you could be forgiven for mistaking the two when placed side by side.
Hmm... Maybe that Demon Lord or something used to be the king of this territory? I wonder what happened?
I guess I could always just ask the gods for the answer but... I have a feeling the price they would ask in return would drain me for the next few weeks so I might as well just find out by myself.
And it’s not like it’s that important anyway... That guy came to find me to talk to me, which means they are at least willing to talk so I might as well just talk to them instead.
I’m pretty sure after what I’ve done, I’ve set back their plans by quite a bit and the ball is currently in their court and not mine.
That was what I was thinking as I started heading back towards the surface, only for another blob to jump out from the shadows and reform itself in front of me again.
A head forms from the blob before a mouth appears to speak again.
"You! What did you do to me?!"
I blinked at it, "Err... Nothing? I mean... I didn’t do anything aside from calling Hiandoca to talk to her... Though I didn’t expect her to show up personally. And well... If you don’t know, she has that kind of effect on people in her presence..."
He made the action of spitting on the ground and I believe the controller himself was the one doing the action.
"You really just know how to keep fucking with us, don’t you? Fucking bitch. I’m telling you right now, for your own good, stay away from us and stop interfering with our plans. If you don’t, there’s no telling what will happen to you. Do you understand?"
I tilted my head at him, "Mmm... You’ll have to convince me though. I’m interested in preserving this World while you all seem to be intent on destroying it and that’s a big no no in my book~"
The guy clucked his tongue audibly, "You know nothing of what you speak about."
"Perhaps, but I know what I have witnessed. And what I witnessed does not instill confidence in me about what your group intends to do to leave you guys alone at all~"
He made the action of spitting again, "You really think you are in a position to make such demands?"
"Err... Seeing that I did ruin your plans several times and also got rid of this hideout as well... I think I really am in a position to make such demands, don’t you think?"
There was a slight pause before the other party answered, "This is merely just a small part of what we have in store. You would do well to tread carefully."
"Hmmm~ Really now? Why don’t you tell me about this grand plan of yours? Maybe this is all just a misunderstanding and if I know about it, I might even help you guys!"
There was another pause, this time probably because the other party wasn’t expecting me to offer to help them.
"Our goal is simple. We seek to reclaim what is ours. We shall not return here as slaves but as conquerors. Those that once trampled us will be the ones that are trampled in turn. Everything will burn and be made anew as our Lord claims this world in the name of--"
"Ok, yeah... Like I thought... You guys have nothing good planned. Why the heck would I let you guys burn this World? I’m not even done exploring it yet. In fact, I’m quite attached to how it is right now and I would rather there be no burning happening at all."
"Of course you would say that... You are part of the problem. In that case, we just have to get rid of you..."
The black ooze then transformed itself back into a spherical blob before it launched itself towards me, like a slime trying to pounce on its prey.
I wasn’t sure what this was supposed to achieve as I shot a [Spark Strike] at the blob, striking it in the centre.
I was expecting that to launch it flying back but frowned when I realised my spell fizzled out of existence before it could touch it and I was forced to duck and let the blob sail above my head to dodge it.
Tsk... Don’t tell me it’s another one of those where normal magic is ineffective and I have to use Infernalmancy to deal with it... freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
The blob turned and tried to launch itself towards me again.
Hmm... Let me try something...
Instead of using magic, I drew my Shadow Sword and activated its enchantment to set it ablaze before slicing through the air.
The blade cut through the blob and separated it into two while also setting it alight with black flames.
Seems like this still has an effect at least.
The two halves flew to either side of me and crashed onto the ground, the flames quickly consuming the blob and burning it into nothingness.
I waited to see if anything else would happen. After that guy made a declaration like that, I was expecting more to happen but... Nothing else happened after that.
I almost felt a little disappointed at that but I sheathed my sword and moved on, leaving the sewers to head back up to the surface of the city streets once more.
I had emerged in the same place where I had descended and it seems like there was another pair of Infrids engrossed in lezzing it out at the alley entrance, most likely the trap’s newest victims in making them act as guards for the sewer entrance.
As I stepped towards the opening, one of them tried to reach at me to grab me but I caught her wrist first and pulled both of them out of the enchantment’s effect range, freeing them.
The two of them stiffened and I shooed them away, ignoring their offers of a threesome while I searched the area for the anchor of the enchantment.
I found it in the form of a magic circle scratched on the side of the wall of the alley, something that I missed since it was the same colour as the wall itself.
I then poured my magic into the circle and shattered it, dispelling its effects.
Initially, I hadn’t thought about dispelling it since it might have alerted the demons hiding here but there was no need to keep it up anymore since we’ve taken over that hideout.
With this matter settled, I was wondering what else I should do now since I had the rest of the day to myself, only to feel the hair at the back of my neck stand.
I ducked and another blob of shadow flew over me, crashing onto the ground just like the blob that I had destroyed not too long ago in the sewers.
God damn it... Is this what that guy meant? That he will be summoning more of these things to harass me all the time?
I focused my attention on the blob as it leapt towards me again but my sword came slashing down to split it into two, burning it away just like the one before it.
This guy must be nearby, right? Otherwise how could he summon one right behind me outside of the sewers? It shouldn’t be possible for someone to summon something from far away, right?
Right as I thought of that, another blob suddenly just popped into existence above me and fell straight down towards me.
I only knew it was coming because Eins warned me and I sliced the blob into two and burned it away.
Another one quickly took its place and shot out from the side, trying to catch me off guard but only to get sliced apart as well.
I kept my sword up, waiting for the next one to appear but... Nothing happened.
I slowly lowered my sword, though I kept my guard up just in case he was waiting for that to summon another one.
When nothing else happened for another two minutes, I sheathed my blade and started walking.
I didn’t even take three steps before another one popped up and lunged towards me, only to get slashed into two once more.
Oh my gods!! Can you be any more annoying?!! Is this what you mean by that threat?!! You want me to hunt you down right now?!!
